It’s probably the best moment for that. Marc is playing great, but still Grizzlies are loosing their step in play-off race. With Parsons terrible contract they don’t have cap space or other trade assets to strenghten their roster in next few years. Even if they can get to play-off, they would be out after first round. So after another Conley’s injury, I think it’s time to break up this team and go heavy tanking and full rebuilding.

Marc has great trade value and his contract is till 2020. Almost every team in the league would like to have him, but two most realistic trade partners for Grizzlies are Cavs and Bucks.

Cavs can offer them Nets pick, Cedi Osman or Ante Zizic and Tristan Thompson and Iman Shumpert (salary wise). Having two picks in top 8 in such a nice draft is good start of rebuilding.

Bucks can offer them Jabari Parker and John Henson. I doubt Parker could realize his full potential playing beside Giannis. In Memphis he could be first option. The concern is his condition after second major injury.

It’s not necesarry to explain how much Marc would upgrade Cavs or Bucks teams.

After that Grizzlies should trade Tyreke Evans and try to acquire another young asset

Fiz just got fired, Gasol ain’t going anywhere. Teams a bit of a mess, three huge contracts, all on declining players. Little young talent either. Owe a pick next year. Hard to see any route to getting past the first round within the next five years.

By the way, I was at the game last night. Figures.

Ok, if we traded Marc I would want that Nets pick the Cavs own, or one of the Celtics’ other picks that they swindled for another team.

Or, assets from the Lakers including a pick even though I think their 2018 pick is going elsewhere.

Marc Gasol would be a PERFECT fit in LA with the Lakers.  I would take a pick and Brook Lopez.

Don’t see the Cavs trading that Nets pick, but WHAT IF we traded Gasol AND former OSU product Mike Conley?

Those two players plus a Grizzlies 2018 second rounder (do we even have one?) plus some cash and the rights to Vince Hunter (one of our 2 way guys), to Cleveland for the Nets pick along with Tristan Thompson, Channing Frye, Shump, Isaiah Thomas and Ante Zizic.

Yeah, it would be a lot for the Cavs to give up, BUT, a core of LeBron, Love, Conley, and Marc Gasol would be a really good core, then the Cavs still have JR Smith, Kyle Korver, and Jae Crowder in support roles, as well as Derrick Rose — if he comes back.

I kinda like the idea of the Sixers going with a twin towers lineup (or at least with that possibility).

With a versatile big like Embiid who can go out and shoot it a bit, you add Gasol as another big man who can hit a jumper and has 3 point range.  He can also score in the high post, and is an ELITE passer for a big man.

So, Gasol and Jarell Martin (big, if limited, athletic power forward), along with a furture 2nd round pick, cash, and the rights to 2-way forward Vince Hunter go to Philly for Okafor, Bayless, Justin Anderson, Nik Stuaskas, and a top 15 protected first round pick.

Sixers now have a really good 3rd option behind EMBIIDSIMMONS and still hold onto Reddick, Covington, McConnell, Fultz, and even Richaun Holmes.

Sixers probably have the best big men core in the league with Embiid, Marc Gasol, Richaun Holmes, Dario Saric, and Jarell Martin (who has actually started some games at power forward for the Grizzlies).

And, once Fultz gets healthy, the Sixers are loaded on the perimeter, too, with Simmons, Covington, Reddick, Fultz, and McConnell.  Those are five high-level perimeter guys right there.

Philly can run a 10 man rotation.  They lose a first rounder but still have one, which could be pretty, pretty good.

Philly gets a high-level (if not an All Star — this season) center for fringe pieces and a potentially mediocre pick.

Then I am trading Mike Conley and Andrew Harrison (utility guard who is a decent ball handler and defender) plus 2 future second rounders to the Cavs for Shump, Frye, Isaiah Thomas, and the Nets first round pick.

On the one hand, the Cavs don’t want to trade that pick.  On the other hand, they need some help at point guard.

If I am Cleveland I get the Grizzlies to tweak that picks deal.  So, Grizzlies send two future second rounders and their own pick (top five protected) which would be at 12 right now, for the Nets pick (right now it would be at 6), and I might make that top 2 protected, and the Cavs own pick (which would be at 24 right now).

That’s a fair trade for all teams involved.  Sixers are rising, Cavs are contenders, and the Grizzlies reload with some extra picks.

Yeah I think they keep Gasol and Conley for the life of their deals and try and get lucky  finding contributors – low price vets and draft picks. They get one good lottery pick and they can probably get back to the middle of the pack.

Well they obviously have to wait for a team to sign the youngest Gasol brother. Then trade Marc for him plus a bunch of fillers. It worked once, why can’t it work again?

Marc Gasol turns 33 early next year so is reaching veteran stage, he has the rest of this year and another full year guaranteed on his deal. But his player option for 2019-20 could well be taken up as he’d be going into 35 then and may not get more money than what his option is. If he could be persuaded to opt in then his trade value would be even higher.

Cleveland would seem obvious suitor with Nets pick and a mix and match from Thompson, Thomas, Frye, Shumpert etc.

Bucks have given up next year’s pick for Bledsoe so it would be 2020 before they could send a first rounder and Memphis would likely want one or both of Parker and Maker.

Boston still have a number of future picks and the Hayward exception so Morris, Baynes, exception and picks could be basis for a deal.

Portland still have a weighty exception from Crabbe trade and could send some of the younger players they drafted this year but Gasol would push them back into luxury tax.

My wildcard would be Washington if they decided to go all in – Gortat, other shorter deal guys and two first rounders?

Griz should blow it up and go full rebuild. Unless they are content with being a first round exit for the next couple years, this team isnt close to contending for a championship any time soon

Gasol to Portland would be interesting. Would Blazers go all-in on trying to join the runners-up crowd right now (Spurs, Rockets, maybe Thunder) and trade Nurkic, Harkless and Davis for Gasol? They’d have three legit all-star contenders and still a decent supporting cast (Turner, Aminu, Vonleh, Leonard, Swanigan, Napier, Connaughton).

Portland would need to move some salary back and whilst they might love to keep Nurkic, any extension for him is likely to be weightly and Memphis may well demand him in return. The trade exception would be attractive to Memphis as they could take back less salary and thus have cap space to take on salary dumps for future assets.
