halfdecayedParticipantClippers win by 16 tonight without CP3, I have to admit I was surprised.. At this point, I can’t see the Rockets beating the clippers anymore. I know it’s one game but they just beat the defending champ, and 48 hours later, they beat the second seeded Rockets without their leader, with Austin Rivers starting at point guard, just wow, and Dwight had a really good game too, he looked really explosive out there.
At this point, would you rest Chris Paul for game 2 considering how bad the Rockets played or would you rush him back to try and take both games in Houston?

RUDEBOY_Participanti couldnt believe it when former denver coach brian shaw blamed houston’s lost on the rockets being upset about harden not winning the mvp award…….with logic like that,no wonder the nuggets players tuned him out….

ZouldiersParticipantRegardless of the outcome of Game 2, the clippers still have homecourt advantage and they can bring him back for Game 3 where CP3 will be a lot better and can take two games at home to take 3-1 series lead back to Houston. That is my opinion though.

mgreener_34ParticipantI think people need to acknowlege the injuries that the Rockets have suffered, and how it’s effecting the team. Not having Beverley is forcing them to play Jason Terry, a none defender, and forcing Harden to have the ball in his hands 100% of the time. We saw Terry get burned all night, and in the playoffs it’s hard to rely on one playmaker like Houston is doing. This is evident by Hardens 9 TO’s tonight. Clipper are clearly the better team right now, but Houston is missing thier starting PG and their starting PF. I just don’t see how this could be considered a surprise, especially when the two teams had the same exact record in the regular season.
Clippers are obviously playing with hunger and fight, but I think a lot of this series is going to be based off of Houston lossing thier best perimeter defender and best offensive post option.

Mad MaxParticipantYou do realize the Clippers were without one the game’s elite players, Chris Paul? Balances out for the moment.

mgreener_34ParticipantIt seems most people agree with you, but this is a double negative. Everyone is harking on the Cavs saying they won’t get past the Bulls without Love and Smith, yet that same logic doesn’t apply to Houston, who are playing a better team, arguably?
Chris Paul is great, but so is Blake Griffin. So is Deandre Jordon. You can argue that Griffin/Jordan is just as potent a duo as a Harden/Howard tandem this year. Missing two of you starters is a huge deal, and it shouldn’t be overlooked just because a star player on another team is out. Most teams wouldn’t be able to handle that, let alone be considered favorites in a series against another elite team

Mad MaxParticipantI see what you’re trying to say but you’ve got to look at it this way, yes Rockets are down two role players in Beverly and Monajunas but they aren’t game changers in any way, plus the rockets are one of the more deeper teams thus their absence is even more reduced. You can over come the loss of role players even if they’re starters, look at Dallas when they won a title, Caron Butler was a key guy and went down and they don’t miss a beat.
Another thing, look at LAC’s roster. They have 8 guys they can play (they basically play 4-5 when Hedo is in for about 2 minutes), take Paul away that reduces their rotation even more and you’re without your top playmaker and leader
Also Love is a better player and more important to Cleveland than those other two are for Houston so stop reaching with that.
Sure people have overlooked Houstons injuries, but their losses compared to someone like CP3, Love, Conley are nothing. Fact is, Houston has their two best players, Harden and Howard with a deep rotation while the Clippers don’t have their best player, without a deep team to start with.

Mad MaxParticipantStill need to see what Paul’s health is, I assume he’ll return but this is a tough injury and who knows when it could flair up again.
If Paul returns and isn’t significantly hindered by the injury, I think LA has this series won. I just don’t think you can win a series, if you’re Houston after such a terrible effort. There’s no reason why you don’t win this game with Paul out, and when you play that careless and lazy it’ll bite you in ass.
also, Austin Rivers gets criticized a lot (and hey he’s been warranted for most of it) but he’s shown tonight and through the last series he’s a solid player. Remember, he’s only 22 in just his 3rd year as a pro.

Dazzling Dunks and Basketball BloopersParticipantVery sloppy game by Houston. Way too many careless turnovers and poor shots. They played like they just expected to win easily because Paul was out.
