I’m a Piston fan so this will be Detroit centric but whateva.

Henry Ellenson is looking a little like a baby Dirk. He’s still raw for the Big leagues but he’s looking like a big talent. Gotta continue to gain strength in order to rebound and defend a big in the NBA but his scoring is super polished for a 20 yo

I’m glad Luke Kennard has been getting his because Donovan Mitchell is looking great but I’ll get back to him. Luke will score in the league. Finishing will be an issue but I think on a good team as a 4th 5th option at SG he’s going to be an efficient weapon. He’s gotta mean pull up mid range game. I think if he gets stronger he could get to the rim a little more effectively because he is actually crafty when finishing.

Markelle Fultz looks solid although sort of reserved in SL. I think he is a star but it concerns me as to how will that work in Philly with 3 other players most effective with the ball [Saric, Simmons, Embiid]

Don Mitchell like I said is looking great. Very much like a tony Allen with more offensive fire power. I think it’s been a little unusually easy for him to shine though because Exum is there and by fat the best player playing in the summer league.  Not even sure why he’s playing. He looks like a future star though. Maybe never an all star but he’s got a lot of potential left.

Jayson Tatum looks a lot more explosive than I thought he was…looks like Brandon Ingram with a jumper. Easily the most impressive rookie I think he’ll be the top player from this class when it’s said and done.

Not impressed with Leaf Isaac or Murray for the Spurs. Leaf will be a role player at best,  Isaac needs to figure out his position. Although he’s looked great physically his offensive game won’t be efficient until he can score in a complimentary role. I’m just not sold on Dejaunte Murray. There’s no way he’s ready to start next year probably not even the year after that.

What has you discouraged about Murray? His shooting? Decision-making? Defense?

Leaf – is a good fundamental ballplayer.  Not overly skilled but will be like a David Lee type, he will always make the right play.

Isaac – he seems injury prone.  He’s had a history of injuries in high school and is an asthmatic, and in the NBA he will play 82 games and get bumped into all the time..  He also isn’t very explosive.  As good a defender as he is, he doesn’t react quickly enough to be effective.

Murray – is okay.  He was a late 1st round pick.  He’s serviceable.  Nobody expects him to be a star.

Tatum – great body.  Broad shoulders.  Easily belongs in the NBA.  Great size and skill.  Obvious question is what will he do against real NBA defenders, remember its Summer League and Summer league has been horrible to watch at points.

Donovan Mitchell – I am very impressed.  He is faster and hustles more, has everything to his game, but again he is doing it against summer leaguers.  I love his hustle.

Exum – you really see all these flashes of brilliance?  I think Jaylen Brown is a much better prospect than Exum.  Exum does not finish strong.  He has a lot to work on, Utah spent all day talking about it.  Fultz looks better and he is two years younger.  I don’t see much of a difference between Exum and Dejounte Murray who you aren’t high on.

Fultz – his teammates are pretty horrible.  It will be a different story when he can use his space he will get from Simmons and Embiid, Reddick and Covington.  He can slash at will, makes good passes.  And is silky smooth scorer.  He is just what Philly needs.  I do wonder if signining Lowry and Reddick and drafting Jackson or Tatum may have been better for the Sixers than only getting Fultz, who obviously has things he can work on like his defense and finishing a the rim.  I want to see Fultz get enough space to throw down dunks.  But Or I want to see him get in the lane, understand he is attracting three or four guys (which he definitely is), and look to make the pass on the drive instead of forcing a badly positioned layup.  He is under pressure of trying to do too much to show why he is the #1 pick, while also being an excited rookie.  I really want to see him throw down a monster dunk in the way is blocking shots.  he’s as advertised, the same player in college.  Kid is sharp. Will be even better with space.

Kennard and Ellenson can both shoot.  But its the NBA man.  Everyone is big strong and fast.  Ingram has great length and struggled.  What makes you think Kennard won’t.  Ellenson is just a tweener, and a white tweener.  I hope he gets confidence and starts hitting his 3s, like I hope Dougie McBuckets does too, just t osee more great skill play in the Eastern Conference especiallly.  But his size, lack of athleticism will hold him back.  Same with Kennard, he just isn’t athletic enough, welcome t othe world of Nik Stauskas.

i watched one of leafs games and i thought he looked good. So far through 3 games hes averaging 13ppg on 49% shooting in 27mpg to go with 6 rpg. I did feel like he floated around the perimter too much always trying to set on ball scfreens then fading out to the three line. Would like to see him mix it up more down low. But he didnt settle for bad jumpers, he attacked off the dribble and got into lane.

Bam- He’ll have a role right away with the Heat as a high motor backup big to Whiteside and has plenty of room to grow. He’s shown some dribbling and mid range skills similar to his high school mixtape. He won’t do much in year 1 but in 3-4 years he may be more than just an energy big.

I really like the Tatum and Mitchell have played. Fultz is just getting his feet wet & Bam has been awesome.

Kennard looks like a light version of Gordon Hayward to me and will have a nice career, Elleson has clearly put in work and could be a starter in the NBA one day soon.

Leaf looks good, he is what I’d expect him to be and I think he will develop into a very nice bench scorer as a stretch-4, he was not drafted to be a star

Isaac is talented, but super raw he will need time and to remain healthy to reach his ceiling.

Tatum looks the best to me sad he is not on a team like the nets where he could hoist 20 shots a game but he adds to bostons bench depth and if they get one of those top3 players next year I think they make the finals. I hope Boston gets innovative with the lineup and trades either Bradley or crowder and let’s tatum start because him Hayward and Thomas will be able to light up scoreboards.  If they can trade smart, crowder, and Bradley and get Marc Gasol in return I think they would be ready to dethrone Cleveland this year.

Murray needs to just be effective getting around the court with the ball his lack of creativity and decision making SUCK sometimes. He is still 19 I just haven’t seen anything to get excited about even though I want to. Just wanna see what Pop sees

He has looked good but that boy needs to win a game bad.  He has not been part of the winning side of a basketball game since Washington beat Colorado 85-83 in OT on January 18th.

As everyone should already know, you have to take things in summer league with a massive grain of salt, but many of the guys you expect to do well have done well thus far.

The most impressive guy I have watched has been Tatum, but Fultz has generally been good the only concerning number I have seen has been his assists (a large part of that is his teammates). Kennard hasn’t been great from 3pt range, but has shown much of what I saw at Duke (creativity, great midrange game, footwork, excellent at FT line).

Bam has impressed me more than expected, he exploded and then settled back down, but his physicality and energy will translate on day 1. He can definitely backup Whiteside.

Donovan Mitchell has been almost exactly what everyone thought he would be, an athletic combo guard, his offense may be better than first expected. I take Exum’s success with a grain of salt because of his relative age/experience when compared to the other summer league guys – its not to say he hasn’t been good and that his success isn’t a good spring board into training camp but I am not ready to buy a ton of stock yet either.

Ellenson’s development from the outside is key for Detroit and fortunately he plays with Drummond because it doesn’t look like he will ever be a major rebounder. He is a kid I liked out of high school and college, at his height he can definitely play the stretch-4.

Bacon looks the part of a bench scorer and it also looks like Johnny O’Bryant has played himself into an NBA role.

I am excited to watch Vegas as a number of the guys who played in Orlando/Salt Lake City will get further opportunities to play after getting some of the nervousness out.

Murray clearly came in super confident and comfortable. The guy’s talent oozes out on the court but he’s still quite raw. We have to remember that guys like Murray, Brown and Ellenson are basically given the freedom to do whatever they want. Definitely not ready to have the keys on offense yet, but I’m not entirely dissapointed by Murray.

OKC’s rookie policy of leaving these guys entirely in the D-League seems to be working out (at least as far as we can tell in summer league). Dakari Johnson and Josh Huestis both looked much improved and could play a role on the team next season.

Obviously as a Duke homer, I’m stoked to see Tatum doing well. I had my own opinions on him and it’s good to see others seemingly coming around to that same opinion.

Bacon has been killing it and looks like an NBA player. On the otherhand, the other bubble first round guy that dropped Motley has been extremely disappointing so far.

Dante Exum is in Summer league this year because he was challenged in his exit interviews to improve next year. If he does not improve the Jazz are not afraid to trade him for someone that will do well like Lyles was for Mitchell. He first starting working with Baron Davis in Anaheim, California (I think) and is now in summer league tearing it up. I’m hoping that he can be next year’s MIP. His status in summer league is a little different than most other player’s is. ESPN had an article about it before Utah’s Summer League began on the 3rd.

I love what Mitchell, Bradley, and Dante have been doing. All are looking like serviceable players in the future, expecially Mitchell and Exum.

It’s interesting to me that some think Fultz’ looks good out there. 6-16 (with one make being a bs straight away bank-in 3) for 17pts, 4 to’s and 1 assist.  Second game he scored a little better, but still had 6 to’s and had/has trouble finishing around the rim. Also shot a couple of airballs. He’s shooting low 40%, averaging 2 to’s to 1 assist and is like a -15 when on the floor. Can’t make any claims off of SL games, but I wasn’t impressed with what I saw in college and not overly impressed with what he’s done here. Think he and Ball are gonna struggle this year.

Fultz had one bad quater. He was 6-11 through 3 quarters that first then hit the wall. It was his first game in nearly 6 months, it was to be expected.

11 to’s to 6 assists and shooting low 40% from the floor isn’t one bad quarter. Let’s also not avoid that the one game he sits, the Sixers win. Obviously not solely his fault, but it is something to note.

If you take out that one bad quater he was 56% from the floor. Given it was his first game action in nearly 6 months his turnovers were to be expected
