Shaq upset with ESPN Host Jim Rome and Challenges him to a REAL FIGHT
Rome is such a douche. And it would be okay and even funny if he was a good sports show host AND a douche, but he is only the latter. I hope The Big Leprechaun gets a response from Rome that isn't his usual cynical comment he attempts to mask with meaningless facts.
Jim Rome is a gaylord.
Most people on this site can't take criticism. Most people in the world can not take criticism. So why is it not a surprise that athletes who can't. A lot of people that say that can take criticism are people who smile and then talk behind someone's back. Sometimes you want to know critical things about yourself but that is only when you ask. How many people really like people volunteering criticism especially if there is some inaccuracies involved. Shaq could be smaller but I don't think every off season he has not been in shape. Sometimes it was obvious though he was not but not all the time. Also very few player in the NBA have kept themselves in the same shape Kobe has had. You have to be a fanatic almost to compete with him that area.
its got to be hard for a sports talk show host is supposed to tell it like it is. He is not some espn anchor who just trys to make everything sound all good. He gets ratings by being controversial and speaking his mind. What he said is the truth, shaq has never been committed to staying in great shape and he often used the regualr season to get into shape. No way a guy as dominant as him should have only 1 mvp award, he just didnt push himself and that was one of the biggest beefs between him and kobe.
WHat is rome suppsed to do, actually fight a 330 pound athelte?
Well Rome is a self-proclaimed "hard-edged" talk show host... And I'm pretty sure that there is some rule, similar to The Golden Rule, and it states, "Don't talk shit to a 330lb Hall of Famer unless you are willing to get your ass beat." Errr, something like that.
And yeah, I just saw Rome's response to Shaq and.. Umm... Rome is still a giant gaylord.
Shaq was in pretty good shape when he was on phoenix. He was working out hard when he was doing Shaq versus. Some of the stuff he had to do most people would not want to do. That training was something crucial. I like to take shots at Shaq too because he says so foul stuff and has done a lot of dirt but every season he was not in terrible shape which makes Rome's statement false. Also if you going to make a controversial statement then get ready to get your rear end handle to you. That being said weapons are used to be equalizer because everyone can not be Shaq's size. I know I would have protection if I talked noise about players that were just blessed to be bigger than me. It is different if they are my size and just work harder to be stronger but people that were born that big can't act like they did it themselves. Shaq will have to take some criticism but it also needs to be accurate and not coming from that tool Rome.
I don't dislike him worse than I dislike Woody Page though. Skip Bayless is on the fence because I do agree with him for time to time but sometimes he is a tool.
Rome said
Shaq never had the focus like Kobe- 100% true
He's not professional- true.
Rome points out the fact he's average at this point- TRUE
Rome is laughing at the fact he's getting the Vet Minimum while being called the MDE- Funny and True.
Shaq has made a lot of threats over the years. (Bill Walton comes to mind.) Shaq, imho, is nothing more than a common thug and I don't like him as a person.
And every interview I've seen with him sucks. It's like he writes out what he's going to say ahead of time and delivers it like a bad actor.
On his ABC Show ''Shaq Versus'' ..Shaq played tennis against Serena, Boxed Oscar Dela Hoya, participated in a Home Run Derby against Albert Pujols..
Now he wants to challenge ESPN Host Jim Rome..Shaq doese can do a better job hosting then Rome..Shaq wants to fight him in a ring outside of the ESPN Studios...Shaq is upset after Rome made several statements saying, 'O'Neal was never a professional ,never took good care of his body..Like Kobe did..Rome said Shaq was never dedicated like Kobe and often reported to training camp overweight..
This isn't the 1st time Rome has ticked off an athlete..Who can forget former NFL quarterback Jim Everett turning a table on Rome..After the Host keep calling him ''Chris Everett? lol
Shaq was quoted as saying,'''This won't be like those Sissy Celeb Boxing Matches ...Where they just Shadow Box and be laughing..'I'm actually going to kick his ASS''!!!
