Saw a Athlete
Today i went golfing and saw andre iguodala walking it it was pretty cool. Just wondering if any if you guys had saw or talked to a athlete. My dad saw charles barkly at a coffee shop once also.
I have seen mostly past and present warriors players
Chris Mullin at a st marys vs st johns game
Dorell Wright at Chipotle
Jeremy Lin, Jeremey Tyler, Jason Richardson, Lou Amundson, David Lee at a charity event at san jose st
^Which Chipotle did you see Dorrell Wright in if this is in the Bay Area, just curious.
I saw him at the one in Walnut Creek if you know where that is haha
I saw Iggy, at the strip club in Springfield, IL. It's called Deja Vu and their catch phrase is 1000's of ugly girls and 3 hot ones...pretty accurate too.
I will never forget seeing Deion Sanders strolling through the Charlotte Airport wearing a purple suit and matching top hat
norman black and bobby parks sr. in a game versus ateneo norman black is the head coach of that team while bobby parks was in the audience
lots of nba players at ucla mens gym, and hax in LA
I've met Greg Louganis, gold medal winning diver at the 1984 Olympics in Los Angles and the 1988 Olympics in Seoul, South Korea, extremely nice individual.
I met Bill Walton in a hotel. He was wearing a long sleeve tye-dye shirt.
I also saw Jerome James at a resturant right by my apartment. He's fat. Noticable fat.
I saw Dennis Rodman when he played for the Bulls. I was out to eat with my family at the Hollywood Casino in Aurora, Il when I saw Rodman walk in with his entourage. He took a seat at the bar, so I figured I'd walk up and see if I could get an autograph. I got about ten feet away when three or four of his body guards blocked him off and said "Dennis doesn't want to be disturbed". Shook my head and walked away....I was probably 13 at the time and a little pissed off I didn't get his autograph.
Ben Gordon in NYC in front of a building wearing a purple jacket. Went up to him to say hi. I'm 6'1'' and he did not look any taller than me.
Mo Cheeks shopping in SoHo. Had a brief conversation with him. Very nice guy.
Juwan Howard at the airport in the Bahamas of all places. He was tall ( obviously ) but did not look big at all. All of his bags were Louis Vuitton.
Lol, just remembered another one. I was going on a trip to Florida with my family. On the airplane going to Florida was Bill Wennington from the Bulls. I remember seeing him in first class as I boarded the plane. As the plane took off, I heard someone behind me say, "hey, did you see Will Perdue on the plane". Lmao, wrong big white Bulls center, it was Wennington.
Royce White at lifetime a bunch of times. My friends always see Larry Fitzgerald at the same lifetime, but I've never been lucky enough for that.
Living in LA you see them all the time. Michael Strahan at Sharkeys in Hermosa all the time. I've seen Eric Gordon, Brandon Jennings, Kwame Brown, Corey Maggette, Jay Williams, Kobe, James Harden, Allen Iverson, Joakim Noah, and so many more at LMU's rec center. I also saw Kenyon Martin in a coffee shop in Hollywood once, that was the one I was most stoked about. One of my blonde bomb shell friends once got driven home by a Laker one night and didn't remember who it was but had a picture of his championship ring in the driver seat on her phone.
At the airport a few years back, he was reading the Wallstreet Journal. Asked him for his autograph he was very friendly and much more articulate than I would have imagined.
Oh yeah well I saw Brian Cardinal AKA "The Custodian" at some Italian restaurant in down town Dallas .When he walked by he looked me in the eyes and could tell that I was amazed seeing "The Custodian" in person.I was going to ask him for his auto graph but noticed he was with a group of business men and probably didn't want to be bothered.
Sidenote: he was much slimmer in person then he appeared on the court next to a bunch of incredible athletes
ya'll probably wont believe any of this but here it goes.
once i was in my car driving by lincoln road (a famous street in miami) and i see a HUGE black guy in a coupe austin martin on the other side of the road and im thinking "that looks like shaq", so i stick my head out the window and saw his car had a heat's license plate and that sold it, i was convinced it was him. so i yelled out
"EY YO SHAQQQQ!!!!!!!"...... shaq actually stuck his big-as head out the window and threw up the peace sign.
ill never forget it
probably wont believe this either but here it goes!
i was a bartender at a pool bar in the raleigh hotel (miami) and dennis roman was eating in our restaurant a couple yards away with like 3 of his homeys and like 2 fine blonde chicks.
they stood up and went by my bar. DENNIS RODMAN ASKED ME FOR A LIGHTER AND TOOK OFF WITH IT RIGHT IN MY FACEEE!!!.... why the F do why gotta give this fool my lighter??
BTW he left to the beach without paying his bill and the server, called hussain (still works there) had to follow him all the way to the beach just so he can ask rodman to pay the bill.
true story, i want my lighter back
oh and my sister told lebron """"Fu(k you""" lol
she saw him at a club in coral gables, somehow she said she approached him and asked him for an autograph for me :), and lebron said
my sister told him: fu(k you!!!!
my friend owns this really expensive restaurant and a couple of friends where eating over they saw wade and gabriel union.
wade ordered 8 different beers for his table and only drank like 3. they were paid for and left in the table!
(i wasn't there)
Saw Dwight working out at the gym at UCLA, DeAndre Jordan at chipotle, met Shawn Bradley actually (he sounds like a giant and has the deepest voice ever)
I met Richard Petty, I don't really know why
i met gary payton and nate mcmillan at a sonics pre-season open to public type practice at skyline high school in sammamish near seattle about 10 years ago
i also met marcus trufant at the University of Washington Huskies spring football game last year (he was watching his lil bro play)
anddddd yeah.... my dad's neighbor is Blair Rasmussen (starting center for the hawks and nuggets in the 80's)
LMAO @ Amare Apache for meeting both Walton and Jerome James on the same day..Didnt know anyone could be so Unlucky...hahahaha
I hooked up with Jenna O'Hea at a bar a few years back, I doubt anyone knows who the hell she is but she was the starting shooting guard on the Australian team that just won bronze at the Olympics and played for LA Sparks last year. I was proud of myself.
I met Plaxico Burress last Sunday at Patriots Stadium. I've also met KG and Ray Allen last year during the Knicks playoffs series. They were at Saks 5th avenue. I met Bill Walton too
I saw Kemba Walker, Roscoe Smith, Alex Oriakhi, and Shabazz Napier at a UConn basketball camp and i seen Tyler Olander and Charles Okwandu giving autographs to little kids while they were eating at a cafe. I saw Kobe walking on UC Irvine's campus, I saw David West coaching at an AAU tournament. Can't remember all of the other players I have seen right now.
Besides at games where you would expect to see guys (Summer league games are much less formal and guys hang out afterwards), I've only met a few. I was in a Hotel W bar and Derek Jeter walked in a claimed a booth with his crew. I road an elevator with Danny Manning once. But after an overtime Bulls game, I ended up in a bar late at night and Noah and Brad Miller were there. I told them I was at the game and congratulated them on the win. Noah gave me a fist pound. Then I walked off. Those guys are huge and frankly, I'm not used to ever being around guys that big. (Noah is much taller than Miller it seemed though.) I always feel like a kid when I meet 7 footers because I guess that was the last time I ever looked up that high into someone's face.
Swam against Phelps and Lochte at the Grand Prix in Minneapolis last year... Didn't swim in the same heats as them, but they were both a couple lanes over during warmups.. Unreal..
Not an athlete, but Jerry Colangelo is a family friend of mine and I met him a few times.
I also have met a lot of Jayhawks like Bill Self, Jacques Vaughn, Scot Pollard, Keith Langford, Aaron Miles, Wayne Simien, Cole Aldrich, Xavier Henry, Jeff Withey and some other less famous KU players. I just met them around when I lived in Lawrence. I sat next to Wayne Simien at the bar stools at Chipotle once too. I guess Chipotle is a hot bed to meet basketball players, lol.
I've seen hasheem thabeet at a bar once standing alone, wearing sunglasses. I'm 6'7 and he was huge. Couldn't even seen the Heineken bottle in his big ass hands. I've seen okafor at a party at UCONN, big dude, solid. Moved like a robot. Played against kemba, Jerome dyson, oriahki, olander, he and his brother went to my high school. Seen Ryan Gomes play he is much better than people think, I hope he finds a spot back in the league. Seen Jeremy lamb at the bar he is a tooth pick, and I'm tiny.
Champps is the restaruant to run into athletes here in Indianapolis.
I see a lot of basketball players (college, NBA and overseas), but most of them I've known for a minute or have a least seen them around a few times. Mostly players from Indianapolis or not too far cities in Indiana.
Guys that I don't know that I've run into recently were Bob Sanders and Dwight Freeney.
I ran into Sanders at Red Lobster. It was funny because when I pulled up, there was a unique Escalade sitting out in the front... It was custom, so I jokingly told my wife, "Only a pro athlete can afford that sh*t." Well, then I saw Sanders and a girl walking out. The walkway isn't that wide to get into the main door, so they were basically right in front of us. He stared my wife up and down and looked up at me with this "he's too good" look or like I was about to ask him for his autograph. I looked at him like I was too prideful to ask for anybody's autograph and I didn't care who he was... The thing that stood out about him though is that he's very short, but his NECK is probably the biggest/thickest neck I've ever seen. Like the dude just looks like a pit bull... Just a short and stocky dude.
One of my friends works at this healthy grocery store and he cuts meat. I was back there talking to him and then Freeney showed up to place an order for meat. He was real nice and just seemed like a regular dude. Real easy going, talkative and just seemed like a laid back person.
I was next to Dominique Wilkins in the Atlanta Hawks Media Room. It was pretty damn cool!
Jeremy Lamb shouldn't be in any bars yet...
ive met joe dumars back when i was in the 7th grade.. he was nice as hell.. ive seen rick mahorn up close... ive seen carlos delfino up close... the same mall i saw rich mahorn... i saw rip hamilton at my highschool once my soph yr in hs in the parking lot at a fball game... that was really cool... and ive seen keith benson b4 at oakland university... ive seen him a few times there up close...
and ben wallaces son went to my highschool my sr. yr... he was a freshmen
and oh yeah... i once saw mike woodson at wendys
I've met the following (I used to work at a fairly nice hotel in Raleigh, NC):
PJ Carlesimo (not an athlete, but he gave me some leftover cupcakes. super nice guy)
Jason Williams of Duke (played against him in a pick-up game, but it was very laid back. nobody was really trying.)
Chuck Nevitt (was at the NC State basketball camp I attended. 7'5")
Josh Howard (went to Wake Forest with him. said "hi" a few times, also very laid back guy.)
Rick Flair at a gym in Boston- his body guards did not let anyone near him.
Brian Urlacher was behind me in line at a Cousins (sub shop) in the norther burbs of Chicago.
Donovan McNabb was in front of me in the line to drop off a U-haul at Syracuse in 1997.
I live in Toronto. All I see is hockey players. My boring life.
I live in Mississippi. All I see is rednecks...
I've met a Globetrotter once, but he wasn't one of the more popular ones. His name is Melvin Adams, he spoke at an event my church was holding, he gave me a lot of pointers afterwards
I work at UofHouston so I've only seen or met current players or Alumni. Most notable would be Carl Lewis the track star.
Ive played basketball with a few D1 players at my Y. Also at the Y and on our league team, I play with Joey Brown. He played at Gtown in the early 90s if anyone remembers that. Lol
I met Lawrence Frank at a basketball camp. He was telling us how he loved Jason Kidd so much that he'd quit his job if he was traded. Turned out he was fired instead lol. He was cool.
1. Allen Iverson, me and a group of my H.S buddies were shopping on 8th and Market, when A.I's entourage walked in to same store we were shopping in, his BodyGuard's asked everyone to leave and that upset my friend Clarence(who was pretty much rich himself from a settlement he got after being hit by a Septa Bus) We left the store after joking around with A.I Aka Bubba Chuck and his crew, they invited us out to the T.G.I.F on City line Avenue(this was A.I's favorite hangout back then suprisingly) We were all too young to take them up on their offer of course, people always said A.I was an inpersonable A-Hole but he seemed to like us All just fine...
2. Andre Iguadola, 2 summers ago me and my cousin Alex went to the N.J Aquarium and while were in line to see the Spoonge Bob show(don't ask why, we have 4 little girls combined) anyway Iggy was standing right there with his family(his wife and child)...we exchange a few words and I remember telling him to kick ass at the World Championship games, again he was another cool ass guy...
3. Ronald "Flip" Murray...Flip was in the NBA for a few years and we played together in the Logan section of Philadelphia, he was a Star in the Neighborhood and as a 15 year old looking up to him I can say I crossed him over and hit a few shots over the guy, he was always a cocky &$#%#&@! personally so it felt good to show himup as a kid
4. Jason Lawson...Lawson was a Villanova standout and he also lived in the Logan section along with Flip and a few others local's, Jason was a pretty tall guy and he loved blocking our shots whenever he played younger players...
5. John Chaney's Temple Owls...I played with Lynn Greer, Quincey Wadley and Pepe Sanchez as a high schooler, they played a lot of pickup ball in the city back then and I learned some very valuable lessons from Pepe in particular, he liked to curse and talk trash in Spanish and when he realized I could understand him we got close as I was the only there that could get him into trouble with his teammates(he hated Lynn Greer for some reason)
I forgot Chuck Foreman. He used to come to my high school's practices all the time because that's where his son played. Doesn't really count but the DB's on that team were let onto the field at Vikings training camp so Adrian Peterson, Sidney Rice, Coach Frazier and Bobby Wade were all guys we were within 3 feet of at one point. If only I liked the Vikings...
I hate all New York Teams but when we saw Alex Rodriguez up close I had to Say hello and wish him luck, I have been a fan of his game since he was playing in Seattle with Ken Griffey Jr. He also has my real last name Lol...
I was a fan of Sidney Rice, but none of the others. Griffey was my favorite baseball player so funny that you mentioned him.
I've met a lot of Duke players but my favorite moment was when I played beer pong with Gerald Henderson, Wayne Ellington, Dave McClure, Demarcus Nelson, and Lance Thomas back in 2007.
Steve Francis- His Grandmother's house is behind mine.
Thomas Robinson- I met him through one of my friends, went to clubs with him before.
Quinn Cook- Beat him in 2k twice
Lebron and CP3- Met them this summer when USA was in DC
Gilbert, KD, Baby Shaq - All down Barry Farms
Quinn Cook is one of the funniest dudes I've ever met. I've played pick up with him and Josh Hairston and couple of State guys down in Raleigh.
How'd you get to play 2k with him lol?
Thomas Robinson drove my around one wild 2010 night in Lawerence during the summer, we got pulled over for not having the lights on and he didn't have a licence but the cop recognized him and let us go. True story. My buddy Royce Woolridge was on Kansas that year but recently transfered to Wash St. since. Also when I asked Josh Selby that night at the bar if he was a one-and-done, his response was "6 months and done"
