valentinealot of talk has been made that Kyrie Irving will start from day one and i also thought he would but thats because i forgot about seth curry. he will start and nolan smith will be back and im pretty sure he will be starting as well. and he can play point guard. i know Irving is a very nice player but he isnt better then those 2 guys. the only way i see him starting is if they run a 3 guard offense

GreenLanternParticipantI hear Seth’s shot is just as good as his older brothers while being taller. I find that hard to believe, but if true, he is a lock to be a starter. I also heard Seth is a tad more athletic, but maybe his basketball IQ is a bit lower. Duke I believe will be BETTER next year.

The8thDeadlySinParticipantFrom freshman year at Liberty.. He looks alot longer than his brother and may be more of a natural point guard…

Im Your FatherParticipantI see him as more of a scoring spark off the bench actually. Nolan Smith has proven that while he is an excellent scorer, he is not really a point guard. Next year, I see Singler moving back into the mismatch 4 role, giving Duke a starting lineup of
Irving
Smith
Dawkins
Singler
MasonPlumleewith Curry first off the bench

quinceyhodgeshe’s better then irving and from what i hear he’s better then nolan…really doubt he come soff the bench. i understand how some like to make freshmen instant stars but coach k tends to play the best players even if its out of position. nolan at point wouldnt be way out of position because he played it in hs and when he first came to duke

Im Your FatherParticipantIn that Coach K tends to play the more talented players, even if they are out of position, but I think that holds true at every position but the point. Certainly Battier and Hill played the 4, Redick played the 3 sometimes, etc. But he does like a quick, natural point guard running the team. Nice debate man, I’m off to Uva Duke at JPJ game peace.

CelticJayhawkParticipantI live in jersey and i’ve seen him live twice (vs oak hill and st benedicts) and he’s got the ability to take over the game whenever he wants. Sometimes he’ll coast through games, getting his teammates involved first, but when his team needs a bucket, he’ll get it for them. Granted, this is high school, but against oak hill his team was down entering the 4th and then he just took over, hitting deep 3 after deep 3, mixing in dribble drives and feeding his teammates in the process. He doesn’t turn the ball over and he’s a solid on ball defender. However, he’ll be a frosh, and curry and dawkins will have a year in coach k’s system, so one of them (probably curry) would get the nod the the starting spot. That is unless Irving gets on campus and out plays both of them, which honestly isn’t out of the question.

quinceyhodgesi watched that game as well. he was pretty nice in that game. was watching marylands futures player peshon howard as well. really like his game. the best player out there was that gilchrist kid though. and i agree if he out plays them he will start just liek most players on teams i just doubt he will after watching him play and the reports about how good seth is and from watching some games of seth

CelticJayhawkParticipantthat gilchrist kid is the best player in any class from what everyone says i’d like to see him get more of an outside game though most of the points were from dunks in the paint and and 1’s..and yea peshon howards a nice player only dude at oak hill to be a 3 year varsity starter..he defines the term combo guard

CelticJayhawkParticipantWord has it that he might wind up going to duke..in which case, austin rivers seth curry kyrie irving 3 guard lineup with dawkins off the bench? good god that’d be downright scary
