The 76ers didnt make any moves at the Trade Deadline and have remained a quiet Playoff Contender throughout the season, they’re currently the 8th seed in the playoffs d have Embiid and Simmons playing well, Dario has also been a solid scorer for them and could be the most under rated 76er thus far…

Just giving them a shout out because no one seems to think they’ll make it to The Post Season since they didnt add any new players at the Deadline…

Im a die hard fan so I believe they’ll make it and scare the hell outta the Celtics in a 7 game series

Dario is so underrated. His all-around game is amazing for a PF. And now he’s added a 3-point shot, nearly 40% on high volume, I think he’ll be a borderline all-star next year.

We can run the offense through him on the block and he’s a good catch and shoot PF, he’s always hustling for rebounds and plays with a chip on his shoulder

He can also dribble drive and pass the ball, what he doesnt do great is defend but at least he tries hard on D, every player has their limitations

Dario can be the 3rd or Fourth option on a winning 76ers team, and Im sure he’d be a 20 and 10 guy on his own team…We love having him in Philly and see Him as a core member of our roster

As a sixers fan, it’s been a blast watching these guys this season. Though inconsistent at times, their development has outweighed this concern which they should be able to deal with once they develop a better chemistry in the coming years. You got the alpha-dogs in Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons who has a chance to be the next Kareem-Magic duo. And Saric, who is highly underrated, capable of taking the James Worthy/Jamal Wilkes role. Covington, as good as he is defensively, is their Michael Cooper. If Markelle Fultz can get his jumper back, he will be part of the core as well. Good times for the Sixers.

Considering the Sixers have nothing to show from the top pick of the draft (Fultz) I guess fans should be happy. But imagine if erything worked out for Fultz and the Sixers like most top picks do, they might really be a problem.

As a Boston fan I am obviously happy that we eneded up with Tatum (plus pick coming) but damn I do actually feel bad for Fultz and am looking forward to the day he actually gets past his problems (if he does) and contributes like expected.

Its nice to see the 76ers winning some games and becoming a threat. Expectations are high and fans want to see more but after those very disturbing years 30 wins should seem like a blessing to 76ers faithful. Bright future ahead as well.

Only need to go 11-16 to finish .500. There were an awful large number of people on this site answering the under/over .500 question saying they’d definitely go under. Imagine next year.. everyone a year better for the experience including a probable playoff appearance, potentially Fultz is back at his originally projected level, Embiid is playing back to backs, they have another couple of 1sts plus they sign some free agents. Thats a tough group. They be in the ECF within 3 years, and not just making up the numbers either.

Just imagine you guys having Fultz next year. I don’t really like the 6ers mostly after Simmons complaining about not being an all star, but I can’t deny that you guys are gonna be one heck of a team next year. Embiid is a monster on both offense and defense and Simmons is gonna grow into something special. Dario and Fultz are gonna be your role players even though they could be stars on other teams. There’s some other teams dying to get stuck into their own "process". Glad to see it finally paying off for the 6ers.

Just imagine had Philly did better scouting last year. They probably would’ve drafted Donavan Mitchell.

      Mitchell

      Simmons

      Saric

      Embiid

That’s scary for the next 5+ years.

nobody would take Mitchell over Fultz, no matter how much research you do, based on last year.

Mitchell turned into obviously a great fit in Philly…but please cut out the nonsense or blame Philly’s scouting department.  You can blame 11 other scouting departments too.

All you need to say is "just imagine philly getting Mitchell".  Its really dumb to say "imagine if Philly’s scouting department did a better job".  Man…thats jsut stupid.

to land Lebron James, or Tim Duncan, or fall into 2 and draft Durant, or fall into 3 and draft Joel Embiid, or have the foresight to draft Curry etc.

The process doesn’t work you can easily be Pheonix or Orlando.  Even Minnesota if it hadn’t been able to trade for Butler woudln’t be a playoff team this year with Towns and Wiggins, two #1 picks.

Philly is in a great situation with 2 unicorns.  Ben Simmons is being underrated now as a rookie.  So he doesn’t score in late game situations, but he will make a steal or a pass that gets you a win.  His turnovers in midseason have been striking, but at the same time his defense has improved.  He’s so overlooked.  He wasn’t given all-star status because Philly hasn’t been to the playoffs and Embiid is starting, he’s also a rookie.  They rewarded other playoff team guys like Dragic, and then Kemba Walker, knowing that Ben Simmons will be an all-star pretty much the rest of his career and Dragic may nbever have a chance . But look at Ben’s overall play and he is a much much better player than Dragic.  Rookie of year talk Mitchell looks really good, but Mitchell also came into an already solid team, he just had to fill in Gordon Heyward’s role.  Ben Simmons has helped make a playoff team, and a team that can hang with any good team due to its size, out of a team that was set to pick top 5 in last year’s draft.  Ben Simmons does a lot more for his team.  Ben makes everyone around him better and he’s done it all year.  Simmons is the ROY.

Lastly Colangelo got lucky with Bellinelli deciding to come to Philly.  He couldve gone to OKC who really needed him.  How good would Clarkson or Hood look on Philly right now.  Interestingly Philly and San ANtonio have the same problem in that they have guards that can’t create for themselves.  Donovan Mitchell is taylor-made for that.  Malachi Richardson would also have helped but he went to a guard-heavy Toronto.

Philly is now the most critical team.  We needed a Butler-type trade, which would have been easier had we drafted well for Noel and Okafor but both of those trades flopped.  You could easily have turned Noel/Okafor into something like a Butler.  Philly fans can’t rely on us signing Lebron or Paul George and even Klay.  Althoguh I do find it interesting that Klay always sits away from Durant/Draymond.  Klay always keeps to himself but balls out when needed.  Philly has to make really smart moves.  It needs help at almost every position if not starter than backup.  Let’s see how Colangelo shakes out.

As a philly fan I find myself looking less at draft table (I want Mikal Bridges and Lonnie Walker with our picks.  I am very curious about Free Agency.  Danny Green has a player option someone has to pay him more than 10 million dollars a year.  You already spent on Covington.  I like the idea of trading Covington and perhaps Fultz for Kawhi. but we need to see Fultz play first.  I also like Kyle OQuinn in the backup center role.

    Anyway if anyone’s still reading….

How od you see Philly addressing their needs…

    1.  Backup center.  Someone younger than Amir Johnson who can block shots and give you some buckets.  A steven Adams type guy would be ideal.  Holmes isn’t smart enough.

    2. defensive backup stretch 4.  Booker doesn’t stretch the floor.  Ilyasova might be a nice target.  A guy that can play in the system.

    3.  tough backup swingman (covington is a good defensive player but we need a solid tough veteran backup 3 and d.  Chandler from Denver or Joe Ingles.

    4.  scoring guard – someone to penetrate and do some iso scoring.  Not sure who’s out there.  This is why I want to draft Bridges or Lonnie Walker.  And hope Fultz returns.

    5.  defensive guard scoring.  Danny Green.  George Hill would’ve been great.

Slickbouncepass –  I think having a bench of Steven Adams, Ilyasova, Joe Ingles, a lotto pick and George Hill would solve just about every team’s problems! That’s not a realistic expectation. Maybe something like McConnell, Fultz, Saric, Bellinelli and Jonah Bolden is good enough. McConnell has played well, Saric and Fultz are both still potentially future all stars. If the Sixers have those guys marked as the 2nd unit, with their picks and cap space this year they need to find two legit role players to go with Ben, Joel and Covington. They just need time after that.

Their cap situation.  Obviously I didnt mean Steven Adams I meant a Steven Adams type player.  And offensive rebounder that can get you some points.  Amir Johnson is serviceable like two years ago but he doesn’t look for his shot at all, and plays like the tin man after he gets a rebound.  He literally has no spring to his game.  He was a decent offensive player.

Thats my problem with Colangelo.  I really want to add role players that can actually play.  Jerryd Bayless was signed not only to be a professional, but also to contribute.  He looks really old and washed up.  He used to be a reliable shooter but he’s undersized and defense is shaky…

So we need role players to add to our youth.  But not just leaders, guys that can actually ball.  They have to be willing to take somewhat of a discount to play on a real team, with overseas ball mentality (Spurs and Warriors), share the ball, take good shots, don’t go 1 on 1.  To play with Embiid and Simmons and chase a ring you have to be willing to take a discount.

If Reddick is going to resign it will be at a discount.  I personally would rather have more defensive oriented guards.  If I can get Danny Green at 16 million a year for 3 years I take Danny Green over Reddick at 20 per.

What I did is identify their needs, the next step is for me to make reasonable offers understanding the NBA cap situation, what Philly owes its homegrown talent in the future, and who can help this team.

Ilyasova may want to come back to a good situation he had here.  In fact I think Colangelo dropped the ball.  The guy signed for 6 million, and he can help this team more than Trevor Booker, but Booker is on an expiring contract.

I think it’ll be easier when the top tier free agents make their decisions next year.  Philly will unlikely get Lebron or George…its tough to hold out for Klay.  You have to be preapred for everything.

The job isn’t easy for Colangelo.  Regardless I think Mikal Bridges and Lonnie Walker are the 2 players to target.  Maybe Dzanan Musa as a pure scorer.

Offensive rebounding and putback center, backup stretch 4, tough 3 to backup or replace covington, and guards guards guards.

Didn’t think they’d win 30 all year. They’ve got a solid young core (with or without Fultz) and a bright future. Things are looking up in Philly.

I blamed Hinkie for passing on Giannis twice. They were the only team to do that.  But I think I like how things ended up so I guess what I’m saying is GO SIXERS!

I think the majority of people viewed Philly as a low seed playoff team before the season started. I do that prediction thread every year before the season and Philly averaged to be the 8th seed in the east. So I’d say they are meeting the expectations that people had for them.

Boston and Dallas amongst others passed on Giannis. Philly are only 3 wins out of 4th seeding and making the play offs only two years after a 10-72 season would be a great achievement.

Philly will likely get a lottery pick via Lakers this year they can use to add a young player or trade for a quality proven guy. They have sent Sac-Town pick to Boston next year ( number 1 protected) but if they can get Fultz fixed and playing that might pan out well for them.

They will have cap space this summer to go for a experienced FA or two and can take a short term guy or two like they did with Reddick and Amir this year.

This year their own pick could well be top 20 so if Lakers one is 10 to 12 say, they could well look to package the picks to see how high they can move up. With two decent picks they could easily trade one and draft with one to get some young talent and experience in, they still have a lot of options.

I can see them picking someone off in the first round — the Celtics look vulnerable.  The Raps look good, but who knows… get ’em down early and then strangle ’em with the Simmons-Embiid Show.

Basically, anyone but the Cavs — a team who was basically dead in the water less than two weeks ago, but now look like a team who can run off a 3peat.

I said earlier that they remind me of the SECOND Bulls 3peat, but other than this being a potential 2nd title run in Cleveland for LeBron and basically a new roster (other than JR, TT, and Love), this team, I think reminds me a bit more of that ’91-’93 triple threat title teams.   Lots of young athletes, plenty of length.  Athleticism.  Not a GIANT team but a team with size from every position.  Rebounding.  Sneaky depth of 3 point shooters.  Pretty much everybody (but TT) can hit a jumper…

If Tristan Thompson can embrace a Dennis Rodman-esque role, focusing on getting 15-20 boards a night, with a few garbage buckets/dunks, along with some all-around stout defense/toughness/pick setting then they look like the favorites.  Then bring Kevin Love off the bench as a premier rebounder, scorer, perimeter shooter, and good passer.  He can be this generation’s Jerry Lucas.

Philly: can make a "run" this year if they get the right matchup in the first round.  Then take the semis to 6 games.

I think they need to think 5 years down the road.  Cavs-Rockets-Warriors look set up for the next 3 years at least.  Then, if they can dodge super teams in LA (doubt Lakers get LeBron, but they could STILL end up with Anthony Davis and Klay Thompson, which would be even BETTER), and to a lesser extent, a semi-super team in Boston, they look set up for a great run in the near future.

I saw bits and pieces of McConnell.  Looked like a combination of Scott Skiles and Matthew Dellavadova aka the Dirty Dova.  Maybe they move Simmons to the 3, utilize him like Giannis aka turn him into the Philly Freak, still have Embiid as the go-to guy/alpha leader, and maximize Dario Saric.

Saric looks like a solid third guy.  Great for them.  At worst, probably a fourth guy.

Grow organically.  Don’t rush this thing.  Make Simmons get a jumper, if not a 3 pointer, then at least a mid-range thing.  See what you have with Fultz.  Don’t be afraid to move him for upgrades at your 4th and 5th options.

If they are going for BOTH upside AND fit, then a combo of Mikal Bridges to be their extra power, athletic 2-way wing, and Jaren Jackson, Jr. as their IDEAL secondary big with Embiid, IF you can move Saric to the 3 with Simmons/Bridges in the backcourt.  If not, JJ Jr. looks like an IDEAL third big man.

Now, if you can get BOTH Trae Young AND another really good player (or at least a guy with upside like Jackson, Jr., Carter, Jr., the Bridges, and Kevin Knox or Robert Williams) then you do that too.  But, don’t chase Trae Young.

Now, if they have a shot at Bamba I would seriously consider taking him — especially if I still have my own pick (could still get a solid role player type in the 15-18 range).  Embiid/Bamba has a TON of potential as a twin towers duo.  Or, just go with a 3 big man rotation (Embiid, Saric, Bamba).  If they also get Mikal Bridges then you have the potential for a MASSIVE lineup: Ben Simmons at point, Bridges at the 2, Saric at the 3, with Embiid and Bamba inside.

I think I use Fultz to move up a few picks, then get an extra second rounder, some cash, and a solid mid-bench guy on a good contract.

Also for Philly: hang in there.  Keep winning.  I wouldn’t doubt them being the 4th best team in the East behind Cleveland, Toronto, and Boston.

They should probably check the waiver wire.  Buyout week left a lot of good guys out there… I think one or two could really help them.  A veteran 3rd string point guard would help.  An extra big man inside.

problem if you are a Sixers fan.

Very sharp young local Sixers beat reporter Derek Bodner wrote a piece yesterday that Markelle Fultz had changed his shot BEFORE the Draft & speculation is that this led directly to the shoulder injury.

several sources were from teams that worked out Fultz before the Draft

Once again you are in a situation where you must question Bryan Colangelo’s judgement & then when you consider the guy is flat out hiding for the 2nd year in row to avoid questions about a high profile player’s injury.

And that forces you to look at Colangelo’s entire career & you must ask yourself is Bryan Colangelo the poster boy for American Suburban Privilege in the NBA b/c I don’t believe Anyone has Failed uUP the ladder more than Colangelo

And that forces you to look at Colangelo’s entire career & you must ask yourself is Bryan Colangelo the poster boy for American Suburban Privilege in the NBA b/c I don’t believe Anyone has Failed uUP the ladder more than Colangelo
