what to do...

well to start of i think they should keep triano, hes trying to get them to play defense and he hasnt had enough time to make a turn around with this team, and its nice to have a canadian as the coach.

in the summer the 2 and 3 spots get more vacant when marion leaves. they will need to solve this in the draft and maybe picking up a coulpe free agents, another weak point is that they need a center.. bosh and bargnani are both power fowards, who dont block many shots and are kind of soft, and bosh will probably only be a raptors for one more year anyways.. so in the draft they definately have to go after a 2 or 3 with the first pick, like clark, henderson, budinger, or sam young.. i like budinger, but i dont think he's a fit because all the other guys on the roster are shooters who dont like going to the net, and thats what he does. but any of those picks would be any help to the team. with the second pick they need to bulk up or grab another wing. if they plan to bulk up, id say go with heytveldt from the zags, he will be the best guy with some nba size left in the draft.

for free agents this summer the outlook for good wing players is weak, so they woulw probably get a under the radar guy who might do damage like ime udoka, von wafer, or even desmond mason. To get a shot blocking center i would love to see them get the bird man, chris anderson. he loves to block shots and is an energy player. would work great for this team.

I don't know...

I don't think drafting a wing is necessarily the answer for the Raptors. A rookie wouldn't really make much difference at picks 6-10, especially in this draft. I think the Raps should just go out and try to sign a good deal for a solid wing because EVERYONE is saving cap space for 2010. Probably get a good long term bargain at the wings. What are your thoughts?

easy

Keep bosh.

Ship bargnani while his value is still high for a legit young big center.
If young big center can't be acquired, ship more ppl like calderon or marion (after he's signed) for one.

Afterwards, ship away whoever is left for an athletic, defensive PG or SG. Toronto will have a core trio to work with. After that, wait for lottery or sign new Euro players.

i say

i say bargnani for amare. I know amare isn't a great center, but a bosh, amare combo is gonna be deadly. Along with a good PG/SG and everybody else should be solid defensive players.

bosh

it would be nice to keep bosh but i dont see him signing an extension because he knows he will get a lot more money being a free agent after next year, so id say keep bargnani and get a true center the plays with his back to the basket and have a nice inside outside game, would be nice to have a shot blocker too

also the idea of trading calderon is a bad idea.. he is one of the most consistent point guard and shooters in the league and runs this team nicely...also the fan base loves him so why get rid of a great point guard who doesn't make a lot of money?

ps- marion will not stay in toronto

Raptors will take J.Harden

Raptors will take J.Harden in the draft and sign M.Gortat (6-7mln$ for 3years) from Orlando who is very good defender. They will try to keep S.Marion or trade him for C.Budinger and someone else (good small defender PG-SG)

gortat

i like the idea of signing gortat, he looked good for orlando this year, playing hard d and not even that bad on offense, thats exactly what they neeed, a rebouner/defender/lost post scorer... i also say maybe sign chris anderson, gotta love the birdman

let marion walk

The raps should not re-sign marion, use the cap space plus the cap space left by not resigning graham and parker. Go out and sign free agents ben gordon, trevor ariza and chris andersen with gortat as a plan b if birdman signs elsewhere. Teams are scared to spend money this ummer since they are looking ahead to 2010. The Raps need to jump all over this and sign 3 second and third tier free agents while adding a wing with their draft pick, namely derozan or clark depending on whose available. They should also look to deal Kapono for a veteran point guard on a short deal to give ukic more time to develop.

09/10 raptors roster

i think this is as good as it gets for the raps by the end of this summa:

a) 3-way deal:
Cleveland: Gets Nenad Krstic and cash considerations from OKC
OKC: Gets Jason Kapono
Toronto: after the sign and trade, Anderson Varejao ends up with the Raps

keep in mind OKC has two first round draft picks to get a tall sizeable replacement for Krstic....they can trade one of their players for a second round draft pick and get someone like Josh Heytvelt from Gonzaga...who has height and a decent jumpshot.....also OKC would benefit from Kapono's 3pt range....plus OKC are one of the few teams that has the cap space to afford Kapono's contract....

b) if Raps consider getting rid of Bosh, it has to be for a good purpose....i emphasize of IF.....like they have to get someone equally good....and its gotta be a team that can take his contract.....here is the thing...the Kings are most likely to get the #1 pick.....they jus had a garage sale last season and got rid of basically everyone except for Kevin Martin (their main financial commitment) ....they have cap space....i say give Bosh for their #1 pick and Raps get Griffin....there are many pros and cons to this trade......Bosh is an experienced, all-star and gold medalist...we still don't know what griffin will end up becoming.... Bosh has the smooth jumpshot and Griffin is working on his still....Griffin is a physical presence and Bosh is still working on that....i understand Bosh gets 20 and 10 every game....Griffin can pull up more than 10 rebounds in my opinion...mayb 15-20 pts a game....but if there is anyone who might be able to replace Bosh and gain the raptor's fans respect, its Griffin.....

in Sac's point of view, they keep Bosh for that one year....then if Bosh decided to actually leave to Detroit and play alongside Millsap (word is Detroit are the front-runners for Millsap).....then Sac have that summa to sign whoever......15mil and counting.....long list of good free agents in 2010.....

c) please waive Marcus banks......4 mil for what....to sit on a bench....and who would want him?.... well past his prime

d) re-sign Marion.....i think people are forgetting that Marion isnt gonna get a 17 mil contract (look at his age).....heck, he aint even gettin a 10 mil contract....i figure about an 8.....he is worth signing...excellent defensive presence in the wing position.....great leadership skills on the court....overall, amazing player that gained many raptors fans respect....heyy, we should all learn from past mistakes....look what happened when Matrix left Phoenix and Miami...lol....please no sign and trade.....easier to convince Matrix to stay with Colangelo as GM ( Phoenix connection)

e) sign and trade Anthony Parker

Portland: Gets Anothony Parker
Toronto: Gets Jerryd Bayless and a 2nd draft pick in the 09 draft

this takes care of the Rap's need for a back-up PG ...Bayless can score 20 pts easily but the thing is we will never know when they keep him on the bench....lets be honest, his situation wont change nex season......they'll stick with the same guards and their same game plan nex year as well.....Bayless will get frustrated without doubt....and Anthony Parker is a keeper.....solid 3-pt figures...excellent defensive fundamentals.....will help them in the post-season with his experience..... AP is a very valuable asset to have.....

f) work a deal with any of the teams with 10-15 pick in the 09 draft.....i would say Bulls are the team to work with....Bulls aren't gonna do anything drastic this summa....the more i think about it the more i realize that Bulls won't resign Gordan......they'll jus stick with the team they got....they really dont need both their first round picks.....cuz after 10, the draft is weak......plus we all know in 2010 summa, the Bulls are gonna be the front-runners of D-Wade....especially when Chicago is his hometown and he's already won a title with Miami.....why would he wanna kill himself playin in Miami?......so for Chicago, i see nex season as Deng playin the 3 and Salmons play the 2....

so i suggest work a sign and trade with Joey graham...he is very little financial commitment....

Bulls get: Nate Jawai (they could waive or use him off the bench nex season), Joey Graham, Roko Ukic (could play a solid backup PG role alongside Hunter), and 2nd round Portland pick from the Bayless trade
Toronto: Chicago 1rd round draft pick in 09 draft, and their 2nd round draft pick in '10
with the chicago's pick they draft Ellington.....

g) with most likely the 8 pick, they can draft Derozen......he'll back up Marion in the wing position....and if he becomes the player that people say he'll become, then he will be able to create for himself and for the team

h) they have an option this summa of either signing Jamal Crawford or Ben Gordan.....Sign Ben Gordan to a 5 year $55- 60 mil contract......the raps actually have the money to sign both Marion and Gordan.....there are only a handful of teams that have the cap space to make good signs this season, one of them being the Raps......as for why i went with Gordan rather than Crawford......they both are really the same....look at their figures......plus Crawford has to go with his early termination option......more to deal with.....Gordan is really what the Raps fan's are lookin for in a SG position....jus needs to work on his defense.....but that shouldnt be a problem....

09/10 roster:

*Andrea Bargnani > Anderson Varejao > (S) Patrick O'Bryant
*Blake Griffin > Kris Humphries > Pops N Bensu > (S) Jake Voskuhl
*Shawn Marion > Dermar Derozen
*Ben Gordan > Carlos Delfino > Wayne Ellington
*Jose Calderon > Jerryd Bayless > (S) Quincy Douby
* = starter, (S) = not in 12 man squad
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

- will this squad become a strong Eastern contender??.......thats a hard question to answer....depends on a lot of things....will Grffin be as good as he says he is or jus a better version of Humphries.....can Griffin get 20 and 15 a game....or almost 20 pts.....will he get better on his jumper........with more mins in the raps system, will Varejao and Bayless shine to their potential.....will Varejao continue to keep gettin offensive rebounds, something raps have been stugglin for a long time.....will Gordan keep scorin the way he did against the Celtics a couple of weeks ago......will he do it throughout the season...will Calderon stay healthy......will Derozen become a strong wing player as people say he'll become......will Bargnani continue to get better.....if these do come out true, and they all stay healthy, then Toronto will become a legitimate contender in the east.....

i see Cleveland, Orlando, Boston, Toronto, Atlanta, Philly, Chicago, and Charlotte in the playoffs nex season....with this squad, they are in the elite four or perhaps 2.....depending on how well the Raps players mesh...like i mentioned in the earlier paragraph......but honestly, i see this squad as the best option for Toronto.....

theyre going to play it smart

first off colangelo is one of the most brilliant gms in the league. im sure we can all agree on that. hes not going to completely revolutionize his team and start by trading bosh at the draft. hes still his go to guy whether i want him traded regardless because lets face it he wants to leave even though he wont admit it. i believe colangelo will keep his pick and take a player such as earl clark, demar derozen or even tyreke evans. some experts in washington believe that if the wiz dont get a first or second overall they want to trade down. i feel that this is an opportunity for colangelo to make moves for a possible third or fourth selection. possibly a sign and trade involving a free agent which would result in the raps getting either thabeet or harden depending on how the draft camps go. as for free agennts i believe the raps will make an attempt at getting a defense stopper at the three position in ron artest or i think they should attempt in getting the still unproven marvin williams. as for role players to help the bench succeed i believe in signings of the likes of leon powe (although hes injured until the all star break),or brandon bass, i would love to get the birdman over here in TO but he is loved by denver fans to much to want to leave and he loves being there, i think dahtnay jones can be a great defensive prescence to replaces parker at the wing, charlie v always loved playing in TO and i feel colangelo might want to bring the old rook back, jamal crawford also has a lot of potential to create the high energy basketball that triano preaches. grant hill's wife is from hamilton, ontario which located right near TO he would make a great addition of leadership and he comes at a cheap price. and my final free agent inwhich i can see having potential in TO as a role player is Ime Udoko coming out of the Popovich system.

And hopefully the raps can waive banks' contract and trade away kapono for anything even a second round pick just to dump his contract, we dont need 6 million a year for lack of d and unconsistent amounts of threes.

And ur all probably wondering what about ben gordon. dont get me wrong im a huge ben gordan fan but the raps dont need is another shooter, they need a creater, a passer one who gets on defense...the raps big three in calderon, bosh and bargnani is enough shooting to go around.

I feel this will be more likely to work based on the cap.

My final roster outlook before the season begins will hopefully look something like this...

Starting Five:
PG: Jose Calderon (8.2 million)
SG: Danhtay Jones (we can lure him for 2 years 6 million)
SF: Ron Artest (hopefully the can get him for 3 years 30 million considering hes only make 8.5 million as of now)
PF: Chris Bosh (15.7 million)
C: Andrea Bargnani (6.5 million)

Second Unit:
PG: Roko Ukic (1.35 million)
SG: Demar Derozen (rookie contract so roughly 2.5 million)
SF: Ime Udoko (get him for about 3 years 6 million hes only making 1.2 mill as of right now)
PF: Grant Hill (i know hes a three but hes shown signs to play as 2,3, or 4)(we can get grant for about 2 million thats all hes asked for in the past and thats about all hes making right now)
C: Kris Humpries (humpries has been injured all of last season hes going to show why he was taken 11th overall in '04)(3.2 million)

other players:
Pops Mensah Bonsu
Patrick O'Bryant
Nathan Jawai (these three guys combined are making like 3 million)

the cap should be around 57.45 million in the end if all goes my plan...this finalized team will have plenty of defense and a much more explosive second unti led by the speedy ukic. eventually derozen will crack the starting line making the second unit more of a defensive unit with danhtay on that adjustment to the roster.

give me some suggestions on what u guys believe is fair or unfair about my results.
