Sixers - one more thing
This will be my last 76er post for awhile so I don't beat it to death - BUT - I can honestly say as a fan since 1980 - this is the 1st time heading into a draft that I am completely comfortable that they are in the right hands and won't screw it up. Having lived through Harold Katz, Billy King, Stefanski, Doug Collins etc etc calling the shots - this is the 1st time I feel with Hinkie and Brett Brown - that we are in good hands, will make smart deals and come out looking good.
I have lost the fear of a big screw up which has marred the franchise for some 30 years
Good luck Philly !!!!!!!!
Cant really go wrong in this draft. I suppose if Embiid never gets over his back thing they could say it was wrong but all options are easy. If they take Wiggins, i think it will be the worst of the top 3 for this team because i think that Parker has the look of a number 1 option and Wiggins does not. And at 10, they need to take the BPA because other than MCW, this team needs players at every position.
More holes than a hunk of swiss cheese. When James Anderson and Hollis Thompson are starting - you have holes. Starters needed at 2 & 3. Depth everywhere. Will Thad be dealt ?? Dunno - but I trust the guys at the top overseeing the project
i think there is no way they can mess it up. i mean they get the last of the big 3 prospects out of default. nobody will ever blame them if they end up with embiid, wiggins or parker. and i don't think they can mess up 10 either unless they take saric and he pulls a fran vasquez...
2 If's here:
* IF Parker and Wiggins are both gone by #3
* IF Joel Embiid's back does NOT check out ok
Based on his impressive showing at the Draft Combine, the Sixers should take Dante Exum with the 3rd pick, because everything about his game is eerily similar to Penny Hardaway's.
I know in a previous post someone mentioned trading down. In my opinion the Sixers clearly have what it takes to control this draft, two top 10 picks, 5 second rounders, and a solid trade piece in Thad Young. That being said, I am content with Wiggins or Parker with the third overall pick. Either one will set us up nicely at the SF position for years to come along side of Noel and MCW.
To my point though what do you think about using our 10th selection, Thad Young's value, and our 2 of our 2nd Rounders to jump somewhere in the 5-7 range where now instead of talking about drafting Gary Harris we are discussing possibly plugging a guy like Randle or Vonleh into our starting PF position for the next 10 years? And to me they both would complement Noel well.
Then there is the aftermath of losing Thad and only have 2-3 second round picks instead of 5? Who cares.
Potential Starting Line Up
SG- Free Agent or one of our 2nd rd picks (Possibly Hairston, Markel/J. Brown, Nick Johnson, Jordan Adams, Cj Wilcox)
