Shaq to Cavs
I don't understand why Phoenix would do that deal. The story says they want to dump salary, but last I checked, Shaq was in the last year of his contract just like Ben Wallace. If they make that trade, then they don't save any money, and Big Ben is definitely not as good as Shaq and won't bring as many fans.
The trade is supposed to be in the works and I hope it happens. I would really help Cleveland out a lot. It is only a good move for Phoenix if they can save some cap space.
I think it would be a good move if Cleveland gives the right players to Phoenix. I think Shaq and Lebron could work out good Shaq is not what he used to be but he can still get you 15 points and 7-8 rebounds. So yeah it's ok trade.
would be a good deal for the cavs i think...
they don´t think it´s a risk because the only thing that could happen would be shaq playing bad in CLE instead of big ben doing so. but i think if he stays healty there is a good chance for him bringing numbers like the ones in phoenix last year...
i don´t really get the phoenix side of the deal but it can´t be anything else than saving money because Big Ben certainly won´t be an upgrade for them!
I think they should trade Ben Wallace for Shaq cause he is a better big man Cleveland will become a better team and Varejao will come off bench if they had made the trade in the deadline they would of finish 70-12 and sweep the magics and they would of finish L.A. In Six
the only reason the suns would do it would be to let amare do his thing again without shaq. if suns get wallace and pavlovic they get better defensively. they have scoring in amare, nash, richardson and barbosa. starting lineup could be nash, j rich, pavlovic, amare, and big ben. that is a good lineup on offense and a better defensive lineup. then you have barbosa, barnes, and grant hill coming off the bench. add the number 14 pick and this team is deep. so who in the draft would fit with this team? a pg for future or another bigman
This is not new news. Cavs need womeone to stop Howard if they plan to get out of the East. Shaq has that ability. It's Lebron's team. If Shaq can deal with that completely, he can help. He is playing very well at this stage of his career. As far as Pheonix goes, they would blow up the team from here. They need to get more than just cap space to make this type of deal. They need players who will help the team. Remember when the Bulls had all that cap space for McGrady and Hill? They overestimated the importance of cap space and settled for Ron Mercer. Any team can pay more to retain their own oplayers, so they will not lure James, Bosh or Wade. for some reason, they also don't even seem interested in Stoudemire. I don't understand Suns thinking.
Noel....your crazy were talking about 37 year old Shaq
who cannot play back-to-backs
can run the Pick and Roll and cannot defend it
I think they could be a good team, but LBJ will need another Wing man next to him
Also, Verejo wants 10 mil so he might leave Cleveland (he is a unrestricted FA)
Another problem is that Shaq parks his butt under the basket all the time and that will give Lebron trouble driving to the basket. It was the same problem they have with Amare. Amare used to come of a Nash pick and roll, take it to the rim and score or get fouled or both. This worked like 90% of the time. The Suns made the same mistake getting Shaq just to beat San Antonio and it didnt work cause they changed their system. The Cavs would be making the same mistake. Believe it or not they are better with Big Z
Good Point Pittbulls! I still am having problems understanding why Suns would do this deal. Cap space is simply not enough reason. They would have to get young player or draft picks that would improve them in the future.
Shaq is used goods. He had a solid 2008 year, but the Suns didn't even make the playoffs.
Shaq is also not the best guy to have in the locker room with his big ego. I don't see this working out with Lebron.
I think it would be a somewhat helpful deal.
Shaq's obviously a stronger presence than Z on the inside, and he wouldn't be too bad offensively if he continues his success from late last season. He would be at the very least a slight upgrade to Big Ben. Next season is Shaq's last year on contract, so cap issue won't be too much of an issue next summer.
I guess the only problems would be if LeBron has trouble with Shaq getting in the way, and Shaq's age getting in the way of playing time :/ And this still doesn't solve their size/defense problems at the wing positions...
