ESPNU Super 60 swingman Justin Anderson verbally committed to Maryland on Thursday, choosing the Terps over UNC, Virginia and Texas among others.

"Justin is one of those electric athletes who can change momentum with his athleticism," according to ESPN’s Sr. Recruiting Analyst Dave Telep. "Justin is a great energy giver and a good teammate."

Anderson, ranked No. 51 overall in his class, is the first recruit for head coach Gary Williams in 2012.

if he ever gets a jumpshot hes gonna be good.  I feel like he also needs to work on that ball handling, but hes got star written all over him and this is a great pick up by Gary Williams

^^^ Was thinking the same thing. Ive only seen him play three times but he looks like a future star. Very athletic and goes hard. I heard his jumper is getting better though. With him, stogin,Faust in the back court along with Peshon Howard the future looks bright

THANK YOU GARY! If you keep recruiting like this, I’mma hop on your bandwagon again. I remember Justin being a top 10 recruit like a year ago, but he’s slipped. IDK why though.

Most players slip if they are ranked high as freshmen. its rare that the top players keep there spot

Because he was ranked so high on potiential as opposed to skill, he was able to dunk as a 5th grader, and was dunking everything as a 8th and 9th grader, and people thought he would be the next big thing, but he didn’t put up the numbers people expected so he droped. His jumper is developing and so are all his skills and he’s becoming more of a basketball player as oppoed to an athleate who plays baskeball, I think he will rise in the rankings in the coming year though.

Yeah that too.  For the most part guys catch up with you as you get older if you develop physically earlier. If you’re a 6’6 freshman with major bounce you are gonna be ranked pretty high but as the years go by other guy’s in youre age group are gonna start to get taller bigger stronger and if you dont add alot to youre game you’re gonna slip
