Teams Stuck in QuickSand : Hawks Edition

In the West they would be fighting for a Playoff spot. I just don't see this team winning a 1st rnd series against anybody in the East. Their best/Franchise player said "he does'nt care about the fans." He is a 29 yr old-Ball dominant- 2/3rd option- 124million dollar player. This was the worst contract ever, i think this is worst than GArenas/RLewis because they were younger. Joe Johnson is 29 when he's 34 he'll be making 20 mill, they will have limited Cap flexibility ( this is my barometer for signing FA/or Resignings players) How much can they improve + how much will they count against the Cap. If a guy takes up 25-40% of your Cap he better be 24-26 yr old/Been to a Couple of AllStars games/Can fill in for the Secretary when she's home sick/Is Top 5 @ their position/ & will give the fan base reason to believe that we can compete for Chip soon. JoeJohnson is neither of these things.

Now Josh Smith has 2 years left on his deal. He is what he is, has improved this year, but he does not have a game that ages gracefully. @ Best he is a 3rd option on a Chip team with avg of 17/18ppg /8-10 rebs/2-3 blocks. I like him more than any player on this team going forward. But I think he is their best trade option.

Al Horford is Buck Williams. I think he can be effective If they trade for BLopez & move Horford to PF.

They are Cap Out 70 Mill this year/ 65mill in 11/12 60mill in 12/13

One of the Worst Fan bases in Sports. & Who in the *^& are the Owners ( The Spirit Group)

I don't know how or when the Hawks will be relevant again but they peeked two years ago, should have blew up the team after that. This Joe Johnson Contract was a franchise killing/no scratch that this was a franchise Moving contract when you consider the fickle fans of ATL/ with the Hawks Losing $$$$.

I agree, I don't get to watch

I agree, I don't get to watch the Hawks much, but there is just something missing from this team. I think they might be lack an inside presence. I thought Josh Smith had a chance to be a star a few years ago, but he never took that next step and improved his game enough. He also seems to inconsistent. I don't see them beating any of the top 6 seeds in the East.
