Yo, Idk if any of you all have been able to catch these summer pre season games, but this guy looks legit. I’m not one to exaggerate, so don’t expect nothing outlandish here, but T Ferg can likely give the Thunder valuable minutes now.

What stands out more than his shooting and athleticism is his DEFENSE, active hands, and foot speed. Billy Donavan speaks about how quick he picks things up. Against the Pelicans, he deflected a few passes, snuck a block on Boogie at the rim, picking up guards of the inbound pass, and remained pesky without fouling!

Offensively, he hit his shots (as expected), threw down a nice two handed slam coming off a screen, and keeps moving without the basketball whether it was around the perimeter or cutting to the basket. He clearly will only be an accessory to the offense this season, but he can play and guard 1-3 with his length, athleticism, and better-than-expected handle and court vision.

I didn’t know what to expect after not seeing him play at all in NCAA or Summer League, so I want other people to take a look too so I don’t sound crazy or anything but every player on the team speaks highly of him. Despite his lack of strength, PG said T Ferg reminds him of a younger version of himself, wanting to make an impact on both ends of the floor. It sounds like that year of pro ball is showing signs of promise. I’m excited to see how his career plays out! He is for sure Roberson’s replacement.

Madden was distracting me so I didn’t get to watch as closely as I wanted, but most of what I saw him do was on defense and that impressed me a lot as well. If he can give us good minutes this season, he would improve our bench dramatically (mainly cause if he’s not playing the backup 3, it’s Kyle Singler)

Also, what about Josh Huestis? I only saw a minute or 2 of him in the game but he hit a 3 with good form and that in and of itself made me think he’s coming for Roberson

lost his minutes to T Ferg. As far as Heustis is concerned, at 6-8 235,  he’s been getting more looks as a stretch 4 than a 3. His offensive consistency is what will make or break him. He looked good against the Pelicans but not so much against the Rockets.

Heustis got a couple looks on the low block and he finished in traffic. He looks like he’s in shoulder pads out there haha. He had about 8 points at half but that’s how he finished with extended minutes in the second half. Defense was great, as usual.

Jeremi Grant is frustrating to watch, to me. He’s acting like Roberson behind the line. Neither one of them want to shoot when it’s passed to them WIDE OPEN. They were both playing hot potato with the ball for a stretch that took the 10 point lead down to 2 in minutes.

That won’t happen with Abrines and PatP our there though.

I agree that Ferguson’s defensive potential is huge – with his length and speed he has potential to be a lot down defender and can do a lot of the heavy lifting around the big 3. He’ll be ideal to put in a game to protect the lead and gives Billy Donovan another nice defensive option. Also as a rookie playing alongside 3 All Stars will be a great learning curve for him.

I think what stands out most to me about him is that he plays like a veteran already.  On physically, does he look like a rookie.  I’d say that year overseas did him very well, because he looks like he already knows how to be a professional.
