Anyone have a clue what the Kings have up their sleeves?

Obviously who they take will depend on the first 4 picks, but I have a funny feeling that if the guys they obviously like (MKG & Robinson) are gone, they’ll grab Lilliard.  Not the most obvious pick, but he seems like one of those guys the Kings front office might fall in love with.  For some reason, I think they’ll pass on Barnes if he’s there – just don’t think they’re that high on him.  I could see them taking a roll on Drummond, although how much risk can one unstable franchise take on?

This also seems like a good draft to take on some contracts from other teams in order to add picks.  Not like a FA is coming to Sac-Town willingly given the state of both the roster & franchise, but teams looking to dump salary are a perfect trade partner for the Kings and their cap room.  Of course, after last year’s debacle, this might be a careful what you wish for thing for Kings fans (Note to Geoff Petrie: If you’re taking on the worst contract in the deal, you should move up in the draft, not back).

That being said, Sac could take Okeafor’s contract off New Orlean’s hands if it meant bringing back the 10th pick – maybe Salmons, Hayes & a future 2nd for Okeafor & the 10th?  Not sure that’d be enough for the Hornets, but something could probably be worked out.  I’m sure there are other moves that could be made along this same vein as well.

What about trading Tyreke?  Dude doesn’t have a role on the team going forward – what would he bring in trade value?  Would Portland part with 6 & 11 and a bad contract for him?  Probably not.  Houston might jump with their 2 first rounders though, and in a draft where there’s a lot less difference between the 6th pick and the 20th pick than normal…that might a good deal for both teams.  Boston?  Golden State?  Someone else?

Anyway, would love to hear anyone who’s got a thought about what the Kings might do.  Thanks all.

New here, but I think that Sacramento could very well go for Lillard but then again they have Thomas and Thorton as their guards. I think they might make a run for a small forward (if MKG or Barnes is available or maybe even Perry Jones even though his stock has been falling). I don’t know how Drummond would do in an unstable environment like Sacramento especially with Cousins there. He might not be a good influence for Drummond with his attitude etc. I could see him rubbing off negatively on Drummond.

Why would Nohla do that just to get rid of okafor? They can just amnesty him

That N.O. trade would make me very happy as a Kings fan. If the Kings could pull that off and manage to grab either Barnes, MKG, Drummond, or Robinson in the draft it would be great. They could target a 1 or a post player at ten. And for the love of god DO NOT trade Tyreke Evans. All this talk about Tyreke not fitting in has his stock down so low that it is rediculous. He may not be a great jump shooter or elite PG but if they stop trying to force Tyreke to play a position he is not (PG/SF) he will be a very solid player, worth much more than two mid-1st rounders. The largest problem the Kings have, outside terrible and cheap as hell owners, is that their best perimeter offense and best SG are two different players. I Think the best solution to this is to put together a package of Thornton, Jimmer, the 35 pick and another player to try and grab a veteren forward depending on what forward position they fill in the draft.

The Kings Need a interior defender/ shot blocker and a explosive wing. If they can’t get Drummond or MKG at  5 then they should select Barnes if he’s availible. I don’t see them picking up another point guard. If they do decide to trade Tyreke they should trade him to Memphis along Salmons for Rudy Gay and the 25 pick. Gay would be insane on the wing and Barnes or MKG could learn from him. The hornets said they wanted to move Ariza or Omeka contract with the tenth pick. I believe if the Kings can’t get drummond they should pick up Emeka and that tenth pick for the best availble player. Last year the Kings said that they wanted to add veteran player to their team so they could make the playoffs. I think okafor a gay would help out alot evn if they had to lose Tyreke.

    Thomas/ferdette

    Thorton/Garcia

    Gay/MKG/Barnes

    Cousins/Haynes

    Drummond/Okafor

I know there are a lot who are not Tyreke fans here.  Some think he was overated.  I dont agree and I am baffled at how it appears that Sacramento may be giving up on him so easy.  Someone posted here that he is like a mini-Lebron and I have to say I agree.   Let the negs rain down but I would love to see Reke in Miami if Wade wasnt there.  They are similar players in the fact that they are not great shooters but scorers, good passers and rebounders and good defenders.  Wade is a stronger scorer and defender but Reke can do so much with the ball and I think his shooting will improve.

I want to see Drummond go to Sac.  I think it would work.  Could have a serious front line in a couple of years.  Intimidating to say the least.   Get rid of Jimmer.  I think Jimmer can be a good player, but not in Sactown.  I never though he fit there and was still surprised they drafted him.  Maybe move Thornton…but I dont know, he is automatic if in a bench role.  Give Honeycutt some room to grow and get rid of Salmons.  Also that 36th pick could be valuable, especially in a package.  Maybe Terrance Williams is starting to put it together and worthy of a re-up.

Hornets can only amnesty one player, so they’ve made it known they want to move either Okeafor or Ariza if anyone will take one of them on.  They might amnesty the other, but there is the incentive you were looking for – I didn’t just manufacture it from thin air.

New Orleans isn’t the only team looking to shed salaries either.  As a team unattractive to free agents with cap room, that’s probably the Kings’ best play as a way to acquire more talent is all I was saying; regardless what the actual shape of any final deal is (mine was just a hypothetical).

Tyreke’s value may be deflated, but he fails to find a jump shot and has another season like the one he just had, it’ll be almost non-existant.  Hope he turns it around, but the team should still be exploring all options and if a good deal comes along, maybe let someone else take the risk.

Sacremento is in shambles IMO. Thornton, Evans, Fredette, and Thomas are all players who are either undersized for their position, greedy players, or just aren’t good. They’re backcourt sucks IMO, they have no SF, and they have no C.

IMO Cousins is the only player they have and every other play on their team they should be looking to trade. At 4 I think you have to take Barnes if he’s there, he gives you much needed shooting at the 3. JMHO.
