Mr.Knick 32ParticipantAs someone who lived in the NYC area, I’m glad to see St. John getting all these recruits for next season. I truly think Steve Lavin should be able to rebuild the Johnnies as a semi-superpower in the East.
With that being said, how was this man NOT picked up earlier? Lavin was out of coaching for 7 seasons yet I never heard his name really in coaching discussions before until Kentucky called him before looking for John Calipari went to Lexington. People forget: Lavin recruited very well at UCLA and besides his final season, made the NCAA tourney.
We’d probably never know and there proabably isin’t a answer but: How come some of these average teams ( Mississippi State, Arizona, Missouri, North Carolina State, Michigan, etc) didn’t consider this man before?

McWinningParticipantHes definetly done a good job recruiting, theres no doubt hes continue to get the bigtime recruits, i still question his gameday coaching, Saint Marys is a pretty good team, and theres gonna be a learning curve for his young players.
Most of those schools could use him, but why did you put Missouri there? Hes rebuilt Missouri, just like he did Uab (making them a sweet sixteen team in his second year, after being a losing team the last couple years).
And hes done the same to Missouri, Lavins a better recruiter, but ill take Anderson.

NbanflguyParticipantDid anyone see that St Johns game againts Saint mary’s? I think Saint mary’s attempted 24 free throws in the last 2 minutes and St Johns got like 26 points. St Johns just refused to give up and kept getting bucket after bucket. I like that in a team and it really shows alot about their coach

Mr.Knick 32ParticipantI put Missouri up there just because I couldn’t think of a Big 12 school off the top lol.
Yes, St. Johns should be alright this season because they have TONS of seniors on that team.

llperezi love lavin. He is an amazing recruiter. He was also ripped every year he was at ucla for his lack of discipline. Think about this, the most talented team i have ever seen at ucla who had like 6 nba players lost in the first round of the tournament to detroit. Recruiting=A+ coaching =D+. I am pulling for him though, very likable.
