Sixers in talks with Denver about a Carmelo for Iguodala trade according to Western Exec
If I was the Nuggs I'd try to get some young talent back, which Iggy is but theres also Holiday and Turner that they should be interested in.
I think if the sixers were to pull this off they'd have to include one of the following players along with Iggy: Thad Young, Mo Speights, Turner, Holiday or Lou Williams. I don't think the sixers want to include Holiday or Turner but would any other combination be enough for Denver? I hope the sixers find a way to make this happen.
I was thinking maybe an iggy, thad, and some picks for melo. And if that goes through, the nuggets look to trade jr, so the can have billups/iggy/thad/kmart/nene lineup, which isnt that bad and could get a late palyoff spot. This way the nuggets wouldnt have to restart everything.
I don't want Iguodala to go to the Nuggets if Carmelo doesn't play alongside him. He might as well stay with the 76ers, because a team with Iguodala as it's premier player isn't more than a team that gets knocked out in the 1st round of the playoffs.
In the west with Iggy as their best player I don't think they make the playoffs at all.
heres a thought...it probably wont happen but what if Sixers just gave up Holiday, Young, Speights, and Turner or a combination similar and some how kept Melo and AI...any thoughts on how that team would be? Like i said it wont happen but it would be interesting to see if they would even be any better. i dont think the two of them would play well together but thats just my opinion

That would be terrible. That's like selling a 360, PS3, Projector and a HDTV for a 3D TV. Is it really worth it for Philly to toss the future for Melo?
Also, Melo doesn't wanna go to Philadelphia per reports.
Yeah dude you're nuts thinking the Sixers would give up Holiday, Young, Turner and Speights for Melo. First off Holiday is untouchable, and is most likely the only untouchable on the team including Turner. And JNixon is right there is no point in getting Melo if we don't keep Iggy too.
The best trade for the Nuggets and for the Sixers too me would be trading Turner, Young, and Kapono for Melo. The Nuggets arent going to get any talent back better then Turner and Young. And they immediatley have their future set on the perimeter with Lawson, Turner, and Young.
And I would do it for the Sixers because Holiday, Iggy, Melo, Brand, Hawes with Speights, and Lou Williams off the bench is good enough to compete with every team in the East not named, Miami, Boston, Chicago, or Orlando. If they could swing another deal for a defensive big man it makes them even more dangerous. And if they would of kept Dalembert the team would be set.
Melo said hr won't go to sixers
Wow guys...i just said it clearly wouldnt happen. i was asking if you all thought that a team with Melo and Iggy would be any good. please read the post before u give me negative points. i clearly said it wouldnt happen and i clearly said i didnt think it would work IF that were to happen. i hate idiots
It's a huge market...their baseball team may win another title this fall and their basketball and sports fans period are the best in the world...they are close enough to Maryland and New York to feel home...And they have young pieces to compete now and down the line...Iggy, Thad and Kapono for Melo would not gut that team with Nocioni a tough veteran backup on the roster ....Denver would get two stud wings to add with JR Smith and Balkman...Billups will net them a player or two on the inside to fill the voids left by Martin and Nene( but Nene could resign) Martin I see leaving along with Billups...Then The Nuggets core would become Lawson,Iggy,Thad,JR,Balkman,Birdman and Nene(possibly)...that and the cap room saved by shedding Billups,Martin and Melo can put them on the right course...a pick this year or down the road could be added by the Sixers to IMO and not hurt them... Philly is good place for a Star like Melo to play...close enough to the big city without being burned by the bright lights...Washington is another place I'd look at if I was Melo...Wall,Arenas,Blatche,McGee,Yi and Young would be a nice core to join to...The Bulls and Nets and Knicks have been getting the main attention with The Magic and Rockets and Lakers and Blazers all in there tooo...but Philly and washington would be two teams I wouldn't count out...break it down like this...Is iggy and Thad better than Kirilenko and Favors???wouldn't both draft picks the Nets trade the Nuggets be mid 1st anyway...The Sixers can trade the same amount of picks and Iggy and Thad are better than AK and the unproven Favors IMO
The Sixers lineup would look like this
Melo and his peoples should have kept their mouths shut until the end of the season. Now he putting himself in a worse situation to be traded to a weak team.
The Sixers are waaaaay better than the Raptors (and they blow)... we also have all the pieces to be a top 4 team in the East a hell of alot sooner than the Nets, Knicks and could even be better than the Bulls would be with Melo. Think about the game of basketball, what it takes to win and how you need a team to be built to compete every night. The Sixers would have all of that and a bright future because their entire starting 5 excluding Elton Brand are all young and have years to grow. And I will break it down once again... we have a young point guard with great size, elite perimeter defense and scoring potential through the roof. Our 2 guard is the second over all pick in the draft and was the best wing player in that class. He has the room to become a top ten shooting guard. We have a young power forward in Marresse Speights that would thrive off the bench around a guy like Carmelo, and he'll push for the starting spot soon. We also have a young 7 ft center with good offensive potential and a high skill set. Plus we have big men like Elton Brand, Tony Battie and Andreas Nocioni to bring the toughness and veteran leadership you need to compete in the play offs. Yes we would still need one more elite big man, but with that core we'd easily be a top 4 team in the East and a legit top 10 team in the entire league. We'd reignite the Celtics/Sixers rivalry, one that is as storied as the Lakers/Celtics rivalry, which would be another move that is over all good for the entire league. Then almost every major market would have a viable contender. New York with Amare and possibly Chris Paul, Miami and Boston with their respective big threes, Chicage with the Rose-Boozer-Noah trio. Orlando and LA of course, then last but not least Philadelphia with Carmelo and their young core. I'd be all on board for an Andre Iguodala, Jason Kapono and draft pick for Carmelo Anthony. I might even throw Thad Young in there. It's a win win for both teams especialy if they get Thad Young! Oh yeah and their TEN times BETTER than the Craptors.
I think they should send DEN Iggy, Thad, Speights & a future 1st for Melo & Afflalo.
Who disagrees that The Nuggets would be able to get a better 2 player package then Turner and Thad Young for Melo? Ef the third pick in Favors, you get the 2 pick in Turner who is a better fit with George Karl, Thad Young Who if given the proper minutes at small forward could average 20 points eventually. And like I said they have a great future with Ty Lawson, Evan Turner, and Thad Young. I would do it if I were Denver
As far as Melo he never said he wouln't play for Philly but he did give a list of preferred teams and the Sixers weren't one of the four teams. But he does want to play in a Large Market and Philadelphia is the 5th largest media market in the world. He can get just as many endorsements here as he's gonna get in Chicago. And Philly is a better sports town right now then Jersey.
The Phillies just made it to 2 straight world series and are on their way to their third.
The Flyers were in the Stanley Cup last year and project as one of the top 3 teams again in the East in hockey.
And The Eagles are first in the division again after the resurgence of Michael Vick and early MVP candidate.
Everybody knows Philly is a great sports now and our players get more then enough attention in the national media. Who isn't tired of hearing about Vick already. And Roy Halladay is about win another CY Young. And Ryan Howard is a household name.
Now the question of who would you rather play for the Nets or the Sixers? The Sixers with their long storied history of rich basketball and legendary players. Or the Nets and their Billionaire owner who besides Lopez has really nothing else to offer. Prediction Holiday is a better POINT GUARD then Harris this year.
Plus Melo has never played with a wing like Iggy who can play lockdown defense of the opposing teams best player and is also a great passer who will make the game easier for Melo. The Bulls don't think he's even worth Noah if Im Melo i find that disrespectful and don't even wanna play for them anymore/
Iggy and Thad can Go for Melo...Brackins and draft pick make it even better...Losing Speights makes it a lost for the Sixers because thay need his size and potential scoring ability...Brackins would become Brands back up...Noci would split time there too...Speights lenght would help in the playoffs againgt Howard and Bosh...even though he's no match at this point he's better than Brackins or Nocioni...also I'd trade them two 1st rounders but both would be after this years draft which I'd feel is fair...they get Iggy,Thad and Brackins to help rebuild with and two 1st rounders in 2012 and 2013...2011 is the yr they should draft a defensive Big ...with a mid to late first rounder I'd hope 1 is available...If not Ty Chandler for the MLE next year sounds like a good back up plan to me.....
Holiday/Turner/Melo/Brand and Speights at the PF/Hawes and Chandler at the C next year would be as good a line up in the East ...and with all the pieces their very young minus Brand,Noci and Battie on the bench, they would be good for a number of years...of Course getting a guy like Chandler to man the paint is up in the air and so is getting Melo but if we are talking about teams with pieces to compete the Sixers have all the tools...they are one great starting Center away from being a playoff team and playoff nightmare...if they get Melo or Not a bad year from the Sixers can get them a top 5 pick...possibly Harrison Barnes or Perry Jones...Enes Kanter or any stellar scorer should be a possibilty too... I really want to get Perry Jones though...he may be the next big thing...
And it makes sense money wise...Iggy and Thad or Evan and Thad for Melo...Iggy at the 2 or Turner growing at the 2 next to Melo...The Nuggets cant a better better deal then Iggy or Turner and Thad plus a pick for Melo...they'd get two great young players and starters...plus a pick a pick that could be any where from 14 to 26...The question is can Holiday and Iggy work with Melo better than Turner and Holiday or do you keep Iggy and his contract and let him be Melo's sidekick and lock down defender...But if we trade Turner which I would do for Melo...Turner,Thad,Brackins,Kapono(for Money reasons) and a Pick for Melo and JR would be well worth it if Melo and JR come to stay...Philly is a top market and the fans here are die hard sports nuts...Melo would become the face of the City ala Allen Iverson and this media market would hail him as the new Dr. J...him and Iggy can defend Wade and Lebron as well as any one in the league IMO...Allen and Pierce or Iggy and Melo ???...Iggy's coming off a gold medal victory and Melo is one of the best if not the best offensive threat in the game...Holiday and Iggy can become a lock down back court with Iggy having no worries about carrying the scoring load everry night...he can play his game and do it all and stuff the stat sheets...They'd be one move away from being a top 5 team without pause ( and we all have seen what having 1 superstar can do for your trade prospects and FA moves )
