Lotto StudParticipant"I may have to re-think my Ohio State pick since the RINGLESS King James chose them"-Skip Bayless
"What does LeBron not winning a ring have anything to do with his pick. There are people all around the world who have never played the game making picks."-Jalen Rose
With that being said, that added more fuel to why I f*ckin hate Bayless with passion. Bayless hates on "specifically" black athletes.

Moon RiverParticipantThis guy lasted about a year writing for the Sun-Times here in Chicago. He is a blow hard just trying to garner attention to himself. His ego is beyond bloated. Yet, he keeps getting jobs. His point is meaningless and piling on LeBron is a low blow, even for him.

apb540ParticipantI don’t know a ton about his history but I don’t think Skip Bayless hates black athletes. He just REALLY hates LeBron. And always has.

dmo21ParticipantWhat’s even worse then his statement? People making it about race when it wasn’t….

magmo68Participant…i dont really pay too much attention to him…he is just ESPN’s "Queer Eye For The Straight Guy". In this politically correct society they have to have one…

SteroidParticipantI’ve heard worse statements on here. He’s a wacky dude for sure… Just because he’s on TV doesn’t mean he can’t be opinionated no matter how off-base his opinion is. It just gives people like us and whomever something to talk about.

HitsterParticipantIt says the following about Skip on Wikipedia so what Apb540 says has quite a lot of truth in it
"Bayless is well-known amongst American sports fans as a sports commentator who takes unpopular, contrarian positions and becomes engaged in heated on-air debates with his African-American opponents. He, along with Woody Paige and Jay Crawford, appeared in a cameo role in the film Rocky Balboa. The three were seen on their First and 10 segment discussing a possible fight between a retired Balboa and current heavyweight champion Mason Dixon. Bayless opined that Balboa, "was completely overrated," and mocked his age."
I hadn’t heard of the guy so I googled his name out of interest, there are always pundits who speak out in any sport, we had them here too in the UK but sadly they have been weeded out recently.
The only one really remaining is a Cricket pundit called Geoff Boycott, he’s about 70 years old and a typically straight talking Yorkshire man with a huge ego. Geoff was one of the greatest cricket batsmen ever and so he feels that no-one else is as good as he was!

The lake show2What evidence shows he hates Black athletes?..One thing i respect about him is he doesnt care who you are if he doesn’t like you or think you are as good as others think he will let it be known. He doesn’t bandwagon jump nor does he hold his tough. He’s just opinionated. He’s far from the only tv talking head that does this, Barkley does it all the time

Ghost01ParticipantLet me just say this…he definitely knows more than Jalen Rose. I cant believe this guy has a brain after his stupid Duke rants.
A black man claiming that black people bring wealthy or smart makes them "less black" is sooooooo 10 years ago. Jalen is a fool.
But back to the point, Skip is smart, and alot of his opinions are good and matter, but this is just him poking one at LBJ.

BasterdInABasketParticipantI turned on first and ten for about 2 minutes this morning and I caught skip bayless saying how much durant has impressed him this year. One of the reasons was how well he played in the all star game and he should have been mvp. No love for Lebron’s triple double in the ASG I guess? I just dismiss everything he has to say since liek you guys said hes just an egomaniac. Honestly just watch the guy when hes on the show… All he does is yell, pound the desk and rock back and forth in his chair and state his idiotic opinions.
0 - Posted on: Wed, 03/16/2011 - 8:32am #510399
BasterdInABasketParticipantJalen isnt the best at what he does but hes a better analyst than some of the guys on tv but I dont think Jalen has those opinions still about ‘uncle toms’ and wutever else he said. That was almost 20 years ago when that all happened. They used to call OSU the F**keyes too which was when they were kids.
0 - Posted on: Wed, 03/16/2011 - 8:45am #510405
Ghost01ParticipantBasterd. Jalen would not even take back his comments about uncle Tom. He argued some ridiculous thing about Duke "recruiting a certain type of player" and comparing them to how "The U and UNLV recruited the bad boys" (as if being marred with sanctions for years to come is the equivalent to Duke having standards for its basketball recruits) and completely dismissed the argument that it just wasnt true. And as far as being an analyst goes, whose worse? The guy brings absolutely nothing to the table, usually just picks the home team because they are at home, and was a fool of an NBA player to begin with.

HitsterParticipantLots of top players took a long time to win their first ring, Le Bron is now in his 8th NBA season:-
MJ won his first title in his 7th season
Shaq won his first in his 8th season
Hakeem had to wait until around his 10th season
Look how long KG had to wait, AI never won a title in his NBA career etc
I’m sure that Skip is an entertaining guy and no doubt knows his stuff and probably lives off his noteriety
0 - Posted on: Wed, 03/16/2011 - 9:04am #510411
SteroidParticipantJalen’s reasoning behind the uncle tom was that the black players who went to duke were fine with the fact that they were okay with what duke stood for, which was only recruiting black players who had prestigious backgrounds or were from wealthy families. Back then, that was a stab in the back to Jalen and other players in their position because they felt like these black players who went to duke were okay with that, hence the uncle tom thing.
0 - Posted on: Wed, 03/16/2011 - 9:06am #510412
Ghost01ParticipantSteroid, i totally understand that, but the problem is he is making those black players out to be something they are not. Just because they were fortunate doesnt mean they arent black. And urban kids have gone to Duke. Even only a hand full have, this shows that if the talent and need is there, Coach K will recruit them.
The stab in the back should be that the fab 5 went 0-3 vs Duke. And Duke has 4 titles to Michigans 0 in the past 20 years.
Obviously, whatever Duke does, it works. ANd i would love to see him call kobe or LBJ and uncle tom, two black stars who love coach K’s coaching.

OhCanada-ParticipantIf Bayless hates black athletes then he is really in the wrong profession. I doubt that is true at all.

OhCanada-ParticipantBayless thinks he was mushed?

Michael.S.ParticipantLet’s just pu it this way-he shouldn’t be on national tv- he is a complete dodo bird.

BKKnicksfanParticipantLet’s just pu it this way-he shouldn’t be on national tv- he is a complete dodo bird.
Based on what?
Also, I see alot of yeah, he hates the black athelte, but I only see LBJ’s name.

OhCanada-ParticipantBayless makes at least one stupid comment every week Knicksfan. I dont even watch ESPN and I know this, Ilive in Canada and I know this. Remember the race discussion he sparked with Blake Griffin. That was pretty dumb too.

The lake show2Jalen stated something that many other black athletes felt at the time about Duke. Not saying if it was right or not but many and i mean many thought the same thing although they didnt say it publicly. I remember my brother and his teammates brough it up when i was a lil kid, how Duke only recruited Black players with good up bringings and wouldnt go after the ones from broken homes or from the Hood. And most people from the hood looked down on Black kids from the middle or upper class with two parents. Rose even said it wasn’t right but thats what he though when he made those comments.

Michael.S.ParticipantOh, thats knicksboy? Yeah, he always quesions everything I say even if it is completely true and debateless..
0 - Posted on: Thu, 03/17/2011 - 7:00am #510657
HitsterParticipantIf some black kids are from middle class backgrounds then good for them, being from a more privileged background could if anything make you look down on the hood guys and not vice versa. How many people who have come from poorer backgrounds and made their money now look down or distance themselves from their origins I’d like to know.
In the UK there is still a very class driven society in places where if you haven’t had money for generations you can still be looked down on, no matter how rich you become.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 03/17/2011 - 8:12am #510684
The lake show2i can understand why people who made it out the hood wanna distance there self. Theres no glory in being from the hood. Theres no benifit. Every one in the hood is tryna get out of it unlike middle in upper class, you dont see everyone in those classes wanting to go to the hood

SteroidParticipantI think Chris summed it up well… The blacks in america do have an identity crisis of what it means to be black, and that stigma still haunts our culture and gives us a bad rep. The media player isn’t working: http://www.sportsgrid.com/ncaa-basketball/chris-broussard-grant-hill-jalen-rose/ What is ironic about the situation is the Fab 5 thought they were misunderstood, and the world misjudged them and called them gangsters, hoodlums, etc, but they are basically doing that when they’re judging guys like Grant Hill.

HitsterParticipantIt’s also funny when people who aren’t "ghetto" try to claim they are, Jenny from the Block still amuses me!
