Schroeder wanting out of Atlanta ?

Article----

guard Dennis Schroder has indicated playing for the Indiana Pacers or Milwaukee Bucks would be a good fit for him.

Schroder said those teams are "going in the right direction."

The 24-year-old German held a news conference in his native country and his words were translated by FIBA.basketball writer David Hein.

Schroder said he plans on meeting with Hawks owner Tony Ressler and general manager Travis Schlenk along with his agent to get a better understanding on where the team is headed.

"I have to look individually what's the best for me," Schroder was quoted as saying. "I will be 25 in September and of course you want to win a title some time. In my prime -- 23, 26, 27, 28, 29 -- I want to compete. I cannot be second to last in the Eastern Conference. That's why I will have the talks with the Atlanta Hawks."

Atlanta ended last season with a 24-58 record, last in the Eastern Conference.

Schroder said he wants to stay in Atlanta if things are going in the right direction. He has spent his entire five-year career with the Hawks.

Schroder was drafted No. 17 overall in the 2013 NBA draft. He averaged 19.4 points and 6.2 assist per game last season.

Schroeder

Schroeder is a classic decent stats on a bad team player. His shot selection is terrible (it was bad when the team still had talent too), he doesn't make his teammates better with his passing, and his defense is subpar. Milwaukee doesn't really have assets to move and I don't think Kevin Pritchard would make a move for the Pacers either. The only moves I could really see are to either Phoenix, Orlando, or the Clippers, and Orlando would want Atlanta to take back bad contracts that Schlenke won't want a part of. Milos and the 13th pick would probably get it done with the Clippers though the salaries may not match.

It wouldn't be surprising to see Schroeder get moved. It will probably take a few years to rebuild the Hawks and if he doesn't want to be there now it would be a good time to move him. He's still young and he's a solid player.

Would Orlando give up 6th

Would Orlando give up 6th pick for Schroeder I wonder?

John Hammond tends to rebuild via the draft so may not want to give up a good pick, I doubt the Hawks would give up Schroder for anything less.

I wonder if the Knicks might have interest in Schroeder and 9th pick could form the basis of any deal.

The Cavs are win now and George Hill/8th pick type deal could interest Hawks.

Bucks could offer 17th pick and some assets.

The Pacers have some nice team options in Jefferson and Stephenson so could match salary that way but 23rd pick would need something else added IMO.

SOLD!!!

I like Dennis but if Orlando offers us the 6th pick for Schroeder I'll personally pay for his flight. That will NEVER happen though.

It’s kind of interesting that

It’s kind of interesting that he mentioned Milwaukee and Indiana as destinations as neither seem like very good fits for him. Schroder is under contract through 2021 and will not be easy to move in a league that is flooded at the pg position. He’s probably an average starting pg at best and would probably be a back up on a lot of playoff teams. So if he wants the type of role he has become accustomed to he might not find a better situation than he is in now.

San Antonio is one potential fit I see. Parker is on his last legs, Mills is better as a back up and I’m not sure Murray is actually a pg. I believe they do need an upgrade at pg but trading for Schroder could be problematic. I doubt they would give up a whole lot to get him and it might be difficult to fit him into the salary cap.

As a Pacers fan . . . Nah.

As a Pacers fan . . . Nah. I'd rather just stick with the Collison-Joseph rotation at the point.

As a Bucks Fan

No. He's an average-at-best starting PG who can't shoot or defend--two things the Bucks need. Also, he would be a terrible fit beside Giannis.

Honestly, I'd rather have Bledsoe over him, despite his atrocious playoff performance.

The only way I'd take him as a Buck is if the Hawks would stupidly take a bad contract from the Bucks, such as Henson or even Snell. But even then it may not be worth it if the Bucks shove millions his way.

This could potentially be an

This could potentially be an opportunity for Atlanta to move up to get Ayton. They could package Schroder and the third pick for the first pick and Brandon Knight. All sides win in this situation. Atlanta gets their franchise player and a serviceable replacement for Schroder, Phoenix gets an upgrade at PG (whose game probably complements Booker better than Doncic's does anyway) and potentially Marvin Bagley, assuming the Kings take Doncic.

I think he fits better with the Knicks

Payton actually looked pretty good alongside Booker, better than he ever did in Orlando. Why screw that up by trading for Shroeder? I see Shroeder fitting in Indy, but he'll probably have to settle for New York playing alongside Porzingis and helping mentor Ntilikina as the future 6th/7th man for the Knicks.

You’re right, Payton looked

You’re right, Payton looked great in his first 8-9 games with Phoenix. However, he quickly came back down to earth after that. Re-signing Payton wouldn’t be a bad move, but Schroder would be a big upgrade IMO.

There is no way in hell

There is no way in hell Phoenix is giving up the first pick for Schroder, even if it allows me to get rid of knight.

Schroder AND the third pick.

Schroder AND the third pick. So essentially, Ayton and Knight for Bagley and Schroder.

No chance. Phoenix isn’t

No chance. Phoenix isn’t trading that pick. Any deal they would make for Schroder would theoretically have to be centered around other assets. Chandler has an expiring deal. Maybe they could interest Atlanta in chandler, warren and the 16th for Schroder. Or possibly throw Chriss in place of Warren.

Schroder to Phoenix would be a good fit but I'm only going there if I'm Phoenix if I can get him for Warren or for the #16

Schroder wouldn’t play over

Schroder wouldn’t play over Colluson in Indy or Bledsoe in Milwaukee. I doubt he would play over Brogdon either.

Dennis thinks he's better

Dennis thinks he's better than he really is. His teammates don't like him. If I'm the Hawks trading him wo be a top priority this summer. Remember he wanted out Becuz he no longer wanted to be Teague's backup. Maybe the Clippers would be interested in using their 2 draft picks in return?

The Clippers are better off

The Clippers are better off selecting whichever point guard that will be available at their spot, whether it be Gilgeous-Alexander or Sexton.

I maybe alone here but I

I maybe alone here but I actually think Schroeder is a very decent player for a playoff team. He works extremely hard and is a pest talks alot of trash. I like players with that kind of edge. You can always count on him to compete and make his opponents work for everything. He would be a decent piece for an established team but as a 1st or 2nd option he is mediocre at best.

Anyone know what his

Anyone know what his relationship with Budenholzer was like? Maybe the Bucks' new coach will look to swap him for Bledsoe somehow.

The teams I wouldn't mind seeing him on...

I understand why he wants the Bucks-As my guess is he knew Bud was going there. But I don't know if they make a move for him.

However the teams who could make sense to go after his services.

New york-He would help them alot the cost would at least be their pick and an average deal.

Denver-Murray is more of a 2 guard than P.G so I could see him working there possibly. Maybe Faried and their pick gets it done.

Spurs-If they want to have a legit starting P.G for Kawhi's prime.

Orlando-but what for is the question there..As they are also in a weird place,as Mentioned above I don't think they would give the 6th pick up...

Brooklyn could maybe make sense if they believe Russell is a SG,but I think they will ride with Russell for a bit longer...

Dallas if Dirk pushed for it maybe..But what for is the question and do they rate him higher than Smith?

and

The Suns but that is if they Take the Big from Arizona like most are guessing so I could see them offering a young piece-T.J Warren, one of their bigs maybe and there 16th pick. As Dennis S being locked up to a reasonably priced deal may appeal to the Suns.

Schroeder to Phoenix is

Schroeder to Phoenix is interesting but Phoenix are almost certain to pick Doncic or Ayton IMO so they would want one or the other to be on board at 3rd pick. If Sac-Town took Bagley at 2 then deal could be interesting.

Hawks would like to get assets for Schroeder maybe more than moving up a couple of places in the draft especially if they thought Doncic might fall to 3.

Phoenix have Warren, Chriss, Bender even Jackson as trade bait so could offer something with one of them, 16th pick etc.
