maybe in 2011, but not likely. He’s just not that good. His jump shot is spotty, and he’s not a great passer. He’s long and athletic, but there are plenty of those guys who also have skill.

Yea he’s the engine that makes Georgia Tech go…They are so much better with him in their lineup….He could be a nice scorer in the NBA, and he has legit combo guard skills…I like him as a top 20 pick in 2011

I dont see him as a lottery pick next year and definately not this year. He’s a good athlete with good size but he’s got alot of weaknesses. As biggy said his jumpshot is suspect (only shooting .387 from the field and .317 from deep). The other problem is his pg skills. He’s 6’5″ so if he were to play the 2 at the nba it would negate his biggest advantage, size. As a pg he has problems hanging onto the ball, and only a 1.33 assist/turnover ratio, pretty bad for a pg on a top 25 team

in this upcoming draft, not many. but that has alot to do with the fact that this is a really weak pg crop. As for a few with comparable or more upside i’d say Eric Bledsoe, Tyshawn Taylor, Malcolm Lee maybe terrico white and elliot williams

i know williams isnt a point guard but he plays combo guard for memphis and spends more time with the ball in his hands than any other player on that team. Lee is soft and is playing bad this season but it doesnt change the fact that he’s got great athleticism and upside. white plays the 2 guard for ole miss because chris warren needs the ball in his hands to score and tyshawn taylor might i might have been a little off with. but he was one of the best players on the USA team this summer and he’ll be alot better in everyone’s eyes when they see him running the point, after sherron collins leaves

He isn’t tripping. He’s telling you some other good Point Guards. Bledsoe, White, Taylor all are better PG prospects, maybe some other Point guards in the next year that will be freshmen next year and will be 1 and dones.

I think your also missing the fact that there are also other positions in the draft…Wings, Posts, whatever you want to call them. So while he may be a top 5 PG prospect next year, he’s not a top 5 overall prospect. There are alot of players better then him, and offer alot more value, that play different positions than PG.

Thats not to say he won’t be a decent player, but he won’t be a lottery pick. unless he develops his game ALOT.

Yea, I like shumpert, but lets not jump the gun here. He still is a little loose with his ball handling, and some of his decision making is flat out horrible for a lead guard. He’s definitely a talent, but whats really the rush with this kid, he still has two years of eligibility after this year, so lets enjoy him at tech. He could go down as one of their better guard in their school history since it seems like he might be around for more than 1 or 2 yrs.

You don’t know me, so how can you say you know more then I’d ever know? Unless you do know me which would be really weird.
I’m not riding “MA JOCK” or anybodies jock for that matter. I’m just giving my opinion that Shumpert isn’t as good as you think he is. I’m not saying he’s garbage, because he’s one of Tech’s best players. And if they are going to make a deep run in March, he’s gonna have to play well. which he is capable of. But that doesn’t change the fact that he’s not a lottery pick in the NBA draft. He’s just not that talented, and there are other players who are better and have more potential and who will go higher.

calm down sir, theres no need for CAPS LOCK…i’m not blind. I can see perfectly fine what you are writing. As I’m sure everyone else who goes on this sight can too.
