IndianaBasketballParticipantThe Pacers picked him with the 23rd pick.
To be honest, I’m not familiar with him at all. Somebody give me the run down on him and your thoughts on this pick for the Pacers.
Tim Hardaway Jr was still on the board, so I’m a little disappointed.

strobox88ParticipantI don’t know much about him other than he was the biggest reach in the draft.

Sewok15ParticipantHe is a do it all combo forward. He can handle the ball pretty well but isn’t all that athletic. He reminds me of a combination of Boris Diaw and Draymond Green. He was certainly a major reach here but that is what we should have come to expect from the Pacers by now.

festar35ParticipantI was shocked and unhappy with the pick, but I don’t want to doubt the front office just yet. The thing is that our biggest need is a solid back-up PG.
I see that Portland isn’t likely to re-sign Maynor so would like to see us have a go there.
On the flipside the Orlando Magic have a new fan in me, with drafting Oladipo I hope he has an amazing career.

ProudGrandpaParticipantIt’s not a horrible pick, as Hill is a solid all-around player who can come in and contribute right away and take on a bench role easily, but its a ridiculous reach. And when Bullock, Hardaway Jr., and Rice Jr. are still on the board, its a very questionable pick

llperezI watched his while career at zona and he has always been a solid contributor. I never liked him as pro prospect until this past season when try finally moved him go primarily on the wing as a sf and I thought he showed a lot more in terms of ball handling and making athletic moves where I was able to envision him keeping up with NBA sf’s. I think draymond green is a solid comparison. Big tough sf who can do a bit of everything but great at nothing and has a lot of experience for a rookie having played 4 years on a solid program.

fcb206ParticipantHad Solomon hill mocked in the late first. Been watching him grind in the pac-10/12 for what seems like an eternity. He’s a jack-of-all-trades kind of player. He’s physical, deceivingly athletic and is a high IQ guy. Doesn’t really have a standout skill, but he doesn’t do anything bad, either. I figured he had a future in the NBA has a glue rotation player who can guard several positions, hit open shots, crash the glass hard and not turn the ball over. Not surprised at all he went in the first round. Never gonna be a star, but under the new CBA cheap role players who are polished are going to become more valuable than the project players who aren’t going to be productive players until their rookie contracts are up.
Side note: that’s why I’m kind of surprised OKC went with probably the two rawest/upside guys available at both of their picks. Their window is open right now, you’d think they would want a couple guys who can contribute right away. Adams and Goodwin are talented, but they are projects.
