Former Duke forward, Jabari Parker has recently announced that he would be declaring for the NBA draft after just one year in the college ranks. The prospect is expected to be among the first players taken and any team would love to have him.
Every team that is, apart from perhaps the New York Knicks who he casually insulted during a recent interview on the Dan Patrick show.
When asked by Patrick which NBA player Parker closest resembled, the forward replied that many people had compared him to Knicks All-Star, Carmelo Anthony.
“But you pass” exclaimed Patrick, referring to Anthony’s tendency to be more of a scorer than facilitator. “But I have a team.” replied Parker.
“Oh, so Melo doesn’t have a team?” questioned Patrick, “no I don’t really think so” was the reply from Parker.
The Knicks are very unlikely to have the option of selecting Parker in the draft with a number of lottery teams expected to have the pick ahead of them.
Other teams may be pleased to see the young player be so honest about the state of the league’s teams but it seems a little unnecessary to hit out at the Knicks in such a way.
Parker also dubbed NBA commissioner’s plan to make college players stay at school for two years ‘ridiculous’. Certainly a fiery interview from the young star.
It will now be interesting to see if Parker’s comments affect his draft stock later this summer.

  Dude I attached the link. I did not write the story nor did I say his stock will be effected. I’m just highlighting the fact that he was gutsy enough to converse with Patrick in such a manner. No differently than the BS everyone was feeding into with LeBron staring down MJ fueling nothing. I’m just acknowledging the fact that Parker is not afraid to speak his mind.

Parker is more like Paul Pierce than Melo.
I always liked Parker because I think he comes from the Larry Brown school of "playing the right way".

so he’s saying melo plays selfish? i dont think parker’s statement isnt anything we havent heard before..but melo plays better when his teammates plays better..last year when chandler was 1st team all defense,jr smith won 6th man,there were savvy veteran leaders like jason kidd-rasheed wallace, the knicks won..
despite the flack he gets, this was the 1st time in his career he’s missed the playoffs…his teammates sucked this year…
he should look into leaving ny and think about going to chi-town or h-town to play with other stars….

Why is this news, If me or anyone on this site says that the Knicks suck and Melo is the only bright spot we agree. But if Jabari Parker says it he is taking shots at someone I don’t get it.
