So IF Lebron leaves...What do the Cavs do this summer?
They would have to go after a big name to make up for the loss of the main reason to even go to a Cavs game. What do you think?
if lebron leaves the cavs have zero cap room to do anything. theyll be stuck with Jamison as a number one option
Christian Eyenga! Well, he may not wear 23, even if the NBA does not full out retire it, but he is roughly the same height and weight as Michael. His playing ability on the other hand....
If Lebron leaves, they will have to have some cap space available with his contract off the books No?
I know they can offer him the most money, but they will have to be able to have some free space...can anyone with a better knowledge of salary cap space help me out on this one
They'll have like 14 mil in cap
They can look forward to Harrison Barnes or Perry Jones next year.
Cry, wipe their face, and explode the team. Trade Jamison, Mo, Shaq, Parker, Blah, Blah, Blah. Keep Hickson, Telfair, Gibson and try to get as many draft picks as possible... Explode and let Lebron know that they can move on a live without him..
I agree with The8thDeadlySin. Blow up the team while these players still have value. The SideShow Bob contract was a huge mistake. Jamison and Williams can be move this summer and West can be dangled at the 10' trade deadline. If Lebron leaves the team as presently constructed, they will not contend for anything .Clevaland is a hard sell so the free agency route will at best bring in second tier FA's.
I want them to get as many draft picks as possible. Bring in ever young player possible, build through the draft and be the next Portland or OKC... The Cavs just need to make sure they dont look like a team that is just content with being bad. If they just let him leave, and keep the current roster, they are basically telling the NBA, "We dont want to win right now. We just lost the best player in the NBA so we are going to pout now."
Trade Jamison, Shaq, Mo and those guys to the best team that is in the same conference as LBJ, maybe even the same division. Attempt to prevent LBJ from making the playoffs. Then build a youthful team and hope to build a contender in 3-5 years.
They will have to settle for the much more humble Harrison Barnes
Someone will definately be interested in Jamison and few of their expirings West, Parker, Telfair and Powe.
Unfortantely they'll be stuck with Mo Williams, Varajeo and Daniel Gibson for a few seasons..
Still think these players can be effective if you use their strengths better playing in an uptempo pace, that doesn't mean your D will turn into the Warriors D.
James sign and trade to Miami for Beasley
Lebron will be the last free agent to sign if they lose before they get to the Finals. In the event he does leave after those circumstances, the Cavs will be in a f'd up situation. They would likely have to make trades in season to rebuild.
