Teams On The Rise- Playoff Spots Now Available in The West?

So far this trade deadline we have seen two Top-10 calibur players traded out of the Western onference and into the Eastern Conference. Utah and Denver did get quite a bit of talent in return, but will it be enough to still compete at the level they have been competing? Steve Nash is getting old, and Phoenix's supporting cast around him is as weak as ever. Their window has closed and they are now slowly getting worse year by year. They would have to make a drastic change to push themselves into the playoffs for this year, after that seems gloomy.

This gives a great oppurtunity for teams like Memphis, Golden State, LA Clippers to really have a decent shot at the playoffs in the future.

MEMPHIS- On The Rise
Memphis is likely to finally get that well arned playoff spot they deserve this year. They need to make some magic happen this year to stay competitive with their frontcourt both on the FA market. New York, Toronto, Sacramento, and other teams with avalable cap room will likely offer Gasol a hefty contract. Zach Randolph maybe targetted by teams like New Jersey, Sacramento or even Denver to bring an Allstar qaulity player to teams having trouble attracting top tier talent. Memphis will have to figure out who they want to pay and how to replace who leaves. I think this team will be fine as long as they an dop that. If the Grizzlies harness their talent the 5th seed in the west would not be unimaginable to reach.

LA CLIPPERS- On The Rise
Here is a team I not only see making the playoffs, but I see them getting alot of "calls". They have the new "Poster child" of the NBA Blake Griffin. Not only is he one of the most if not the most) agressive, athletic, and skilled big men in the league, but he gets calls. If Baron Davis plays te way he has been playing lately, and the Clippers can make some moves to improve ther team the 7th or 8th position in the west may not be far off.

GOLDEN STATE- On The Rise
Golden State has impressed me alot this year, to the point where Im willing to bet they get a playoff seed next year. There is very little incertinty within the franchise, everyone knows they are striving for success, everyone knows they will do anthing to get there. The Owner's reall want to win. They have arguably the best backcourt in the NBA (I think San Antonio's is best), a gritty rebounded and scorer in the paint with Lee, and Dorell Wright an emerging young star as their SF who is instant offense. To improve this team they could use a guy ike Nene (who they are currently targetting), and they may get sign him after Murphy's contract expires. Also they need a stopper at SF that will make Wright a bench player. Like Memphis their upside is exremely high if tey find those.

Heres a larger list of teams I have on the rise.

TEAMS ON THE RISE
1-Memphis Grzzlies
2-Golden State Warriors
3-LA Clippers
4-Minnesota Timberwolves

TEAMS DECLINING
1-Utah Jazz
2-Phoenix Suns
3-Denver Nuggets
4-Houston Rockets

I think people undervalue the Nuggets

PG Felton/Lawson

SG Aflallo/Smith

SF Gallinari/Chandler/Forbes

PF Martin/ Harrington

C Nene/Andersen/Mozgov

Seems like quite a legit roster. The Nuggets have gotten way younger trading away an aging Billups for a borderline all-star Felton and getting some high-potential young guys in Chandler and Gallinari. I think the trade was not all that one-sided

Suns won these trades w/o

Suns won these trades w/o making any (for this year anyway). They should definitely get into the playoffs now.

Utah Trades

Utah will be making another trade of 2 before the trade deadline. With Milsap and Al Jefferson locked for a few years it doesn't leave much room for Favors to develope. I don't see Harris as a "Utah style pg"... there's enough interest/value in the 2 players that I can envision them playing elsewhere. Utah could become horrible very quickly if the Nets picks don't work out. Utah's potential demise makes their trade for Al Jefferson look like a huge mistake.

Im sure many teams in the NBA

Im sure many teams in the NBA would love to acquire Jefferson, he is a good big body, a bit flat footed and not a great second effort but he clogs up the paint, and is a very good scorer (besides being a black hole).

LOL The Clippers stink and are not making the playoffs so please keep that prediction in Dream land where it belongs. They are 10.5 games out of the 8th spot and they aren't better than any team ahead of them.

Utah's only big change coming into this season was Jefferson in place of Boozer. All NBA teams will have taken notice of the drop off well as the implossion that has occured to Utah since that time. If Boozer would've stuck around it's a safe bet that Sloan and D. Williams would still be in Utah.

I agree with Quincey. Know

I agree with Quincey. Know way the Clippers make the playoffs this season. They're too far out no matter what moves they make. They have a very bright future though. I still would like to see them get a wing like Iggy. Maybe a Kaman for Igoudala trade would work, but Philly might not do it now that they're winning. But with more draft picks and trades, they can become a legit contender though. Be wary of Donald Sterling though. His cheap mindset might allow him to let some of these young studs go away.

Western Conference playoffs

The Clippers are not going to make the playoffs this season. They are pretty far behind and have to leap a lot of teams to make it happen. They play more road games than home through the end of the year, and they have 5 road wins. Gordon is injured. It's not going to happen. However, I do agree with Canada, next season could be their year. They need more quality depth and to figure out the situation at the 3 spot. Baron needs to stay healthy, consistent, focused, and motivated. But Griffin is only going to get better, and they are talented.

The team the most on the rise is Golden State, because they have a young core who looks to be sticking together for a while, with a good young coach. But for them to really be a threat, they have to defend better, and need more in the interior, so they aren't there yet.

Memphis' situation is questionable because Randolph and Mayo both could be gone by the time next season starts. I also think the Nuggets and Suns are in better positions than people think. Phoenix has a lot of salary coming off their books, and Nash is still looking very good for them. If they start falling apart, they can trade him and get a decent return. The Nuggets have a lot of young talent on that roster and George Karl, so they should continue being a competitive team.

The W's may make the playoffs next year

If we somehow find a bench. We need a guy who makes you think twice about going inside. A Perkins type guy + a bench = playoffs.

Sad thing is is that I think we have the perfect peices to compliment Dwight... Sadly thats a pipe dream unless we save a lot of money for that offseason by dumping Biedrins and maybe our pick and we make a big improvement but our cap situatuon isnt pretty considering Lee's massive deal, Monta's deal, Curry needing a new deal soon, Andris' terrible deal and maybe Wright needing a new deal soon

You guys arent understanding

You guys arent understanding I dont mean this year. Im not retarded so please stop making me out to be some idiot. I didnt mean this year I clearly wrote...

"This gives a great oppurtunity for teams like Memphis, Golden State, LA Clippers to really have a decent shot at the playoffs IN THE FUTURE . "

Not as in 1 week, or 2 weeks, more like 1 year or 2 years. When I wrote in the future I thought that the posters on this site owuld be able to read IN THE FUTURE. Sorry if you missed it, I MEANT IN THE FUTURE. I am sorry I did not write IN THE FUTURE all over the Golden State and LA Clippers pieces.

There's no way we'll make the

There's no way we'll make the playoffs. This road trip, and the injuries really screwed us. Add to all of that, we just traded Baron Davis and got nothing too significant in return. The Clippers have basically done the same thing they've done last season in weakening the team at the deadline, even though the playoffs were a lot more in reach last season.

Scratch us off that list lol
