So what do the Spurs do? Manu may be done, Parker and Pau are getting there. Dedmon will probably go, Mills will re-sign. Unsure about Simmons, someone could really pay him. Do they have anyone in Europe?

I’d like to see them get George Hill back. I also think Bogut has some left in the tank and could be a cheap pickup. Plays D, passes it well, good IQ, will fit the system. I have them taking Jeanne late in the first round too.

They’ll still win 50+ no doubt even if they made no moves at all. Theyve only made a few moves in such a long time, is the time approaching where that changes?

They Probably won’t but they should try to move LaMarcus.

I totally agree with them needing to move Aldridge, the move to sign him hasn’t worked out. The guy averaged 11 ppg in the 3 games when the Spurs needed him the most, he doesn’t do mcuh in terms of rebounding or passing. The problems are that the Spurs are not an organization that likes giving up on players, and also that there probably aren’t many takers for Aldridge at this point.

Maybe, if Griffin and Paul decide to leave the Clippers, the Clippers will agree to a sign and trade deal involving Chris Paul and Aldridge, that would be perfect for the Spurs.

As for European guys, I think their only notable guy is Nikola Milutinov, who they may bring over next year. Davis Bertans might be able to step up in a bigger role next year, they’ve also got Livio Jean-Charles, but I’m not sure if he is an NBA player.

They’ll be fine though, they’ve got the best reputation in the league and the best two-way player in the NBA on a very team-friendly deal.

Highly doubtful they can get anything for Aldridge that will recoup his regular-season production. They’ve won 67 and 61 games with Aldridge as their clear second-best player. The dude doesn’t suck. Like a lot of guys, playoff-level defense from a locked-in team flusters him. He can work on that, but if they trade him for lesser players the Spurs aren’t the #2 seed anymore.

As a Spurs fan I will be heartbroken if they don’t pay Simmons. He does bonehead things sometimes, but watching how much this guy cares gives me a hard-on.

If they add someone of note it should be a versatile forward who can fit into the front court with Kawhi and Aldridge. Mirotic intrigues me a little but I don’t know if he’s a Spurs-type guy.  Maybe Milutinov is that guy, I will have to google him. Bertans is skilled but kind of robotic: I see him in the Matt Bonner role going forward. Standing pat and giving more minutes to Slo-Mo alongside Kawhi and Aldridge is not a bad idea.

Yeah they should move him but his value is low now.

I like the idea that Anton123 posted, concerning Paul, but if that doesn’t happen they should wait for the regular season and try to get his value up before doing any moves, unless something like the already mentioned Paul Aldridge deal appears .

I would try to sign Kyle Lowry or KCP.  Would also bring in anyone who could pair with Aldridge.  Noel, Ibaka…someone like that

Pau was almost unplayable at times against the Warriors, it was sad how bad his pick and roll defense was. He’s fine in the regular season but they need to find someone else to fill the big off the bench role for the playoffs (as someone said, maybe Bogut)

If Luke Kennard somehow slips, I could see them drafting him. Danny Green seems to have been on the decline over the past couple of years.

Problem is that they’ll be paying Pau more than 16 mil next year. And also pay Parker 15+ mil and no one knows how productive he will be. Thats over 30 mil tied up on two question marks (although TP has a good track record).

Manu ate up 14 million that (if he retires) will probably shift over to Simmons. But before I’m so quick to give that money to Simmons, I would try to see if the Spurs could make a play for Hayward. He seems like he fits in style-wise and personality wise with the organization. And I’d also make a strong play for Lowry. If Lowry is serious about wanting a ring, he’s going to have to lower his expectations as far as a pay day. No serious contenders are paying him max money. Spurs would be the most ideal fit for him to win his championship unless he wants to become a back-up.

How much cap space are the Spurs going to have? They aren’t typically a team that goes out and spends big in FA – which is part of what makes them so romantic – but if they do want to get back up there competing with GS, they may need to continue pursuing players in the open market.

Assuming Ginobili retires, what can they do from a financial perspective? I see peoepl say sign Lowry or Paul or KCP and I can’t help but wonder if that’s realistic given the contracts those players will command.

Gasol and Parker might play the final year of their contracts and retire

Dedmon showed alot of promise this season, I think they retain him.

I don’t expect them to find a steal at 29 like they did Murray last year, but it is the Spurs so whomever they get will probably be a gem noone else had ranked as a first rounder like Thornwell, Hicks or Lydon.

they probably aslo have eyes on one of the centers like Swanigan,Bradley or Jeanne.

I expect them to get a good SG that they can ard to thier core. Donavan Mitchell, Luke Kennard, Wesley Iwundu, Dwayne Bacon would all be very good fits. They will also likely bring over Mulitinov who is playing in Serbia.

…Justin Jackson? Sweet stroke from deep to open things up for KL and TP drives. I also like Thornwell in this spot, think he’s a tough competitor and would fit right into some of the Simmons/Manu minutes.

Any chance they hit a homerun and Frank Jackson is still available for them?

The Spurs should go after a bunch of Golden State Warriors role players: Javale McGee as a centerpiece shot blocker/dunker inside, Iggy as a do-it-all wing player who is basically a small forward but who could play the 1 or 4 in lineups featuring a heavy dosage of Kawhi Leonard.  Shaun Livingston is a taller pass-first point guard who should be great in Pop Ball in limited minutes.  If they move on from Tony Parker then I like him as their third point guard to go along with Mills and Murray.

I am shopping both Pau and Aldridge.  I will take draft picks in the back half of the lottery plus quasi-bad contracts.  I wonder if a Blazers reunion would work. Portland has some tasty first round picks…

If I am Coach Pop I am studying up on the triangle offense this summer.  I think the Spurs can build a championship team around Kawhi Leonard if they fashion a reloaded roster in the mold of the Jordan/Pippen Bulls teams.

They have to get younger and more athletic and that’s just all there is to it. I hated the LA signing at the time, the guy is soft as warm butter, doesn’t rebound or defend and his offense keeps getting further and further from the basket.

Ive never understood the fascination with having a guy 7 foot tall shoot 20 footers. If you’re going to shoot a 20 footer, why not have someone who is good at it do it.

I’m not sure where the Spurs go from here, but if they don’t get it figured out they’ll waste Leonard’s best years because this team as is cant go any further than it just did. I’m a fan so I hope they have a plan.

The problem with getting younger and more athletic is that it usually also means getting worse at basketball.

Spurs are in an incredible spot…The reason why the Warriors have been able to be so good is because of their contract situations. Curry got a contract that was literally half of his market value because he hurt his ankle. The Spurs, have the same thing going with Kawhii and LA. The cap is what 107 mil? Those two combined will make only 40 mil combined. And Kawhii is signed through 2020! For 20 mil!

The Spurs will still be good. What they are doing is just waiting for Manu and Parker to hang them up, paying them their respects, and after next year you have cap space for days.

What this team needs, and has needed for a while now, is a good PG. Mostly one that can play some defense. Parker is great, and that run they were on a few years ago was unbelievable. But I attribute that more to the system they play in, and not so much the players. Parker and Manu have literally looked cooked half the time I watch them play. Getting younger, faster, and more athletic is only going to help the Spurs.

This year will be a very telling year for the Spurs. Does Parker and Manu come back? Do you pay Simmons, Dedmon, and Patty Mills?

I do think they are the favorites to get CP3, and if not him, than I could see them going after another strong PG in this FA crop. Teague, Lowry, and even George Hill would all be good additions to this team.

I could also see veteran players looking to go there considering they are the only team with even a punchers chance against GSW and CLE the next couple of years. We saw guys take pay cuts this year, and I would be surprised to see vets do the same.

DWade, Reddick, D Rose, and Rondo are all guys who could end up in SA and I wouldn’t be shocked.
