A lot of us, myself included, had stated we felt a lot of these guys were poised for breakout years including All-Star births and MIP canidates. These are some guys that are slow out of the gate.Which ones do you fell will break out of this slump and which ones do you feel didn’t develop as much as you had thought?

    John Wall – 13.8 ppg 4.2rpg 6.5 apg 33% FG shooting
    -rookie numbers – 16.4 ppg 4.6 rpg 8.3 apg 41% FG shooting

Demarcus Cousins-13.7 ppg 9.3 rpg .8 apg 38% FG shooting
    -rookie numbers – 14.1 ppg 8.6 rpg 2.5 apg 43% FG shooting

Wesley Johnson -5.8 ppg 2.2 rpg 1.0 apg 0 FT attemts in 131 minutes
-rookie numbers- 9.0 ppg 3.0 rpg 1.7 apg

    Ed Davis – 5.3 ppg 4.2 rpg .3 bpg
-rookie numbers- 7.7 ppg 7.1 rpg 1 bpg

Eventually, Wall and Davis will breakout of it. Wall is too talented of a player and is a competitor as well. He will eventually get sick of losing. Davis just needs more playing time. He averaged 24 mpg in his rookie season compared to 16 this season. I had hopes for Johnson, but he is too inconsistent. Perhaps it’s due to the fact he is playing out of position, but if Paul George can do it , then there’s not much of an excuse. Cousins will have a bad year overall IMO. His attitude, relationship with Westphaul and constant foul troubles will most definitely hold him back from having a good season.

^^^I agree Wall will eventually get out of this slump and improve(maybe not this season but next),

cousins has a bad attitude but still has potential he needs to grow up,and kings will have a new coach soon who hopefully is strict

Wesley johnson was already know to have the least potential out of all them because he was older, he might improve slighly but doesn’t look like the wolves keep him for the future

Davis- losing playign time because of bargs shifting to pf and killing it right now. He also seems to be struggling but he will imprvoe since hes just getting used to the new system or will used as trade bait and improve with another team.

Cousins obviously has his issues with the coach as well. I think a lot of guys are playing pretty poorly and shooting far below their normal level. Not to mention, Wall’s team is awful, plus Johnson and Davis have to play under new coaches. I think these are guys that actually will get better as they get more reps.

John Wall will probably have to wait for help to become an All-Star, while I do not know why people thought any of these guys beside him would be an MIP candidate. As long as Andrea Bargnani and Amir Johnson are still on the team, Ed Davis will have to wait his turn. I do not think that means he is slumping. He started pretty slowly last season as well.

I think they are all developing pretty much as expected. John Wall’s expectations were bloated, but he is on a team shooting 39% from the field right now. I know he has started off slowly, but I do not think his team full of chuckers is helping matters. My guess is, he will end up pulling up those averages big time in the next few games. Cousins has honestly shown flashes of brilliance, matched by flashes of his usual slight craziness. His attitude is the main thing stopping him, plus this whole trade demand debacle has not helped his minutes.

With Davis and Johnson, I think they are adjusting to a new coach and have new players taking minutes. Both of their minutes have dropped big time from last year. Johnson is playing completely out of position at the 2, definitely do not see that as a long term alternative. Also, while Andrea Bargnani’s rebounding still blows, he is shooting lights out and Amir Johnson (while listed as somehow being lighter than Davis), is a better defender at this time (big thing for Dwayne Casey).

I think they are pretty much just having slightly poor starts, but none of them are way off of where they should be expected. Wall is the only real surprise thus far, but I think he will most definitely pick it up. Remember, Wall did not get drafted to a team that was already on the play-off fringe like Derrick Rose did in 2008. Not saying Wall is as good or better than Derrick Rose (never felt he was, think Derrick is incredibly special), but I do feel like Wall will become one of the better PG’s in the league and possibly a person that leads solid, competitive teams. With the other three, they may be in the coaches dog house right now, but they are young and talented, which bodes well for them as the season goes on.

The Wizards haven’t even won a game yet.  Until they play better, Wall’s numbers will take a hit.

For such a slow start how is Cousins still averaging 14 and 9?

    Wes Johnson is Wes Johnson.

Ed Davis will get it together soon enough.  They need to play him 20 mins or more every game.

For Wes Johnson, 0 FT attempts in that much PT is completely unacceptable.  For a guy with his level of athleticism and his ability to drive, he certianly doesn’t do so very often.  Hell, I’d like to think I could atleast get a FT attempt in 131 minutes of play.  He needs to be more aggressive at getting to the rim as opposed to settling for outside Js.

Cousins just needs to grow up on & off the court. No reason a 7 footer with his length should be shooting 38% I mean look at the talent he has. He is getting 9rpg. I know part of the reason he shoots so low is because he isn’t very athletic but he needs to work harder. He should be over 50% and if he was he would be a 20 10 guy. I just hope his talent doesn’t go to waste.

The reason Cousins is shooting only 38%, IMO, is only around 25% because he takes stupid shots. The main part of his shooting woes was because the offense the Kings were running was to either give him the ball in the high post to feed the guards off of screens (or take a forced shot or drive b/c no one is moving to get open), or to set him as one of the couple "last resort" players and give him the ball with 5 or less seconds on the clock and hope he can put up a quick shot. The rest of his scoring came from offensive rebounding and tip-ins. The Kings have been playing what could be the ugliest basketball I have ever seen the last 6 games. If their new coach decides to stop sticking Cousins 18 feet away from where he plays best and feed him early in the clock along with some good off the ball player movement from their guards you will see that 38% jump up significantly.

Dude, me too, I thought he’d be a double double guy.  I drafted him in one of my fantasy leagues 🙁
