To quote Half Baked…"I seen it!"

I watched him do the vert tests on espn when the broadcasted the combine.  It’s legit…

Why doesn’t he use it in games?

cus he doesnt have the handles to display it

he also put on too much muscle weight which affected his overall explosiveness

To be honest, I’m slowly warming up to Harrison Barnes and hoping my Cavs pick him at #4. People are always saying that he needs a good point guard to be successful.

If that’s the case then Kyrie + Barnes = success no?

I think Kyrie will also help Barnes lighten up a little bit more and not seem like a calculating robot who has a big ego which seems to be something some Cavs fans are a little bit fearful of.

Just to add… I don’t really like Sports Science videos. They’re interesting if you’re going to be a biology or physics major but it doesn’t really give the average viewer a better sense of what’s so special about that player.

They just throw a bunch of numbers at you to make the viewer think that player is some kind of super human.

Just because he doesn’t dunk on people doesn’t mean he doesn’t use it. He has tremendous body control and hangtime when attacking the basket. Does he use it as much as he should? Maybe not. But it’s not like he is a bad shooter.. He got to the line more this year than he did last year and he shot the ball better from 2 and 3.. And he scored more points in the same amount of minutes.

Of course his handles could improve. Look at KD though. He has consistently improved on all of his weaknesses each year. He is bigger, stronger, a better passer and a better defender. I have no doubt that Barnes will improve his handles, vision, and even his defense. Even if he doesn’t vastly improve in the next few years he will at least be a good second option with a solid overall game. Not too bad if you ask me

    Akhan786,

I like Harrison Barnes for the Cavs too. Barnes gives them another scorer/shooter along with Kyrie Irving. Then they have Tristan Thompson as their young big man. Then with their second round pick they can fill in some other holes. Maybe Ezeli or Fab Melo fall. Or Draymond Green who would be a very good inside threat, rebounder, passer, and leader. Will Barton could just be the scoring 2 guard that they need. A perimeter attack of Irving, Barnes, and Barton would be very nice.

If those guys aren’t there then another option could be Quincy Acy, a somewhat undersized power forward but a guy who can defend, board, and is a great athlete with huge hands. He is a good role player to go along with their young core. Miles Plumlee might be a reach but he is big and athletic and a good dunker. Could be another good role player for them at the 4/5 spots. He also played with Kyrie Irving at Duke.
There are some other decent options too, in the second round.

I think he is more of a deep leg bend jumper, where he can really get up but he has to gather himself because of his size.  You typically don’t have that kind of time in games with the ball in your hands.

^^I agree. He’s mostly a 2-foot jumper that has to gather, but he’s not some stiff like some have been saying.
