publius2481ParticipantIt is now official, Dario Saric will be joining the Sixers this year. This is good news for the Sixers. He can serve as a point forward when Simmons is not on the floor, which will help Coach Brown develop a system to maximize Simmons’s and Saric’s potential. Plus, with him and Simmons can be used in a small ball lineup (Saric at 5 and Simmons at 4) or a big lineup (Saric at 4 and Simmons at 3). This will give the Sixers an ability to force mismatches on teams. While I think the Sixers are not a playoff team, this will improve them. I think he is a dark horse ROY candidate.

Celtics3178ParticipantI agree with a lot of what you said but dark horse rookie of year. For all you betting people save your cash. You can’t honestly think he outshines Simmons can you??

publius2481ParticipantHe’s older and has professional experience which could help him. I agree Simmons is more likely to win ROY, but Saric winning it because he is a more mature player. Now, long term, your a sucker if you think Saric will be better than Simmons, but this year Saric may have some advantages.

circumlocution75Participantthe 2015/16′ Sixers was the Least talented roster I have Ever seen – Saric is an experienced professional who can shoot the 3, rebound & pass.
This is a Massive talent upgrade from a Season ago – Phila has a Real basketball team now. I’m hoping they can win Maybe 25 – 30 games & that Embiid’s Stamina reaches NBA 30 min per game by next spring.
I’m so excited we get to root for an actual NBA team for a change like everyone does — I am Crazy Hype for the Pre-Season!

surveParticipantI am kinda lost here. why did he sign that rookie deal thats gonna pay him roughly $2 mil and change per year when role players are getting 5x that much? he must really want to play in the NBA bad. I thought for sure with all these contracts being tossed around he would hold out another year.

BothTeamsPlayedHardParticipantWhile European club contracts are not as transparent as NBA ones, most reports had Dario’s contract with Anadolu Efes as being worth more than €1 million per season. I might be wrong, but I do not imagine the family’s money problems could have been that dire especially since Dario has to contribute to the out clause in his contract to join the Sixers.

Memphis MadnessParticipantHmm.
The Golden State Warriors started in Philly.
How about trading names with them?
So, you get the ULTRA-LOADED (at least at the top) Golden State 76ers.
Then you get the ultra big Philadelphia Warriors.
How many retro Philadelphia Warriors jerseys would you sell?

DanielcmccartyParticipantIt will be extremely interesting who gets the short stick on playing time in Philadelphia if they don’t make a trade. Not enough minutes for Okafor, Embid, Noel, Saric and Simmons in the front court. Only way it could possibly work is if they truly put Simmons at point guard, start two of the three bigs and convince one to come off the bench(Noel) and if Dario Saric can play and defend the 3s in the league along with stretching the floor with shooting. That’s a big wish list and even if it comes to happen that way, I still don’t think they have enough shooting to space the floor for the bigs to operate or Ben Simmons to drive and dish.
With that being said, you know they clearly favor Embid over Noel and Okafor. Ben Simmons and Dario Saric project to be very multi dimensional and will be getting max playing time. Which leaves Okafor and Noel. Noel seems a bit over rated to me. 11ppg and 8rpg. Only averaged 1.5 blocks even though I’m sure he altered a bunch of shots to. It just seems to me that if Embid is healthy and plays up to his potential, he might be a better fit next to Okafor. Okafor is clearly the better talent over Noel so I hope they find a way to make it work to keep Okafor and trade Noel. Noel can only catch lobs and contest shots. Embid should bring that along with an offensive game. If they can’t trade any of them for a deal they feel is equal value, I would guess the lineup will consist of Simmons, Bayless, Saric, Okafor, Embid. No positions for any of the players because I don’t think any of those players have a true position besides Embid and Okafor which are centers. Then off the bench you have Henderson, Stauskas, Sergio Rodriguez, Covington and Noel.

circumlocution75Participantthought.
Saric is a classic Stretch 4 who can shoot the 3 but also pass
Simmons is so much better of a Facilitator than I think anyone realized — Simmons will eventually be Phila’s Full time PG & when he’s not a the PG he’ll play a kind of Hybrid Point Wing type deal – He’s really hard to peg at one position but I don’t think Saric & Simmons will be redundant as originally believed.
Man if Okafor continues to develop his face up game & shot – which he had a nice handle & 15 foot bunny last season – & he can play that Stretch 4 role w/ Embiid at Center, that could be a Nasty Line Up & Gigantic

pokieParticipantSomething has to give in the Sixers frontcourt. They are overloaded. Top-heavy even. My guess would be they will wait to see if Embiid is past his durability issues. This could take half a season. If so, they will move someone. By then it will probably be obvious who matches up best playing with Simmons and maybe they can turn their surplus big into one of the Suns extra Wildcats? With Simmons as the primary ballhandler Knight or Bledsoe would be good fits for the Sixers.

HitsterParticipantWith the talk of Saric and Simmons in particular being point forward then Philly could almost become a position less team on offence with various players handling the ball. The issue will be more on defence about who guards the opposition SF’s if they are quick mobile players.
There are a lot of frontcourt and SF minutes to be filled by Philly next season and with Embiid, Simmons and Saric all to be eased in then Coach Brown can probably run a rotation to feature them all plus Noel and Okafor. Different situations will call for different line ups if they are defending a lead or chasing a game etc.
I think they will look to keep all guys in rotation this year and then look to make any moves next summer but Noel could be renewed this summer with a new deal starting in 2018 and Embiid could be renewed next summer so that has to be considered too.
