The Beko BBL announced the first awards for the 2012-2013 season. It was announced that ratiopharm Ulm center John Bryant (208-C-87, college: Santa Clara) was named best offensive player and Brose Baskets Bamberg guard Anton Gavel recieved best defensive player. Bryant led the voting with 135 points while Phoenix Hagen guard Davin White had 68 points and FC Bayern MUnich guard Tyrse Rice got 26 points. Alba Berlin guard Dashaun Wood got the award last season.This season Bryant is averaging 16,4ppg and 10,1rpg and is shooting 49,5% from the field. The Beko BBL also announced that Anton Gavel was voted best defensive player for the second straight season. Gavel who is 29 and 189cm big recieved 88 points in the voting. Quantez Robertson of the Fraport Skyliners was second with 73 points while John Bryant was third with 31 points.

Lets see a seven footer, fantastic rebounder and league leading offensive player. And the NBA doesn't draft the guy because he was a little chubby in college. Nice move GMs.
But let's give Kurt Thomas another contract at 40. And Juan Howard is going to play in the playoffs this year.
Lob city should invite him to the summer league team, give him a shot. He could be a good back up center for them
