Orlando Magic are under cap

Orlando Magic are under cap and might do it. If they select Winslow, I could not think of anyone better to mentor Winslow than Gerald Wallace as there are quite a few similarites in their game. He might also help Moe Harkless....

One year at 10 million for

One year at 10 million for Wallace isn't bad if you get the 16th pick in return (and you will likely have to spend that money mid season to hit the salary floor...like the McGee deal). Boston is likely going after a max free agent this summer like Aldridge or Love if he opts out so this move would help clear more space to fill out their roster.

Meanwhile perhaps the Sixers could use this pick and one of their bevy of first rounders next year to move up to that 7-10 range to land either Winslow, Hezonja or Booker to play with Russell....assuming they draft him 3rd overall.

Ya, I was expecting a punchline, too. Sorta disappointed now.

Oh, and why does everyone always assume Boston is targeting Love? (Just because he's white?) IMO, the Celtics would be better off pursuing Draymond Green or DeMarre Carroll. Especially considering I'm not sure how much trade value Sullinger and/or Olynyk even have at this point.

Anyways, since the OP's post didn't actually include a joke, I have one. (Although I must warn you, it is extremely inappropriate.)

A 40-year-old man and a 10-year-old boy are walking through a dark woods at night. 10-year-old boy says, "I'm scared."

40-year-old man says, "YOU'RE scared?! I'm the one who's going to be walking back alone!"

Everyone is assuming Celtics

Everyone is assuming Celtics will target Love because Wojo came out with a report saying so, when Wojo speaks it's usally the truth. Boston had interest in Love last offseason when he was under contract why wouldn't they have interest this year if he becomes a FA? Love would come to Boston and imediately become the focal point of the offense.

I would not mind the Lakers

I would not mind the Lakers doing this and then trading their 2 lottery picks to move up and grab another Lottery selection. Let's be honest, Lakers are not going to do a total rebuild in one season but this would help make the season after the coming one more promising. We could potentially have top young talent at every position after the 2015-2016 season and then the cap jumps. Lakers will not contend for a ring next season but if they make some smart moves and Kobe decides to stay another year then Lakers could be a contender the season after this one coming up.

There's no freaking way

There's no freaking way Boston is giving up 16 just to unload Wallace's last year. They can stretch his contract and cut 7 million from their payroll this year.

The Celtics already have enough cap space to sign Love. In which case they would need a rim protecting center. The only draft option at 16 is Upshaw, so other than that high risk, they would be looking to trade 16 and Wallace (and perhaps other picks) for an extablished defensive center.

Wallace is a good teammate, a great mentor, and a solid stopgap player. Plenty of teams could use his lockerroom leadership, and as an expiring contract, he's not totally devoid of value.

I could see something like 16 + Wallace for Roy Hibbert if Hibbert picks up his player option. or if Hibbert declines his player option, a sign and trade with Boston.

But there's going to be something else coming back to Boston besides an extra 3 million in cap space for that 16th pick.

I'm embarrassed to agree with

I'm embarrassed to agree with you arambone2 but I agree with you. Celtics have already ate the the bad part of the Wallace deal this year he's expiring. Maybe they give up their 28th pick but I just don't see them giving up the 16th pick. As stated above Celtics have enough room to sign Love straight up only way they give up a pick to move Wallace is if they 100% know another "star" will sign this season with them
