Won’t lie, as soon as the Cousins trade went down I had basically given up on the Kings for the next 5 years but their young players have really shown something and looking at their books they have the potential to build a really nice team over the next few years.

This site has Monk mocked to them but I think they take their PG of the future at 8.  At least one of Fultz, Ball (OK these two won’t but whatever), Fox, Smith or Ntikilina (Couldn’t be bothered looking up spelling) will fall to them.

I think Ntikilina is a nice fit for their core moreso than Smith.  I like Fox here as well but I think he will be the third PG off the board and won’t be available at 8.

That automatically gives them a nice, extremely young core of:

    PG – Ntikilina

    SG – Hield

    SF – ?

    PF – Labissiere

    C – Cauley-Stein

Papagiannis has looked capable and a full preseason should do wonders for his development making a nice big man rotation.  Koufus is also a nice veteran big man to have.

With their 2nd pick they should go best player available but a swingman to come off the bench would be a nice addition as they have Gay, Tolliver and Afflalo for this next year but then their contracts come off the books I believe which would give them a large chunk of cap space next summer.

If a Monk, Isaac or Tatum fell that low it would be a great pickup with the tenth pick.

This summer I think you resign one of Collison or Lawson and let them start for the year for a bit of veteran leadership.

If they draft well and their young players continue to develop at a similar rate they could be very dangerous in a few years.

The Kings are drafting in the right place to still get a top notch player from this draft. They might not get the position they want. Fox will be gone before they draft. Dennis Smith might still be around. I believe you need a player on your team who can drive (drawing the defense in) so they can kick it out for a 3. Fox is great for this. He’ll be great at getting to the rack and getting up. He needs to improve on making it once he gets to the rack. He needs to make it a lot more to deserve those John Wall comparisons. Dennis Smith is actually a very good option. We may all be sleeping on him. All the footage I see of him is whole teams collapsing on him. Great guy to kick it out to Hield.

If you are playing it safe you Draft both lower picks Best available PG and Forward that is cable of playing two positions at least PF/SF or SF/SG. As there would be less pressure than what the next move I am about to suggest is…

Which is the following you trade 8 and 10 for :The rights to one of Josh jackson or Lonzo Ball and maybe a young player/average contract. Preferably you go after the postion you believe will be the hardest to fill in F.A. I could see them being High on Ball for the excitement he would bring or High on Jackson if they believe in the WIggins/Kawhi/Jimmy B hype, which judging by the Buddy and Curry comp by the owner I could see it happening..

This is the sort of trade I could sort of see happening a 3 team trade:

Kings get Ball/Jackson and an average contract/a young player just doesn’t get the minutes

T-wolves get the 8th pick and Luol deng

Lakers get Rubio and the 10th pick

Now why this may happen: Thibs likes Deng,(who he cold play at the PF or SF spot),They also get the 8th pick which they could use on another good young need to go with their own pick. Or they could package their picks, an average contract and maybe a future protected first for Jimmy B(if Bulls go full rebuild). This move also opens up the doors to Start Dunn and either replace his minutes with a F.A or another Rookie..

Lakers get their futher along version ball(minus the respectable 3) who could either play off the bench or help move Dangello to the 6th man role once(which he maybe better suited for) and get everyone their touches especially if the PG to Lakers rumor is true.. The 10th pick could be used on whatever need they have to fill.

Kings do this move to get the Young player who suits their timeline and has a high potential in their eyes and fills a need..They could also get a need in the form of an average contract/ a young player who just isn’t getting minutes so maybe someone like a jordan Clarkson(if from Lakers) or a Cole Aldrich/Dieng/Shabazz..

I also would’nt be fully surprised if the Kings and T-wolves did this trade and didn’t go after ball or Jackson though: Rubio for the 8th pick and an average contract..As apparently the Kings are high on Rubio.

The Kings and Wolves are not dropping any futher than the 8th pick. So I don’t know what your talking about with the 10th pick. The way Rubio played after the trading deadline he isn’t going nowhere for an average contract and switching draft picks with the Kings.

I could see the Wolves sending Rubio, Shabazz, and their pick to Chicago for Butler though. I not positive we’re going to see Lavine with MN after all the smoke clears either.

Are ahead. The Kings along with Brooklyn and Orlando not in good shape for at least a few years.

The Kings need to decide who are the core players they want to go with and once they know where they are drafting they can pick accordingly. Collinson and Lawson are both FA’s but I’d suggest they maybe keep one to help any young PG they draft to develop.

Veterans Afflalo and Rudy Gay when he returns will be in the last year of their deals so could be moved on/brought out. One or other may interest a contender who has some cap space and wants a short term option.

The frontcourt with WCS,Skal, Pappa G looks quite nice going forward so I’d agree that draft options if they keep both picks may well be PG and SF. Hield looks a lock at SG and they have some depth there so I’d not really want to draft there.

If we assume they keep 8th and 10th then they may well hope that one of the top PGs or SFs fall to them. If not I’d certainly take Ntilikina with one of the picks, I think that 12th on site mock might be a bit low for him. If one of the other PGs fell then I may be tempted to take them as well as Frank N is probably able to play off ball and can defend SFs potentially. It gives them good ball handling options which will help create for Hield.

If other options are gone, it might have to be BPA even if they may have players in frontcourt or at SG already, there are minutes to share around and a lottery team needs good players.

Trading down might be an option to get an SF, Portland have a number of picks and might like a big in 8 to 10 range so that would seem a decent deal.

I don’t see them really being able to combine picks to move up into business end of draft as they would likely want to get a top 3 or 4 pick and teams are reluctant to give those up. Anything below that isn’t really worth trading up for.
