The "Shoe" Issue
Last night, during the Knicks-Heat game 2, there was a situation in which Dwyane Wade threw Mike Bibby's shoe that came off out of bounds in order to keep him from getting on D in the next play. This is not the first time this happened. Ron Artest did it to Trevor Ariza a couple of seasons back. Do you think this act is that of smart basketball IQ or poor sportsmaship and why?
Very poor sportsmanship. It could even be a borderline technical foul. What it does is temporarily take that player out of the game, it's almost the same as tripping someone because they won't be coming back up the court very quickly.
There's a difference in these two you posted, Rons was just him being a douche. Wades was more like a taunt, especially the way he back peddles and stares him down after he threw it.
Plays like that should be punished. If they fine a player for throwing his arms into the air after a call they don't like, and are fined for technicals. Plays like that should be fined or recieve a technical. That was a dick move, and was Wade being a douche. I think that is a poor show, i would rather see players geting physical (like Dirk and the entire OKC team) than going out of your way to throw a guys shoe out of bounds. Weak
Wade was making the court a safer environment so nobody would trip over the shoe, I don't even like Wade but nothing wrong with that.
Plus according to my numbers Mike Bibby is so bad that you are better playing 4 on 5 than with him.
What if Lebron had a Joe Theisman leg injury because he stepped on the shoe? I mean like I said Bibby is a coomplete non factor plays like an Ethiopian girl so Wade was actually hurting his own team by throwing the shoe instead of getting back on defense.
dede21- the guy whose shoe it was, was the only other guy standing there. Nobody was in jeopardy of stepping on it. The moment Bibby brought the ball up, the official would have removed it. In some cases your argument has validity but in the above scenario Wade clearly did that to be a jerk.
If this was the NHL, Wade woulda gotten a beat down for that move.
I can't stand D-Wade.
If it were a blowout in a regular season game against the bobcats it woulda been ok. But in the playoffs in such a high intensity game..thats ridiculous. Im glad they scored anyway. Its immature and just like dwade was mocking dirk last year, this shows he got alotta growing up to do.
Just look at my name, seeing something like that &$#%#&@! me off.
Yall can hate on that man all you want. That &$#%#&@! was funny, no matter how you look at it. The world is too cynical these days.
It's funny because if it was Derrick Rose or Kevin Durant doing this, everybody would be raving on how smart they are and how high their basketball IQ is.
Nah, I don't care who does it, it's immature.
honestly, im sure there are some a-hole intentions from these players when they do this, but reality is that i just cant see any justification to penalize guys for tossing the shoes. I mean its not like they are tossing them into the crowd. A shoe on the court is extremely dangerous and if they toss it off, so be it.
Poor sportsmanship but i find it absolutely hilarious. Serves them right for not keeping their shoes on tight enough.
it's good sportsmanship if anything. The shoe being on the court is an injury risk for any that steps on it. Just having it sit there on the court any could step on it and hurt themselves.
There is nothing wrong with throwing it the sideline.
