ilike.panochasParticipantWill this guy be a 1st Round pick if he comes out this year? He still a little inconsistent to me and doesn’t contribute in other areas other than scoring (rebounding and assist). He has a little JR Smith in his game.

BKKnicksfanParticipantI think he’s a player who’s gonna be in that 25-40 range. I think a playoff team might fall in love with him thinking he can provide scoring off the bench. Similar to Jordan Crawford a season ago.

Lotto StudParticipantHe is nowhere near as athletic as J.R. Smith.
0 - Posted on: Sat, 01/15/2011 - 10:11am #475341
JNixonParticipantHe reminds me of Von Wafer. He’s not as athletic as Smith and he’s not quite as talented and aggressive either.

RUDEBOY_ParticipantI wouldn’t be surprised if he goes undrafted…and end in getting a training camp invite after having a decent summer league.

The Scare Crow ReturnsParticipantI think that’s why he’s under achieved in Tennessee, he looks like a Josh Howard type, that let’s him fly under the radar while still being a solid prospect. He’s a lock to get drafted. Name 50 players better than Hopson as nba prospects…iggy this one is on u good brother. I can’t count 30 better prospects.

BKKnicksfanParticipant30 prospects better this year?
0 - Posted on: Sat, 01/15/2011 - 3:10pm #475398
JNixonParticipantWhy would you challenge me to name 50 prospects better than him? I didn’t say anything about his draft position. He would get picked if he declared though, I’d say he has very little shot at going undrafted.

RUDEBOY_ParticipantI can name 10 better nba prospects in his own conference……
I see him going in the middle of the 2nd round…

JNixonParticipantEhh, there aren’t 10 better prospects in the SEC better than Hopson. That’s an exaggeration.

RUDEBOY_Participantalot of people said there was no way scottie reynolds would go undrafted last year….

BKKnicksfanParticipantIMO, here is the better prospects
- Barnes
- Irving
- P.Jones
- T.Jones
- Knight
- D.Williams
- Thompkins
- Leslie
- Sullinger
- K. Walker
- M. Wayns
- Jimmer
- Selby
- McCamery
- Burks
- Buford
- Hamilton
- Singler
- Honeycutt
- C.J. Leslie
- Kanter
- Harris
- Sidney
All of those are off the top of my head. Throw in some Euros and players I forgot, I think he’s in the 30-40 range.

The Scare Crow ReturnsParticipantHe has been super inconsistent but if you look at his skill set and size you’ll see why he’s bound to be picked up. Now I know he can slide out of a 1st round of a draft, good players do all the time, but he’s as talented as half the wings in the draft after The Cream of the Crop. He’s a kid that has to be thought by example. He needs to work his way into the league, he’s had the look on his face like he’s a nba veteran since he showed up in Knoxville. I’m not saying he can’t fall out of a draft like this, but there are not 30 better nba prospects than him and he knows it. Just Sidney and Character and Clarke and T Will and etc etc etc….

JNixonParticipant"alot of people said there was no way scottie reynolds would go undrafted last year…."
Other than there names being Scottie/Scotty, there situations are the exact opposite of each others….

iguapops420ParticipantStill young, decent athlete decent shooter. Would probably surprise with combine numbers, and find himself in the early second. I don’t think he’s shown nearly enough all around abilities yet to make first round. Lack of rebounds and assists make me kinda weary. Interesting situation he’s in as he could find himself early second this year. While going back to school could potentially move him into the 20-30 range next year, if he goes back without any desire to work on these glaring weaknesses, he could end up going undrafted in next years possibly stock piled draft. Unfortunately, with his somewhat inconsistent aggression levels and lack of development up to this point (outside of scoring), I would bet the latter would end up his fate.

RUDEBOY_ParticipantIggy here are 10 guys in the SEC better than Hopson..
1.Terrance Jones
2.Trey Thompkins
3.Brandin Knight
4.Patric Young
5.Travis Leslie
6.Chandler Parsons
7.Tobias Harris
8.Doron Lamb
9.Renardo Sidney
10.Jeff Taylor
would you rank any of these guys behind Hopson?
0 - Posted on: Sat, 01/15/2011 - 3:39pm #475409
JNixonParticipantI’m talking about 2011 draft prospects. And Patric Young, Doron Lamb, Chandler Parsons and John Jenkins aren’t better 2011 prospects than Hopson at all. Jeff Taylor and Hopson is debatable as well honestly.

RUDEBOY_Participanti’ve seen taylor, lamb, young on alot of mock 2011 draftees 1st rounders…i havent seen hopson on anyone’s 1st round mock..
but i was high on him during his freshman..but since then…he hasnt improved at all…
he might be 1 of those players that will be a better pro than college player…..he doesnt do 1 special thing that makes him stand out…..
0 - Posted on: Sat, 01/15/2011 - 4:07pm #475418
JNixonParticipantLamb doesn’t do anything better than Hopson at all, Taylor is very overhyped (he was the projected 1st upperclassmen in DX’s mock) and is the same level player and prospect, and Patric Young isn’t a 2011 prospect at all. He probably isn’t even a 2012 prospect.
I’m not a big Hopson guy either because he hasn’t grown much in college (even though he’s certainly been more aggressive this year scoring the ball). But to say all those guys are better prospects is very false, especially in the 2011 draft.
And Hopson is an early 2nd round pick in the DX mock, so you might wanna actually look if you "don’t see him in anyone’s mock." Those same mocks that you said had Scotty Reynolds getting drafted are the same ones leaving Hopson out. Doesn’t mean they’re necessarily right. Look at some of the names in those very same mocks and tell me those guys are better now or even have Hopson potential.
0 - Posted on: Sat, 01/15/2011 - 5:39pm #475457
iguapops420ParticipantAgreed, though Lamb IMO is a better prospect. Better shooter, more versatile(handles the ball at times for UK), younger, and has yet to have all of his weaknesses exposed. If he came out this year, it would be to a team who fell in love and made a promise most likely a team with multiple picks in the middle of the second. Hopson has played long enough that Scouts have nitpicked him apart to the point that not those are the things that are being looked at for the most progression. Before this year, I’d say he went late 2nd to undrafted, but with his scoring up, he’s boosted high second. Teams, will like his athleticism and decent potential and will take him somehwere around CJ Miles territory.
