San Antonio is set to get some front-court help with Splitter (their 2007 draft pick) finally signing with the team.

I am always a bit skeptical with international players but this guy has been playing pro ball for 10 years and isn’t some 17 year old kid. Also, the Spurs have been arguably the most successful franchise when it comes to drafting international prospects. Based on what I’ve seen I suspect Splitter’s immediate impact will be on the defensive end, but I’m hoping he can contribute offensively as well. At the very least it gives SA some much needed size.

Universal, do you think the Spurs regret their failure to keep Louis Scola? I believe Coach Pop. said that was one of the biggest mistakes he ever made.

I’ve heard very good things about Splitter but I never saw him play so I would appreciate any comments from the guys who actually watched him in action.

Not only international players. Most of the Spurs draftpicks are really good.

Yeah they’re worst pick I can think of is Jack McClinton….And that is a low risk fail considering he was a 2nd round selection at a position they are/were deep at (SG)

The Spurs got the consensus best big man in Europe for the same amount the Knicks paid Timofey Mozgov.

I have zero worries about him in the NBA. If a guy can play at a star-like level in the Euroleague, he can be in the rotation in the NBA. The Spurs will need to lean heavily on guys like Splitter, Blair, Anderson, Hill, Gee, and Temple to get their vets through the regular season in tact. If they can do that, they are still dangerous in the playoffs.

As a Spurs fan I am extremely excited about this addition, he is considered to be the best player in the best league outside of the NBA and has received a Finals MVP and received the season MVP award this last season. No idea how they signed him for less than the full MLE
