S.T.A.T & the State of NY
Since his SR of HighSchool Amare has been trying to show coaches & teammates that he is a leader. Although, he went to 7 or 8 HS, He never was a bad kid with emotional problems he just needed direction & for someone to make him accountable (his father died when he was 12 so that left him with no Male Role Model.) When he was drafted by the Suns, they had Nash entrenched as a Leader of the Clubhouse. So after leaving the Sun's Amare wanted a team he could call his own. Now he is the leader & Voice inside the Knicks locker room. And I think he would be even more Celebrated if the Knicks were winning more. My ? if the Knicks get Melo would Amare have to step aside since a Superior or Equal Talent is on the club? Or Can they get along as 2 Alpha-Dog's in the clubhouse & bring out the best in their less talented teammates?
2nd Topic. How can Knicks get better if they add Anthony 22mill for next 3years? Will they have Cap Felixibility to add pieces around Melo? aslo how good can WCHandler & DGallinari get?
WChandler is 23 yrsold # so far this year 16ppg/6rebs & DGallinari is 22 yrs old # this year 16&5rebs. Thats a ton of production & youth/upside to give up & trade away. that is a hard decision to make.
I know winning in NY is important now because of all of the losing in the past, but with added depth they could still be playoff contenders this year & next, they have Momentum going in the Garden with a SuperStar & great supporting cast and this is good for the NBA. But in order to go from a Perennial 6th-8th seed they may have to get another SStar. But How many & which one. Accodring to SPippen you need "Two & a half Men" to compete for Chip. So if NY Gets Melo should they keep/resign RFelton or go after CP3, Or Add DHoward to Roster in 12?
My thing is if you go after CP3 & Melo is on the Roster that's 3 MAX guy's on your team unless 1 takes less $$. Felton & CP3 will be in their prime in 2012. When Felton Contract expires.
CP3 # this year 16/10assts/3stls/25 yrs old
RFelton 17/9assts/2stls/ 26yrs old
You could play out Next 2 years & resign Felton for 4yr 24mill deal/leave room on the Books for DHoward & Entice him to bring his act to BroadWay . Max Him Out under the Next CBA. And with Amare 30 yrs old he could still have tons of years left to Compete. I Know it's premature but here is the Premise anyway.
Frontline of WChandler/Amare/DHoward with $ for a supporting cast of vets or rookie role players
CP3/Melo/Amare with no $$ for key players
Or Melo 22Mill/Amare/Benoit Benjamin @ Center. I'm just saying if they gut their team they won't have any $ to sign key players.
Here's my Fav in 2 years RFelton/LFields/WChandler/Amare/DHoward & Bench Vet PG/Solid PF/C & Buckets off of the Bench=DGall
They did not have Nash when they drafted Amare. Marbury was still the starting point for the Suns. I see where you are going with this post though and it makes sense. He did want a team to call his own and to seperate himself from Nash. I think if Melo came in though, there might or might not be some problems. When he was with the Suns, Marion and him butted heads because they both wanted to be "the guy". That ubruptly caused Marion to be traded because he was older and Amare had better stats. But its been a long time since that and he looks as if he has grown up a lot more since then. He also learned leadership from Nash and wanted to be that type of franchise player. I mean, he didn't even complain when he was benched an entire 4th quarter on the Suns when the reserves were getting the job done. That shows that he can take a backseat when he needs to. I think as long as he continues to get his stats, he wouldn't have a problem with Melo. But I guess we won't really know unless it happens.
Forgot about that, Sun's were loaded with that team. If they could have Kept JJohnson/Nash/Amare that could have been an interestin trio of scorers.
