"sounded like past your bedtime to me" But who knows?

Edit: Never mind, the word "grandma" is clearly audible.

*sigh* This rumor has already

*sigh* This rumor has already been debunked...by EVERYONE that was at the game.

The Crazies only chanted "Past your bedtime" to Tyler Lewis and "Bilbo Baggins".

Some NC State fan (at least I think he's a State fan) started the rumor on twitter and it spread like wildfire.

If you ask everyone who was at the game and all the writers on press row it was most definitely "past your bedtime" if you find a shot of the white board one of the Crazies was holding it also says "past you bedtime.

This is Duke we're talking

This is Duke we're talking about, not Maryland. Duke is more creative and nerdy than cruel. They weren't chanting about his grandma.

No, but I don't need to be

No, but I don't need to be there to hear their chants. They're more clever than mean-spirited.

Confirmations from both sides...

No one really knows for sure. Some at the game said it was "How's your grandma?" Others said it was "Past your bedtime."

My guess is that a few took it too far with the grandma chant while the rest didn't. Some don't want to be lumped in with the others and rightfully so.

We all know how language and trash talk can be taken too far sometimes. It seems funny at the time but later you realize how stupid it was.

The pass that Coach K is

The pass that Coach K is given for berating the refs unlike any other coach in basketball, the fact that a huge part of his defensive philosophy is to flop and try to deceive the referee on bogus charges, and the fact that Duke fans are the most disrespectful fans in college basketball screams of racism to me. They media love Duke because it's a team historically full of white guys from a prestigious school that excel in sports.

Corey Maggette, under oath testified that he took money from an agent while he was at Duke. The NCAA, AFTER his admission in a court of law, said that there wasn't enough evidence to determine whether or not he accepted money. This is NEVER talked about when people bring up coaches who have had past indiscretions. Duke is a school that's done things the right way, you know, like Penn State. Same thing with UNC. An elite institution and the media shower the teams with adulation because, hey, they go to a good school, they must be smart....except they made up classes so their players could pass classes. Jalen Rose was spot on the truth, these schools do have black players, but they're black players who have a countenance and demeanor consistent with white culture. Any team who has player's with corn rows, tattoos or sweatbands for God's sake are automatically looked down on, and they're 'thugs'.

Kyle Singler's admissions into Duke somehow popped up online a couple years ago, like Julius Peppers' did. He had a 23 on the ACT. I got a 23 on the ACT with I was in seventh grade, national average is 21. Sports at Duke and UNC in particular are given an undeserved media advantage because of the auspice of being model citizens. Total bull&$#%#&@!. There's no difference between top flight athletes at any schools, but you're lead to believe that they have more class or they're more intelligent. Don't drink the Kool-Aid

Can't say that I agree with

Can't say that I agree with you samosas.

While Coach K does berate the refs more than most and is allowed to get away with it, I don't like how you are bringing racism into this particular conversation, when in fact, the chant was towards a white guy.

The Maggette thing I'll give you. There is something fishy with that situation but let's not bring race into a subject when this whole story of what they chanted is clearly not about race.

Do you think the media would

Do you think the media would gloss over, and even encourage to some degree, this type of fan experience if the fans doing the chanting were, say, Cincinnati fans?

If it was in fact something

If it was in fact something about a grandma it woulda been a small section of the crowd. I think Duke students have better things to do than to check the livelihood of opponents grandparents so they have stuff to chant.

Yeah I doubt almost none of

Yeah I doubt almost none of them even knew about Lewis's grandma.

All of the credible sources (ie reporters on press row) said it didn't happen. It started with a tweet and the guy who tweeted it went on to clarify it was only a couple knuckleheads to his right.

If it was an audible chant, Coach K would've ripped their heads off. He's been on record two times off the top of my head of warning the Crazies not to go too far before a game against an opponent that has some kind personal thing going on.

But since its Duke, it spreads like wild fire because Duke haters have nothing better to do with their life.

Drunken college kids maybe

Drunken college kids maybe saying some innapropriate things? Ask Steve Kerr about that, or any player who's ever played on the road at one of those rural psychotic college towns. But I forgot. Rich white kids go to/play for Duke. So they are terrible people and way worse than of those SEC football redneck fans or any of the big 10 worshippers. Who cares. I'm sure they weren't chanting the grandma thing. If they were? Worse has been said at a college game before, I guarantee that.

And as pointed out above, if it really was a small group of people chanting that, how is that indicative of Duke, or its fan base. Theres a few morons in every fan base.
