As we all know by now, Philly likes Dunn a lot and I don’t think people would be surprised if they pulled a trade with Boston to get him. I love him as a player and think he’ll be a great one, but would Philly be better off playing this year out (probably still trading one of their bigs, but for a shooter preferably) and grabbing any one of Dennis Smith Jr., De’Aaron Fox, Markelle Fultz, or Lonzo Ball next year? All of them have loads of potential and are top 10 projected, so Philly would have options.

Thoughts? I think they should just wait it out til next year unless they just really think they need Kris Dunn, but I don’t think they’d be losing by making a move for him either

In my opinion, waiting for the right asset to come next season is too much Hinkie’s approach, so there is no chance they will do that.

Getting up to 5 rookies next year would already be enough Hinkieish decisions…

6ers are trying to compete as fast as possible, so they are probably considering next year they won’t choose top 5.

Also, a lot of high school seniors that project as top-three picks end up playing horrible as freshmen and wind up coming back to school for their sophomore years, or just entering the draft and sliding down 20 spots or so. Smith, Ball, Fox might not pan out, or two of them might end up going before Philly’s pick, etc., there are just too many unknowns to build a plan around. And Fultz is more of a scorer than a PG.

He wants to build a Top 3 Defense and needs a PG that can guard the position, Dunn can defend and give his man hell on the break…

I see shades of D Wade in Dunn, Brent Brown must see something special too…

I would prefer to see them trade for Jamal Murray because he would be a great compliment to Simmons with his spot up shooting. Murray could play PG although he would struggle defensively (like most PGs in the league because guarding these guys 1 on 1 is almost impossible) with Simmons handling the ball the majority of the time.

Then next season assuming you could draft one of those top 6 PG’s projected to go in the lottery and move Murray over to SG which appears to be his more natural position. If you get lucky and land the top pick again you draft Jackson and keep Murray at PG. I like Kris Dunn and apparently the Sixers love his defense and athleticism but I think at least a few of those younger guys have higher ceilings. I know it isn’t a great idea to draft this year based on next years draft but I feel that Murray and Dunn are on a similar level.

Murray is clearly more versatile on offense being able to play either guard spot and Dunn is the much better defender. If they can somehow land the #3 pick and Avery Bradley for Okafor then Bradley can guard the opposing PGs.

Maybe I am wrong and Dunn has star potential like D Wade but I prefer the scoring and outside shooting of Murray especially playing with Ben Simmons.

Boston looking at Noel for 3rd pick. I like Dunn but not heaps keen on Noel, he is too thin and injury concerns. Philly would win that if they got Dunn

    ——report——

The Celtics are reportedly want Nerlens Noel in exchange for the No. 3 overall pick in the upcoming draft.
The 76ers are reportedly “pushing hard” to trade with the Celtics for the No. 3 overall pick so that they can draft Kris Dunn, and with Philly already expected to bring in Ben Simmons with the No. 1 overall selection, they may be more willing to part ways with Noel. Noel would be a great fit with the Celtics, and Dunn would finally provide the 76ers with a solid point guard, so it wouldn’t be surprising to see something like this go down on draft night.

Honestly I don’t see why Boston would pick Noel over Jahlil even if he is cheaper. The only reason would be that Noel is shipped somewhere like Cleveland for Kevin Love. Jahlil can be an all star caliber center, not Noel honestly. His defense issues exist but he is too young for that to be impossible to overcome. Also, the Celtics want to win and Jahlil was the star player of a winning team in NCAA, he has everything they want.

If they truly can have him without giving up any of their core players they should do it no doubt. The opportunity won’t come up next year when Embiid is injured again and the 6ers will decide to build around a 20&10 center, while Boston recruited an underwhelming #3 pick …

I really like Dunn but neither Dunn nor Simmons can stretch the floor.Ideally Bostons throws in James young in this deal. He could bring some spacing they desperately need to compliment Dunn and Simmons as play makers.
