if you had to choose between the two, who would  you choose and why? Asking because I don’t know much about either, but have heard both good and bad things about both players.

    Thanks!

He is a tougher player, bangs down low, can dribble and drive while passing off to cutters and hitting the glass…

I can envision Saric playing a role similar to Boris Diaw in Phoenix and San Antonio, in fact I think he’ll be able to start next to Noel, Okafor or Embiid at PF and C

He’s just so versatile already, can be a secondary ball handler and hopefully he can extend his range. He can be very good if he’s hungry enough and adds the threat of a 3 Ball

Saric is a huge reason I’d take Ingram #1 overall over Simmons, I believe Saric can replicate a little bit of what Simmons does and doesn’t show signs of shying away from shooting unlike Simmons

I would absolutely love to land the 2nd pick and walk away with Ingram and just see what Dario brings to the table next year…

Dragan Bender looks like a solid prospect and all but Im not as high on him as I was Saric and Porzingas

       1. Saric already has a 3 point shot.

      2. He can’t play center. He’s too weak by miles and miles to play center in Euroleague.

      3. He can’t be a 2nd ball handler on any team.

I like Saric. He’s a very good player, but clearly you have not seem him play before.

Saric is Ben Simmons without the athleticism. A good passing, very good rebounding combo forward without much of a shot. His lack of athleticism is probably going to limit his upside in the NBA but if ever develops and outside shot he’ll be a tough matchup at either the 3 or the 4.

Seen very little of Bender but he looks like a 7’0″ SF.

I’d say Saric is a better shooter though. Like, I don’t think Simmons’ shot is broken but I’ll consider him a non-shooter when on the perimeter until he proves otherwise. Saric, on the other hand, is someone who you’d have to take in account for and I think he’ll mostly be a 33% on the low-end and a 37% on the high-end 3pt shooter. But he’s much like Boris Diaw with how he scores inside while having the ability to extend out with range from time-to-time. Also, I like his athleticism, it isn’t like he’s devoid from it. He does have good lateral quickness to hedge out on ball-handlers, so that’ll help. But he doesn’t have best wingspan for a forward with it only at 6’11.

I do agree with The Scare Crow Rises, in that I hope Ingram somehow lands in Philadelphia since he’s exactly what they’ll need with his skill-set. Ingram won’t have to compete with any other perimeter player for touches, so he can work on his ball-handling and he’ll probably be put at the SG spot to do so with a lineup of Covington at SF and Saric/Noel sharing minutes at the four and Okafor/Noel/Embiid sharing minutes at the five.

Anyways to get back to your question, I probably like Saric more over Bender. Saric is just more proven and its partly because his just older but I also see a clearly defined role for him that I don’t see with Bender since he’s not the best scorer attacking the rim or posting up and thus will probably be a role player relying on other skills. But Bender will have issues with what his position will be.  Bender seems like he’ll be most effective at the five and he’s quick on his feet but doesn’t have the pop in his legs or the wingspan to defend the rim. And his jumpshot is very solid in the midrange but I don’t know how clear or certain that he’ll be a knockdown 3pt shooter. Great rebounder though, I remember in 2014 FIBA Europe U18s where he destroyed Sabonis on the glass and that’s Sabonis’ best trait. Also, beautiful outlet passer too.

Bender is a 100% for sure, no way in hell, that he can play as a C. He is the physically weakest power forward in the Euroleague.

Might be because the dude is only 18 and youngest eligible player in this year’s draft?

That is only a part of it. He’s weaker than all the power forwards in Euroleague at his age also. He’s not going to be a C. No reason to make him play out of position and try to wreck his career.

Saric is not a combo forward. The only position he can play at Euroleague is power forward. He also has a solid 3 point shot, or based on NBA standards for power forwards, he would be considered "elite". In Euroleague, every team has bigs that can shoot better than him. In NBA very, very few bigs can shoot like he does.

You have not seen Saric play either.

Bender is not a SF at all. He is a clear as day face  up / stretch PF. He is basically a carbon copy of Yi Jianlian.

Yi Jianlian was listed as a SF at the time he was drafted.

And yet he played PF. And developed as a C, because he was very, very strong.

NBA mock draft sites are wrong on the positions of foreign players about 50% of the time. Maybe even in some drafts they get the positions of foreign players wrong at an 80% clip.

It’s actually laughable many times what positions NBA mock drafts list foreign players at.

Ben Simmons without athleticism?  That’s kind of like saying Steph Curry without an outside shot!!  Simmons athleticism is his signature.

They’re both ballhandling, playmaking 6’10" forwards who are plus rebounders but have questions about their shooting ability. I think they have a lot in common.

Saric is not a ball handler. He can dribble. That’s it. He’s nothing remoteling resembling a ball handler. Also, his play making is limited. He makes a few nice passes here and there on accasion. That’s it.

He is also a more than adequate shooter.

It is clear that NBA mock draft site myths just go as fact here.

I would say his IQ is much less rare than size and athleticism.  It is his Athleticism that will separate him from other smart players.

Dont mean to be combative, but it’s exactly the other way around! In the NBA everybody is athletic, so that won’t be something that will seperate him. In reality it will be his iq and his ability to outsmart players that will seperate him from the other athletes. I mean the league is full of athetes but what separates players like lebron, rusty etc is iq PERIOD!

The NBA is riddled with players with poor athleticism. Especially the point guard and center positions of the NBA have many players with poor athleticism.

I dunno why some of you guy post stuff on European prospects that you clearly know nothing about.

I’m actually glad Euroballer comes on here and catches some of the clearly incorrect comments out. Dude if you weren’t so mean, you could write peoper scouting reports on these guys.

Despite his harsh accusations…I’m confident he watches more Euroleague than anyone else who is posting stuff about these guys. Some dudes are getting +10 on here by calling Saric a combo forward and not possessing a 3pt shot. Its misleading…
