A seemingly healthy Andrew Bynum dances away the offseason in Spain

BY BEN EAGLE

Bad knees kept Andrew Bynum out of the lineup in Philadelphia this season, but it’s good to know he’s not letting the ailment put a damper on his offseason.

The upcoming unrestricted free agent, who failed to log a minute for the Sixers after being acquired in a four-team deal that sent Dwight Howard to Los Angeles, is vacationing in Madrid, far away from the noise and pressure of the NBA playoffs. A little R&R isn’t the worst thing for a player who has undergone four knee surgeries in eight pro seasons, but Bynum isn’t taking it easy. Rather, he’s spending his nights flamenco dancing:

Two takeaways from the video, which was posted on Facebook by a restaurant in Madrid:

• His knees look great! Wearing a sleek Ferrari jacket, Bynum doesn’t miss a beat. I guess a whole season off will put a little extra pep in your step.

• At least he wasn’t bowling. Bynum admitted in November that he suffered a “setback” while on the lanes. At the time Bynum said, “If I did that bowling, what would happen when I dunked?” Encouraging stuff for teams looking to sign the big man to a deal this offseason.

There is a video on the linked web page. I just posted this because as someone who likes and lives near the 76ers Andrew Bynum once again laughs in the Sixers collective face. Before this season I knew Bynum made questionable decisions and also had a somewhat questionable work ethic, but this is ridiculous. Didn't he just have arthroscopic knee surgery a few weeks ago and now he's screwing around dancing it up in Spain and probably isn't even rehabbing.

The only good thing that's happened to the 76ers with the Bynum trade is that he didn't sign the big extension as soon as he was traded. Now the 76ers don't have to be stuck with him.

If I was GM/owner I would be

If I was GM/owner I would be scared giving this guy a max contract. He's one of the best centers when healthy, but those knees are always a concern. A real gamble for sure high risk/high reward.

I understand that fans must

I understand that fans must be frustrated with Bynum, but they are blowing every single thing he does out of proportion. I mean c'mon, he's just walking around dancing lightly to music in the video.

Seriously 2 minutes of basketball would probably be harder on your knees than some light dancing and some bowling. These separate acts don't show that he's not rehabing, I'm not saying he is, if he isn't - that's what you should be angry about, not the fact that he's dancing in Spain.

Drew does not care. Hes

Drew does not care. Hes dancing. He does not care about the game, he has money and fame, he is prolly thinking about his knees and the pain on them when he plays, so he wants to be able to walk in 20 years. He is prolly smashing every chick in Spain and just living life. If im the Sixers i wouldnt touch him.

I think I hear 30 for 30 calling

If any of y'all saw the ESPN doc Broke, Bynum will definitely be in the sequel ten years later. The money won't last forever homie, especially if you don't play and take the game serious.

Who cares

He is on vacation, let the dude dance a little. Its not like he was busting out crazy moves or break dancing. Sure he has done nothing all year but re-injure himself and have stupid haricuts, but i don''t see the big deal. Obviously no one should give him a max contract, I wouldn't give him big money without there being a minimum minutes he needed to log to either recieved the full amount of the years salary or not have the contract voided (like Roy in MN). I just don't understand why poeple are making this a big deal, if he injures himself dancing like that then an NBA team should be "happy" (not about his misfortune) that they know not to sign him becasue he is a glass house. Just saying the NBA/ESPN or whoever needs to stop being TMZ.

Ok I get your guys point

Ok I get your guys point about Bynum being immature and the whole 9, but WTF is this???.... This isn't dancing, this is walking to a beat.
This was made out of nothing, about nothing.
