With the draft being over and free agency starting Friday morning, we’re about to see some crazy contracts coming. With so much money in the marketplace and only so many quality players available, once teams strike out on FA’s they’ll look to acquire players via trade who are already locked into contracts. Everyone has to reach the salary floor and this will be a way to help rather than overpaying a guy short-term.

What are some names you see being on the block or possibly being moved next month.

    Here’s a few:

    Greg Monroe

    Monta Ellis

    Taj Gibson

    Noel or Okafor

    Kenneth Faried

    Wilson Chandler

    Patrick Beverly

    Ricky Rubio

    Bledsoe or Knight

    Danny Green

Rubio to the Rockets could be interesting with D’antoni and harden.

I feel like Harden will be more of the Nash in this offense as being the primary ball handler and perimeter scorer. Beside him you’ll need a defender as Nash had Raja Bell beside him. That’s why Beverley fits good beside Harden as he can defend and hit the 3. Adding Rubio beside Harden will be a waste and not work out as it did adding Lawson beside Harden.

     For who?

If I’m the Wolves – I’d be asking for Ariza and Beverly and I’m not sure that’s a deal that makes sense for the Rockets.

If you’ve seen my past posts, you know I’m nowhere near as gushy about Rubio as many Wolves fans. But he has value, and I think he’s really hard to trade in a two-team deal. The Wolves can’t go into the year with Dunn and Jones as the only two PGs on roster, and I don’t see many teams that could want Rubio while also having quality assets to send back to MN in return.

I feel the same way that Minnessota needs to get a quality veteran point guard in return to ease the transition for Dunn. Maybe a trade based around Rubio for Gay and Collison (don’t really know how his legal situation is right now). Gay would also ease the scoring pressure off of Wingins as well as playing a small ball 4 sometimes.

Don’t see the Rubio fit as Harden is so ball dominant.

Monta Ellis intrigues me because I am not sure what team would want him, I still think he could be one of the best 6th men in the NBA and trading him would help Indiana potentially clear cap to get a 3 and D SG, but what team wants him?

Just a weird hunch but I bet Sacramento wants him.

I went through all the teams with not many I could pick as suitors: Washington Wizards – They don’t have much of a bench and a good starting line-up with Gortat, Morris, Porter, Beal and Wall. Ellis could be a combo guard off the bench with a lot of free agents in Washington right now they have the cap-room to take the contract or if they wanted could potentially S&T a guy like Nene if he doesn’t intend to come back which would give Indiana a cheapish back-up C to Turner.

Los Angeles Clippers – This one is a long shot, but with River/Crawford gone Ellis could come in and give them a bit of what they need as a bench player.

Memphis Grizzlies – With Stephenson being released I know they are clearing space for Conley to come back. They have quite a lot of cap-room and to lessen the impact Brandon Wright could be obtained in return.

Sacramento Kings – I guess if they want to give Cousins another year and think Ellis could help them win it could happen, but I just don’t know why they would want him. Wouldn’t be against getting Koufos in return as a back-up C which works cap wise as well.

Rubio has real value as a point guard.  It isn’t often that quality point guards come on the market.  Rubio knows how to run a team is young and plays solid offense, couple those things with the fact that he doesn’t need a lot of shots like manys point guards and he will be in demand,

Taj Gibson commands in trade talks. He is old, but not too old. Good, but not too good. Seems to be a great bench fit for any championship contending team or any young team looking for good vet influence.

I just hope the Bulls can get something along the lines of young and potential.

Also, Dunleavey is a guy that I’m sure teams want as a rotation guy, but I don’t see anyone willing to give up promising young guys for him… so what do the Bulls settle for if they move him?

Bulls have Portis, Mirotic, Lopez, Valentine and McDermott. (I do not like Felicio and screw Snell, I’ll trade him for a vending machine in the locker room).

The Bulls are going to lose Noah and Pau, it would make sense to move Taj and Dunleavey as well.

I wonder if they talked to Indiana pacers about him before the Thad Young trade ? both have similar value and salary…

Ive long thought a T Ross for Gibson deal made sense for both sides. Ross hasn’t really develped into much in Toronto. He’s still young and certainly has a place in the league but he hasn’t lived up to 8th overall pick status. Odd that he scored 50 points in a game in one of his first seasons.

If I’m MN, I’m offering up Shabbaz and Payne in a heartbeat for Gibson. Not sure if that is in the ballpark but Muhammad is a guy that could be useful for Chicago and Payne is an expiring deal.

If I’m Chicago, I guess I’d do that trade. I would think they could do better though too.

I just like Gibson a lot and think he’d be a perfect fit in Minny, that was even before Thibs was brought in.
