What do you guys think? Both are #1 in their classes (Bazz is 2012, and Parker is 2013) and both are small forwards, or maybe tall SG’s. Parker is 6’8" and 220, while Muhammad is 6’7" and 215. By the way, it’s a little hard to judge Parker off the video on the internet right now becasue he got a ton better over the summer (bigger, stronger, more athletic, and overall just better). The video links below is the best one I could find of Parker and of course the Muhammad video. The Muhammad one is made by BallisLife, which is arguably the best mixtape site. The Parker one is kind of recent but not made by either BallisLife or Hoopmixtape. Muhammad only goes left and remember he is more than ONE YEAR OLDER. Which one has a higher ceiling? Which ones better? Which will be the biggest star?

    Bazz= http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UhuLTyaA4cg

I think Jabari Parker has a higher ceiling and will be the better pro.

Jabari has better skill-set (ball handling and jumpshot), add the fact that he’s one class younger than Shabazz. I like Jabari slightly better.

This site says Shabazz is a 6’5" SG not a 6’7" SF, but anyway I like Jabari over Shabazz but really I like both a lot and would be excited to have either one on the Jazz.

Shabazz. Parker is being wayyyy too hyped to early. Shabazz also apparently has a killer instinct.

Shabazz was receiving similar hype last year as a junior, Jabari’s hype is warrant, you can just see how smooth and natural a talent he is. I love his combination of length and skills, already 6’8 as a junior. Could easily grow 2-3 more inches. He will be a nightmare to defend once he gets in the NBA.

Good topic. Consensus top wings in their respective classes. Both guys that you want to see succeed because by all accounts they have great work ethics and high character.

Muhammad is the raw, relentless attacking wing. He really gets after it on every play. His game isn’t pretty but he’s incredibly productive every night out. I also think he will eventually be a standout defensive player at the highest level. However I don’t see the game of an NBA superstar in him. He’s very good, especially fom 12 feet and in, and works hard to get better, but his game is almost strictly based on his athleticism. His handle is sloppy and he doesn’t have great moves. Everything is pretty much full speed ahead. His jumper will only get better because he has very good mechanics, but he’s a 6’5 SF at this point and very far from being skilled enough to play SG. I also personally think his athleticism is very overrated. There’s no doubt he’s explosive, but I think his dunking ability is the by-product of his length and fearlessnesses than anything else. If you watch up close he doesn’t get the elevation that the elite leapers get. My point being, if that’s the main  reason he’s projected number 1, i’d be worried. I see a solid pro, not the next Kobe Bryant.

Parker is the guy i’d pick long term. Has tools that a very select few NBA SFs have with his moves and ability to make plays for other’s. He’s truly a star because you can run an offense through him every time down because it doesn’t mean he’ll shoot every time. He can fit in with other great players but still has a smooth 1 on 1 game. The way he’s changed up his body and gotten so much more athletic in the last year also says he’s serious about reaching his potential. I could be wrong, but I think some guys just ooze that elite confidence, and he’s one of them.

I believe they’ll both be good, but i’d take Parker.

That is exactly what I was thinking when I made this forum and I was just wondering if other people felt the same way. Muhammad has a relentless motor and gets after it on every play, and against high schoolers that works fine. Your right that he needs to improve in a lot of things, but mainly his handle, shooting, and he needs to add a right hand to be great as that is nonexistant.

Coach K compared Parker to Grant Hill and I think that’s the best comparison that there will be as while he doesn’t quite have that type of athleticism yet, he has improved so much it is definitely possible. Also, he does everything on the court from playing hard on both ends of the court to rebounding to distributing and scoring. He is a good passer and is not selfish, like you said, but can take over in crunch time.

In my opinion, Parker is going to be a superstar and Muhammad will be a good player. If Muhammad gets a right hand and learns how to operate from the 3 point line in, I would reconsider but that is a lot to improve on.

Shabazz doesn’t have a right???? probably not, but i see no one saying jabari doesn’t have a left.  He’s left handed of course he’s going left….jabari’s right handed, of course he’s going right.  Little do people know this is true amongst all players. Sometimes people will say something stupid like, "he goes left most of the time, and even when does go right he finishes left."  Watch Jabari’s vid, he goes right most of the time and even when does go left, he finishes right.  Of course, cuz he’s right handed and he’s left handed.

I’m for Parker. I like his game. It has a little old school touch to it. I must admit that I have only seen two games of each but Shabazz didn’t blow me away either time I watched him. I also heard that he has a killer instinct but I never saw that form wither game.

In the end becuase of Parkers ability to shoot the ball and drive he will be more of a threat. IMHO Shabazz relys on his athleticism a little too much to get the points he wants. That will catch up to him in the NBA.

If u dont think Shabazz Mahammad has a killer instinct you are nuts, u gotta have a killer instinct to dunk on guys like that!!!! But im takin Parker, seems more fundamentally sound and also looks to have a pro skill set already, i just see alot of Carmelo Anthony type smoothness to his game and he still has alot more room to get better, also his size is for the 2/3 postions is very good at about 6’8 220 lbs. I think Parker has the chance to be a franchise player when he reaches that NBA level.

Shabazz will be really good dont get me wrong but it seems like he relies alot on his athleticism at this point, he has average size for the 2 position but it will get harder for him to score like he does on higher levels if he doesn’t develope his right hand, but im sure he will an be an awesome pro. He has a nice midrange game and shine in transition. If he tightens up his handle a lil more an extends his range on his jumper he has a chance to be an elite pro imo.

I’ll keep Shabazz until I see more updated footage of Parker. AS for the whole no left hand thing with Shabazz, has anyone ever watched Lamar Odom? The guy has made a career of having only one hand. I realize he’s got the size/length to make up for it, but Shabazz has terrific length and a good enough first step to make up for it. It just seems to me that 6’8 stars are mucheasier to find than 6’5-6’6 ballhandlers who are elite level athletes and actually WANT to kill you on the court.

To whoever said that Parker could end up 2 inches taller, he could actually end up the same height in two years and Shabazz could get the 2 inch growth spurt and end up 6’7.

Ultimately I suppose it comes down to what type of position/player you prefer. For me, I like a Kobe bryant /Dwyane Wade type over a Carmelo Anthony/Paul Pierce type.

And I never heard people giving Muhommed the same type of hype that Parker is getting. This summer is actually the first that Shabbaz is starting to get EXTREME hype. And even then he isn’t getting a comparison of a guy like Big O.

No doubt i will take Parker

Parker can easily be Carmelo y/ Pierce type player, because  he can do anything on the court

Shabazz is overrated ,he will never be Kobe  /Harden type player, you should know Kobe is also a great defender and Harden is a good passer too, till now, except his dunk,i cant see any defense and leadership in Shabazz

I persdonally don’t see why it would be so difficult to see Shabazz becoming AT LEAST Harden. It’s not like Harden is some kind of stellar player. One good playoff run and people are already dubbing him the next Manu or something. OVERRATED. I’d personally take Shabazz over Harden also. Better athleticism, better potential.
