I’m as big a fan of exum and the “what if” dynamic he brings to this years draft, but would the sixers trade a proven player( MCW) for a player(EXUM) whose NBA comparison is that player(MCW) and we don’t know anything about him!I If anything they would draft him because they believe he can play with MCW and grow in the system. Again this is not a knock on exum but this is the draft not dare.

    Thanks in advance,

    Management LOL

Also stop saying McDermott is a top ten pick. The sixers will not be taking him either. Thanks.

With two big athletic players like MCW and Exum in the backcourt, I would say McDermott would be a perfect pick next to them.

The sixers can find more value with that pick. If they were picking in the 20s I would agree with you, but Mcdermotts inside play isn’t going to be even close to what it was in college. The sixers don’t need a guy who can hit 3’s and recorded 0’s for steals and blocks throughout his college career. He is probably one of, if not the worst defender in the first round. I’m sorry but I don’t get why people are so high on him for the nba. It’s like no one has ever watched him play real competition before. He has almost no translatable skills, besides shooting.

Im not ‘Pro-Exum’ or ‘Anti-MCW’, but you build to win it all, not just to compete. I now personally think MCW can be a star (thought he was a bust this time last year), but many places I read scouts saying he’ll be good to very good, but not great. If Im the Sixers, and I see/know more of both MCW and Exum than anyone of us on here, then he should know enough to make an intelligent decision. If they believe MCW will not become great, while Exum can, then why not sell MCW high to a team who thinks differently?

Again, Im not saying he should be traded, but STOP IT!! with the believe that it’s unconceivable that MCW could be traded. It’s like stocks, if you buy something low, and you believe the value has raised as much as it can, then sell. A great rookie season doesn’t mean a great player to be, think Tyreke Evans.

MCW, 10, 39, and 52 for the 4th pick, 12, Moe Harkless, and Jason Maxiell ($2.5 million expiring contract), and cash could be a good trade for both teams.

MCW and Oladipo would be a great backcourt.  Then they get the 10th pick too.

Philly gets the third and fourth pick to go with Nerlens Noel, Thad Young, and Tony Wroten.  They also pick at 12 and add a solid small forward in Moe Harkless.

Philly could get Wiggins anyway.  Or, Jabari Parker.  Then put him with Exum on the wing.  Their wing core would be Wiggins/Parker, Exum, Harkless, and Tony Wroten.  At 12, they could go with Shabazz Napier or Tyler Ennis to be their new point guard of the future.  Napier would be a better shooter and scorer and a good complement for Exum and Wiggins/Jabari.

Maxiell would give them another tough, long, undersized power forward to go with Thad Young.

With their 32nd pick the Sixers could go with some more size and some help at the 4.  Possibly Patric Young, Jarnell Stokes, Mitch McGary, or Isiah Austin.  Then go with some solid role players at 47 and 54.

Next year, they can get their other big man to pair with Nerlens Noel.

In my mind, Exum at number 4 to Orlando might be bigest gamble of the lottery, even more so than Zach LaVine. At least we’ve seen LaVine’s skill set for an entire year at  the NCAA D1 level and know what he’s capable of.  NO ONE has even seen Exum play anything but under 19 ball, and at that, only 4 games.  Yes he looks impressive, but against older more mature physical players, we really don’t know that Exum’s anything close to Penny Hardaway or whoever else you want to compare him too. MCW had 2 years of elite NCAA D1 experience after high school to prepare for the NBA.  At least there was something to look at, although the "experts" who are touting Exum had MCW as the next Marcus Williams or playing in Europe after the guarantee of his rookie contract (2 years). How wrong they were!

The reason I have a visceral negative reaction to any posts suggesting trading MCW is not because I think that he is untouchable. It is because there is simply no reason to trade him for anyone.

Fans think that building an NBA team is like playing a game with monopoly money and they try to get way too cute with ideas that include major restructuring every year.

Players, coaches and GM’s are people. Currently, Hinkie has a lot of credibility with the fans because of his shrewd moves that he has already made. People have accepted the fact that we stink and don’t expect us or want us to make the playoffs next year, but perceptions can change quickly.

Trading MCW for anything other than a MASSIVE offer that nobody is going to give us would be unserious in the least and a panicky move at the worst. It only takes one bonehead move for credibility to plummet.

If you gamble in vegas and hit a big jackpot you would be a complete fool to take all of your winnings and immediately place them on the roulette wheel again. That is what losers do. Winners form a strategy and follow it out methodically making only calculated risks when opportunities arrise.

MCW is the ROY, and a high character, elite athlete at a premium position. He has no redflags about him at all. His weaknesses are things that can be coached up and improved on. There is no justification for gambling on trading him.

Exum is the hot blonde that you see at the bar. Are you going to break up with your girlfriend or wife just for the opportunity to get with the hot blonde? It is recklass and against our interests to act this way.

Build off of MCW and Noel and make two more excellent draft picks in the top ten of the draft and keep the train rolling. Draft Exum if you want to, but only if you expect him to be an awesome shooting guard in the same back court with MCW.

Very well put, if fans had their way the 76ers would be in the lottery every year and they would keep trading their picks for the next years picks.

Even if MCW is a really good player according to what you say, and not great…with picks 3,10 and Noel you definitely could still build a winning squad….I’m sorry?
