To Tank or Not to Tank!!!!!

Answer's vary on this topic. If you are a Spurs fan & TDuncan is in the draft, you tell DRobison & SElliot to go on Vacation Early. If you are the Cavs & Lebron is on the way in. You Start A bunch of guy's from the Local Y to come & play for you. Do you owe it to your fan base to try to be competitive. The Raptors could go on a Cavs like losing streak & Have a Chance @ KIrving or at least a Top 3 Pick. To Tank or Not to Tank that is the ?

Draft Class

This draft class is terribly weak...Not only you don't tank but you sell your pick to the highest bidder.

The Raptors were up 23 to 3

The Raptors were up 23 to 3 against Dallas and lost that game by like 15. Kinda scary to see how well this team can play at stretches, I know they have potential but I just want them to tank. Either way Toronto is 3 and 20 in the last 23. I think if we manage to keep under 20 wins I would be happy.

Overall?

I think the lottery has to go back to a true lottery. Patrick Ewing ruined that system, but the league is better off if team's are trying to win and build for the future then if they fire sale all of their assets and win 17 games. While small market teams really do have trouble keeping big time free agents, one of the problems is those teams do not properly build around them.

Future's Bright

Either way they can get an II ( thats my new term, just made it up) Instant Impact Player that could revitalize that franchise. Philly went from 2nd ovr pick to on verge of playoffs, so you never know what could happen. So 1 tank job should be ok once a decade or so, but if it happens more than once you could hurt your fanbase, if you do not show promise that things will be better. I think Raps are 1II player away from being an 7-8th seed.

Toronto

They are a team that could get a swingman who comes in and averages 20ppg that could make the playoffs in the East. The fact is the East is getting much, much better than it was 3 or 4 years ago--at the top at least. However, at the bottom of the playoff contenders conference the teams are still bad. The top 5 might be able to compete, but the last 3 teams are not very good (I know New York is ranked 6th, but according to my Power Rankings NY is 5th). Atlanta is a team that cannot compete with Boston, Chicago, or Orlando because they have one impact player, who is a secondary franchise player.

Back to Toronto, that team is just proportioned poorly. They have no toughness in the front court with Bargnani, Davis, and Johnson. Calderon is an overpaid Euro combo guard, DeRozan is Darius Miles 2.0 and Barbosa is a D'antoni product. They need a tough center and a good scorer at the 2 or 3.

I

I hope Irving stays another year, just to screw over all the dumbass teams that actually try to tank to get him.

I'd think Toronto would wait

I'd think Toronto would wait till next year to tank since swingmans like Austin Rivers, Michael Gilchrist, and possible Harrison Barnes (if he decides to stay) would be up for grabs to pair alongside DeRozan and Bargnani.

Never Tank

Never tank. Look at Miami in 2008. Mike Beasley could never start (with the Heat) and played wrong position. (with Heat) Personally I don't like tanking because it just shows you don't care, and me as a fan I never like seeing my favorite team loose and its even worse when they purposely do it. Let the draft lottery play itself out, if you don't like your position, you can always trade up. Never tank, no matter what.

There are enough talented 3's

There are enough talented 3's that if Raptor were looking hard enough they could get one. Minny has a bunch. Toronto to see if Josh Howard will play there. They should have made a trade for him because i doubt he stays in Washington. Toronto needs to move Bargnani for a true Center. As long as they have a no rebounding soft big man at the 5, they will not win. They could possibly put Bargnani at 3 and get a defensive 5 but that is only way you could keep him because as a 4 or 5, he does not rebound well.

Dirk always could rebound even when people called him soft. Gasol can rebound and people call him soft. Why can't Bargnani rebound. Also with Davis possibly being something like Bosh at the 4, trading Bargnani while his stock is pretty good and people dont realize it will be either Davis or Bargnani may be a good idea. They will be lucky to get a better deal than Minny got for Jefferson if they wait. Also Evans should have been moved because a lot of playoff teams could use a physical rebounding defensive type but he is not really a good fit for Raps now because Davis needs minutes.
