JM40ParticipantI think there can be some real value in this year’s second round, may be one of the deepest drafts in a long while. Here’s a look at who I think historically are the best players ever selected from picks 31-60 (I admit some of the lower picks are bad, but I tried to pick someone who had some level of participation in the NBA during their career);
#31-Gilbert Arenas
#32-Rashard Lewis
#33-Brandon Bass
#34-C.J. Miles
#35-Carlos Boozer
#36-Maurice Cheeks
#37-Nick Van Exel
#38-Mehmet Okur
#39-Rafer Alston
#40-Monta Ellis
#41-Cuttino Mobley
#42-Daniel Gibson
#43-Stephen Jackson
#44-Trevor Ariza
#45-Antonio Davis
#46-Jeff Hornacek
#47-Paul Millsap
#48-Marc Gasol
#49-Andray Blatche
#50-Ryan Gomes
#51-Kyle Korver
#52-Luke Harangody
#53-Rasual Butler
#54-Tornike Shengelia
#55-Patty Mills
#56-Luis Scola
#57-Manu Ginoboli
#58-Robbie Hummel
#59-DJ Strawberry
#60-Semih Erden0 - Posted on: Mon, 06/16/2014 - 9:21am #920140
HaleParticipantAs always, the 2nd round will be a crapshoot. I’m sure there will be some productive players and I’m sure there will be guys we all think was a great pick in the 2nd who ends up doing nothing.

King CaluchaParticipantYes, 2nd round picks are low cost/high risk/high reward bets. Most of those players never make the league, but if you can find a rotation player on a really cheap contract, then it’s worth it. I guess international players than haven’t been heavily scouted can be steals at this stage.

qDizzle32ParticipantNot Isaiah Thomas Jr, thats not his son. His Dad was a Laker fan and lost a bet so that is why his name is Isaiah Thomas.

dcaseParticipantNice list. Unfortunately only looking at picks 31-60 misses a lot of really good players that were taken in the second round before the league was expanded to 30 teams. Dennis Rodman comes to mind.
