It’s pretty obvious the sixers are breaking down the roster and planning to rebuild – which occurs through a) draft picks and b) free agency. 

However, I’m curious however how these recent trade rumors would help that plan unless they get back a flurry of picks?  IMO, swapping a Thad, Spence, or ET for either Asik or Waiters wouldn’t make much of a difference.

The team currently could have 5 picks – which if you can collect a few more 2nd round picks even – they might be able to start packaging the picks to trade up and get better quality players.

"They’re going to be gone at the end of the year so we minds well get something for them now" (yes, picks!)
