Kokayne_DawkinzParticipantNo embid? IMO he’s been playing greet and at times has been the reason why Kansas has won some key games like the one at ISU. I don’t see why Aaron Gordan makes it over him or even his own teammate Brandon Ashley who’s been playing just as week and have been a bite more consistent

machu46ParticipantI think that kinda shows the difference between the All-American teams and an NBA prospect. Embiid might be the best prospect in the country, but he’s only putting up 10-11 points and 7 rebounds a game. He’ll make the Freshman All-American team, but not one of these three teams with the numbers he currently has.
Having said that, let’s see what his numbers look like at the end of the year, because he and Wiggins are starting to take more control of the team as the season has gone on.

PhogifyParticipantNot saying that Embiid is deserving of All-American praise but he is much than an NBA prospect for KU, he has been their best player since he was given minutes. There are a couple games KU woldn’t have won without Embiid.

machu46ParticipantI never said he was just a prospect. He’s been great for them. But the All-American teams are heavily based on statistics, and since getting more minutes like you pointed out, he’s averaging 12 points and 7-8 rebounds and 2-3 blocks per game. That might be good enough to make the 3rd team, but it won’t be enough for the top two teams.
But like I said, he’ll likely continue to get better and better as the year goes on, so maybe by the end of the year, we’re talking about something like 15, 10, and 4 instead, and that would probably be enough to start talking about the first two teams.

Kokayne_DawkinzParticipantYeah but to put another freshman in gordan over him is a joke gordan is an 4th option on his team and how many times can you say wow he just lead his team to an win. I just feel like Embid has played better than gordan who has very little pressure on him. I’ll rather have embody or even someone like clarkson, ejim, or even pinksston on the 3 team.

PhogifyParticipantAaron Gordon on this list is laughable, there are a couple of his own teammates that I would put on there before him.

Sewok15ParticipantLike Nick Johnson who is on the first team list? Gordon is clearly the 2nd best player on that team. He is their leading rebounder and 2nd in scoring and blocks. Now are there other players more deserving than Gordon around the nation like TJ Warren comes to mind averaging 22 and 7 and shooting over 50%, however nobody else on his team is more deserving even though Ashley, Tarczewski, Hollis-Jefferson and McConnel are all playing very well. Gordon’s 47% from the foul line scares me but it hasn’t lost them any games yet so I have no problem putting him on the list.
Embiid being left off makes sense considering his numbers aren’t going to jump out at you…but if you have watched Kansas lately you see how important he is to their success. I am surprised that not one center even made the list. I know big men are getting harder and harder to find but not one center in the top 15 players in the country seems odd.

ItsVictorOladipoParticipantGuys that seem to be falling under the radar for all the All-American teams I’ve seen:
Lamar Patterson: 17.6 PPG, 4.8 RPG, 4.6 APG, 52 FG%, 43 3PT%, 78 FT% for 16-1 Pitt
TJ Warren: 22.2 PPG, 7.3 RPG, 1.5 SPG, 51 FG% for 11-6 NC State
Casey Prather: 17 PPG, 5.5 RPG and 62 FG% for #7 Florida

joecheck88ParticipantAndrew Wiggins isn’t dominating!! He’s too passive!!!! He needs more fire!!!! Oh wait he is, in the minds of sporting news a second team AA. I don’t see why his stock is dropping on here. If you tell me it is because Embiid and Parker are just head and shoulders better and more potential then fine but don’t give me that other nonsense of he isn’t fiery. Embiid may have slightly more potential but I also think he has busy potential greater than Wiggins and Parker is great but he guns it from time to time and won’t be the defender Wiggins will be. Idk why he is 3 on here. He’s still my #1 pick.
Think it is a fair list though it has been said that Casey Prather should be on one of those I think.
Aaron Gordon really impresses me. I think he can play the 3 in the league the more I think about it. Corey Brewer has become a good 3 and Gordon can be much better than him. He plays his role really well.

Skeating12345ParticipantIm surprised Rodney Hood didnt atleast make third team. He has been Duke’s most consistent player this year.

TarHeelRavenParticipantJabari Parker was an all-american until ACC play started. Rodney Hood has been Duke’s best and most CONSISTENT player. If not for Hood, Duke would definitely be 1-3 in the ACC. Hood has definitely had an all-american season.

he_gets_bucketsParticipantThank god Nick Johnson is on there, so sick of all the "Aaron Gordon is carrying Zona talk", Nick Johnson is their best player, and he deserves that 1st team spot.

machu46ParticipantYeah, there are some notable guys that haven’t made these teams. Another guy that seems to be having a really good season and is flying under the radar is Shabazz Napier. He’s averaging 16, 6, and 6 for UConn and is shooting 43% from the field and 43% from 3.
But these are just the midseason All-American teams, and it’s just the SportingNews. Plenty of time left in the season for things to change.
