The backcourt injuries may The backcourt injuries may have made Coach Ks job a bit easier, They have 5 returning players left. Paul, Kobe, Westbrook, Dwilly, Gordon…Harden won’t make it over a returning player, his only shot is another injury. The focus now will be upfront Chandler-lock, Lebron -lock, Durant-lock, Melo-lock, Love -lock, Bosh – lock…. 1 spot remaining, will it be Rudy Gay or Iggy?

    Russ /Paul

Kobe/ D will / (Klay Thompson as shooter? I really cant figure out this last spot )

    Bron/ Gay

    Durant / Melo /Love

    Chandler / Bosh

      D. Wade being out now makes Eric Gordon a lock, unless his contract situation keeps him out. He’s 100% healthy.

Russell Westbrook and Eric Gordon are both locks to make the team in my opinion.

E Gor could still make the squad…In fact he’s a very possible pick at Sg…

But I still want the Team to go young , this is my dream for an under 25 Team USA…

        Pg-Westbrook-Irving-Curry

        Sg-Harden-Gordon

        Sf-Durant-Gay

        Pf-Love-Griffin-A.Davis

        C-D.Cousins-R.Hibbert

Obviously Kobe, Cp3, Lebron, D.Will, D12, Melo, Amare, Bosh, Iguadola and Ty Chandler aren’t going to be around forever so lets get some young guys involved now…

        Alternates

        Pg-B.Jennings-J.Wall-J.Holiday

        Sg-E.Turner-B.Beal

        Sf-P.George-H.Barnes-M.Kidd Gilchrist

        Pf-M.Beasley-D.Williams-T.Robinson

        C-G.Monroe-D.Favors

LOL. This guy said Klay Thompson. Team USA doesn’t take spot up shooters, they need to brind other things to the table like defense and ball handling. Anyway I can see it looking like this

    PG: CP3/DWill/Westbrook

    SG: Kobe/Iggy

    SF: LeBron/Durant

PF: Bosh/Melo/Griffin( I would rather them have Aldridge but he probably not ready to play)

    C: Chandler/Kevin Love

I still like Anthony Davis as the backup big. A more agile version of Tyson Chandler. Davis could play the 4 or the 5 and guard three positions on the court. It will also give him some time to work on his jump hook and mid-range jumper without defenses focused on shutting him down. If Wade is out I have Kobe, Deron Williams, Chris Paul and Westbrook as locks. Then LeBron, Durant, Love, Bosh, Tyson Chandler and Carmelo Anthony up front. So two more spots. Then Anthony Davis as the other big man. My 12th pick goes to Iggy as a glue guy/defender.

Team USA is loaded with scoring and I think Westbrook and D Will can spend some time at the 2 so having an extra pure shooting guard won’t be much of an issue. Iggy can defend 2’s, 3’s, and 4’s, and play either wing spot or the stretch four. He’s not a great shooter but he can finish strong and get his own shot. He can handle a bit too. I think this team could use two glue guys who focus mainly on defense, running the floor, crashing the boards, and throwing down dunks.

So that’s why I have Anthony Davis and Iggy in my last two spots. As we saw in the Finals, Westbrook, at times plays like a Dwyane Wade clone — and in Game 4 RW played better. I have him spending some time at 2. They can go with D-Will and Westbrook which would give them two over-sized point guards who can score on anyone. I can see the case for Eric Gordon or even other bigs like Blake Griffin but I think that Unibrow and Iggy really complement this roster. If this team has a weakness it is not wing scoring or even long-range shooting, it is a relative lack of depth up front. And I think that A.D. would be a good backup to Tyson Chandler and would be a good fit up front next to either Bosh or Love.

I think that Kobe, D-Will, Durant, Carmelo, and Love (Bosh, too, I guess) would be the team’s main outside threats with LeBron, Iggy, Anthony Davis, and Tyson Chandler being their prime defensive aces. Westbrook and Kobe can also play some D. Chris Paul would be the great floor general who can do some of everything. This would be a great, well-rounded roster from top to bottom. You couldn’t get much more athletic or versatile than this roster. Fun to watch too.

Iggy fits in well with a team of stars because he is a great defender and a willing passer. It really doesn’t matter who they take as long as Lebron and Durant are on the team they could surround them with college players and still win Gold.
