HOUSTON (AP) — A person with knowledge of the deal says the Houston Rockets have agreed to a one-year deal with Argentine forward Carlos Delfino.

The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the deal had not been officially announced.

The 6-foot-6 Delfino played in the Olympics, where he helped Argentina finish fourth. Delfino averaged 15.3 points in London, where he was a teammate with former Rocket Luis Scola. Delfino also played on Argentina’s gold-medal winning team in Athens in 2004 and the bronze-medal team in Beijing 2008.

A first-round pick by Detroit in 2003, Delfino has played his past three seasons with Milwaukee. He averaged 11.5 points, 4.1 rebounds and 32.5 minutes in 2010-11, his most productive NBA season.

The Houston Chronicle and KRIV-TV first reported the deal.

The Rockets need to start addressing their roster situation. I believe they now have 21 players on their roster with this addition.

They will be using the D-League a ton, I’m guessing.

He’s more of a shooting guard.

Houston is in that crap position where their 12th best player isn’t all that much worse than their best player lol

Why does it feel like the Western Conference has EVERYBODY? The Lakers are loading up, the Rockets have a bunch of guys, the big four in OKC are still there, and the Hornets are adding some good young talent. Minny is also adding some really solid players.

And, that Dwight Trade sends one all-star to the East (Bynum), but the West gets back a super star (Dwight Howard) and an all-star/Olympian (Iggy).

Jeremy Lin is now out West with that young and dangerous Rockets squad.

Several of the top rookies are out West including Anthony Davis, Damian Lillard, Jeremy Lamb, Royce White, and Thomas Robinson.

I think the NBA’s soft cap for number of players on a team is 20. So the Rockets ae going to have to waive a player to make room for the Delfino signing.
