UNCbasketballbumParticipant9-13 from three in the first 2 games in Oklahome City. He could really be the difference maker for the Heat to win the title if he contines to shoot the way he has been. I’ve really been impressed with Battier’s play and poise. Great pick-up for the Heat this offseason.

JoeWolf1Miami needs production from their role players to beat elite NBA teams. He’s been huge this series, even in the loss.

Memphis MadnessParticipantShane has been that fourth guy that they needed. His bank-in 3 last night with the shot clock winding down was HUGE.
The Heat signed him to hit shots and to defend guys like Kevin Durant. Supposedly OKC was in the running to get him too, but Miami offered him 3 years and OKC wouldn’t. That may come back to haunt the Thunder. The Thunder would be really good now with Shane Battier coming in off the bench to play the 3 and 4, hitting corner 3’s, defending LeBron, and at times D Wade and Bosh, and rebounding and drawing charges. The Thunder would then have two ace perimeter defenders in Battier and Sefolosha. I think the Grizzlies were effective in last year’s playoffs because they had both Battier and Tony Allen playing great defense. Even though, outside of that big 3 in game 1 against the Spurs, Battier struggled to shoot the ball, his smarts, leadership, defense, rebounding and ability to also play the power forward spot really helped the Grizzlies. I think we missed him this year.
If Battier stays hot then look for Miami to win 2 back at home. Or possibly all three. If Miami goes back to OKC up 3-2 then I like the Heat’s chances. Battier and LeBron can guard 3 or 4 positions on the floor. They can shut down the perimeter, and offer weakside help inside. I think Battier’s personality helps too. He is intense but more laid back. He is all business, but he doesn’t let his emotions get the best of him. A good counter to Wade and LeBron. Battier (and Bosh too) offer good contrasting emotional make-ups.
Wow, who would have thought that Shane Battier would be in the early running for Finals MVP. Besides LeBron, Durant, and and maybe Westbrook, no one has played better.

Memphis MadnessParticipantBattier is an ideal role player especially when he is draining his 3’s.
I thought Bosh played great too. 16 and 15 with 2 blocks. He really outplayed Ibaka. I think that the power forward matchup is the important matchup in the series. The four superstars are going to show up, but Bosh and Ibaka are the wildcards.

GoJOSH HUESTISParticipantdamn his bank 3 in the fouth. People may not say it but that was a big key to them winning the game. i honestly think they lose if that doesn’t go in
