Well, the Slovenian coach i.e Doncic’s coach is now the Suns head coach. I dont think picking Ayton is set in concrete, although its probably still the best bet. Doncic will certainly go #2 to Sacramento otherwise. I’d imagine Atlanta takes Bagley.

Can’t see the Hawks taking Bagley, they took Collins last year. Maybe Porter if he has a good a workout.

Suns also just hired Doncic’s old head coach so this could be interesting if they go Doncic route. Maybe they try trading down while still landing Doncic. I don’t think they can pass up on Ayton but who knows.

Really wanted Dallas or Memphis to grab Doncic, but we may see an all euro wing combo in Bogdan Bogdanovic and Doncic.

    Suns – Ayton

    Kings – Doncic

    Hawks – Porter

    Grizz – Bagley

Mavs – Bamba is how I see top 5 going, unless Porter has another setback.

Suns should take Ayton he went to school there is from the area. That means Alex Len is gone, Chris or Bender may be gone. A core of Booker, Josh Jackson, Chris and Ayton could be real scary in 3-5 years. The West continues to get more stacked.

If Doncic is as good as people think he is/will be, the new Suns coach would know. If they pass up on him that’d tell me he’s overhyped.

Best statement I’ve seen made, but sometimes you have to go with the physical presence just to matchup with what’s out West (Towns, Jordan, Adams, Cousins*, Davis, Gobert, Jokić).

Not really. Almost everyone has Ayton ahead of him, why should this be any different

I’ve seen several people claim that Doncic is the best Euro prospect of all time. If that’s accurate, the new coach would know and they wouldn’t pass on him.

Suns is the only team I would take Ayton first, cause he’s a lifetime beta kind of player in the nba to me and Suns already have their Alpha guy for the future in Booker so Suns is the best situation for Ayton to thrive!

     My guess is this:

If they are going after a big in Free agency-Clint Capella rumor which makes sense as he could be Suns Rudy Gobert if the coach wants to a) run a system like the Jazz or B) Thinks they should take Luka..

Then they will take either a P.G or a Wing that is super versitle so this means Most likely Luka or Bagley.

If they are going after either a Big or Best player Available they will go after Ayton,Bagley,Luka or Maybe Bamba/Porter(least likely due to limited sample and injury history). This also means they will go after a P.G in free agency..

Me personally I would sit Booker down(he is the franchise star) and ask 3 questions after showing him pros and cons of all prospects.

    1) What do you think we need? Do you want us to get a guard/Wing or Ayton

    2) Who would you like to see us bring in? Get him to list all needs/best fits..Tell him not to be Kentucky biased though.

    3) Would he be against running a couple of sets with prospects to see who will fit potential system for next season..This will see how team would gel and who will fit with Booker and Jackson.

If the Suns are smart and want Booker to lead the charge with Recruiting/Not take only the Q.O they will need to give him the Harden treatment by this I mean get him the coach he likes and will play to his strengthes, get him team mates he will believe in and that can fit well with him.

Ayton is the pick no doubt here, the question mark about him was is not an alpha dog in his nature, but he’s perfect for Suns cause they already have the alpha guy in Booker…

I know people like the Arizona – Ayton connection, including me, but Bagley’s a more legit local from Phoenix. But yeah, it’ll be down to Ayton and Doncic for the first two spots.

This will be an interesting period heading into the draft and I can see other teams trying to get the first pick.

As a Suns fan, I’m delighted we finally got some draft lottery luck – it looks a straight pick between Ayton and Doncic. Logically with the Suns not having a future C already locked down they go with Ayton as likely BPA in the draft, is from the area. The team already have a potential superstar in Booker so it takes a bit of pressure off Ayton being the franchise saviour. Tyson Chandler is there for another season so he would have a great mentor/locker room leader to learn from. Len is gone and you play Bender and Chriss around Ayton going forward.

But with Suns’ new coach having links to Doncic then they could well have a very good case for taking him especially if the coach says he really wants him plus they could potentially use Doncic as the main ball carrier and have him alongside Booker in a long term backcourt.

I think the choice is a straight choice between those two.

The Kings have got some luck getting 2nd pick and with next year’s pick traded away have to get it right. Logically they take whoever the Suns don’t pick out of Ayton or Doncic. They have their PG in Fox and some young frontcourt talent but cannot pass on Ayton if he drops to them and Doncic can play off ball and their SF role isn’t locked down, so whilst they may look at Bagley and co I think they will take whoever Phoenix doesn’t.

Hawks also had a bit of luck getting 3rd pick. Their choices look mainly PFs and they have John Collins possibly set there, Prince looks in situ at SF too. So Bagley is a possible issue here, could him or Collins play C, same with Jaren Jackson. Michael Porter would have Prince in the way but could play at both 3 and 4 so minutes would open up. The flip side is the Hawks only won 24 games so they need help so BPA makes a strong case.

Wendell Carter and Bamba could come into the mix as it gives a C option as Dedmon has a player option he may well decline. If they could trade down and get one of these two plus assets it may be an option.

Plus there is a rumour that Dennis Schroeder wants out the Hawks, given his upside and contract then he’d get suitors, if this did happen then Trae Young or even Colin Sexton could come into the equation. A lot would depend on what deal the Hawks could get but they would want good assets for Schroeder and may well try to get or turn them into another high pick so could be double handed in the top 10.

They could still take Doncic, he can play the point forward like lebron and Simmons.  They will have Booker, TJ Warren and Josh Jackson.  They could look at defensive PG like Marcus Smart or Pat Bev for defense
