MalcolmxParticipant“Ron Holmes, the father of one-and-done UCLA star Shabazz Muhammad, was indicted Thursday on federal bank fraud and conspiracy charges, according to the Las Vegas Review Journal.”
All of this crazy stuff with Shabazz probably has a lot to do with his upbringing and not really him as an individual. The person he has looked up to is a cut throat type of dude. I’m starting to feel sorry for Shabazz and I’m pulling for him.

Raef LaFrentzParticipantThis will undoubtedly raise another “red flag” for NBA teams when it come to his “character.” Is that fair? Heck no. But that’s the way things seem to work. I’m also kind of feeling sorry for his situation when it comes down to stuff like this hurting his draft stock.

Velvet HoopParticipantI’m with X though, I’m pulling for Shabazz.
His projection arc has kinda reminded me of Drummond last year. Once everyone was on his jock, now everyone wants to nitpick his game. That’s the difference between high school and college, where potential ends and production starts mattering. The college game is so different from the wide open NBA game, and it is no coincidence that it favors the stronger, more athletic, aggressive guys that are also willing to work. Bazz, by all accounts, is a worker and it looks like he wants to be great. To me, he is one of the few players in this draft that I’m not worried about how his skills will translate. He will find a way to get it done. And if he slips in the draft, someone is getting a hell of a deal.

MalcolmxParticipantI don’t like judging anyone’s parents because at the end of the day he did raise him and provided for him(by any means) but damn man. It’s like every time we look up there is something being put out there to make Shabazz look even worse.

JoeWolf1It shouldn’t effect his stock, “stage Dads” are everywhere and although teams don’t like their players parents making headlines or speaking out against the organization, I don’t think it’s a major red flag. Sounds like a guy who doesn’t have a lot going for him, who was trying to live the high life by fruad and cash in on his son’s success before he’s making millions…Kinda feel bad for Bazz too, this is not what he needs right now.

The Scare Crow RisesParticipantEvan Turner is on the block and we’d love to replace him at Sg/Sf with Shabazz
I think he’ll be a solid scorer and his defense will get better. He reminds me of Lance Stephenson in Indiana a little bit, and I think the Sixers are a great fit for him

NYBALLASParticipantEver since I read that article about his dad where he talked a out breeding children like race horses and pretty much pimping out his children to any sport they were good at and going as far as choosing the most marketable names for his children so its easier publicity I have fucking hated his dad. His dad is very very very simialar to the dad of Tod Marinovich from the 30/30. He was THE top highschool qb in the country Peyton before Peyton and his dad from birth groomed him for an NFL starting job. What happened? Hmmm crystal meth, heroin, lack of desire once reached the pro stage and bottomed out. I’m not sayin that’s the future for shabazz I’m trying more to say that Shabazz dad represents everything that’s complely wrong with top prospects in any sport in a sports world that draws so much interest from middle school onward. Theres def a lot of good sports parents out there but his dad is the epitome of what’s wrong with our sports culture and how parents with huge egos live through their children

SpacegrassParticipantI don’t think it will affect his draft stock. He isn’t the first athlete with a parent or family member who got in trouble seriously with the law.

CAROLINA BLUE NICKParticipantYea it’s crazy. Here is the article if anybody cares to read. According to the article, his pops has been in trouble with the law before. I’m not God so i’m not judging. Like X said, he did his best (well what he felt was his best) to raise his kids and his family. We don’t know the ins and outs of why he made the decisions he did. It’s just sad to see how Shabazz is getting the attention more so than his father but that’s the media for you.

qDizzle32ParticipantIn Shabazz’s short time of being nationally exposed, there’s already been so many controversies involved with his Dad, Ron Holmes. The whole investigation involving benefits which caused Shabazz to miss the first few games of this past season. The story about his age being false which Holmes later on admitted that he lied himself and now the bank fraud charges. Mr. Holmes, your just killing it for your son so please stop now. Well I’m not bashing him for this part but isn’t that just a little awkward how he wanted his kids to have his wife’s last name (Muhammad) instead of his so they could have “household” names?

OaktownWarriorsParticipantIn 1999, he pleaded guilty to using fraudulent bank statements in order to obtain mortgages. The plea agreement noted that Holmes paid a restitution fee of approximately $78,000 to banks and credit unions that he committed the crimes against.
In an interview with the Los Angeles Times, Holmes admitted he lied about Shabazz’s age, claiming he was 19 when he was indeed 20.
That sounds like a crazy family too me?

ALIZYParticipantFathers are usually exclusive, that they tickle people and help to make people giggle, that they defend and care for people, chalk talk and instruct people. On the other hand Fathers Day is a good time and energy to point out “I love you Father” and present them that you simply remember and regards.I love my father| father day facebook status
